Thank you, Mum Michelle, for featuring this song "Power" by Morissette. It was written by Francis Salazar, the same person who wrote "Akin Ka Na Lang" for Morissette. "Power" was written specifically for the Miss Universe Philippines pageant last year 2022. Please watch her live performance on the pageant itself, where you would see the previous Miss Universe winners along with the contestants, and how Mori, who had just arrived from her US concert tour, slayed it! Watch how those beauties were "empowered" while doing their walk on stage while Mori was nailing it. 🥰
That was her husband Dave with her during the recording. We could see his somewhat hilarious reactions, awed and amazed by the singing prowess of his beloved wife. He uttered jokingly at the end "bastos" which means something like "rude", she is "rude" for being so good, even after coming off from illness. 😊 Although this song was used at the beauty pageant, its message is actually universal, it talks of women empowerment in general. I wish this song could be noticed by organizations of women empowerment and gender equality, and give it the wide exposure it deserves.
Speaking of "Akin Ka Na Lang", I've looked at your Morissette playlist and couldn't find it there. Have you reacted to it? Otherwise, please do, or you're missing a lot. 😊 That is her iconic original song, much like "My Heart Will Go On" is to Celine Dion, and "I Will Always Love You" is to Whitney Houston. I recommend the Wish Bus performance, that's my most favorite. 🥰

The writer of this song, is the same that wrote Akin Ka Na Lang Kiko Salazar , and following the MUPH pageant , plan was for her to cut the studio version b4 he left for the US. Reason she was most likely sick was.....she had just returned 2 days ahead of MUPH from a month in the US ,going from Ca. to NJ so body needed to re-adjust.I don't think this is the version they kept for release, but it was complete within 20 minutes, and is a great song , available on all music platforms.
