Okay, this is epic.
For 1 year this progress is really killer, I also recommend studying piano to make your playtime more worthwhile (personally the route I went).
lol, personally since I play games in front of my family my mother took notice of how good I am at this game and let me play piano. I did not enjoy the lessons that the teacher gave out and after a performance in front of like a hundred people playing zelda i didnt play after that cuz I was unmotivated. Maybe its just because i wasnt learning by myself so there was no motivation but i wanna re start it back up again ngl

try use a faster speed up in the 30+ range it will help alot with more dense patterns

This is so impressive and honestly very motivating!!! Do you have any tips on how to play? I recently started 7k and idk what kind of keyboard posture I should have since everything feels so off (im worried that my current playstyle will limit me in the future), also is it worth it to learn bar skins? I SUCK at them, but literally everyone uses them since its make everything readable (yet I cant read them).

again many things to say, but firstly lets start off with posture!!!
make sure to sit up straight and just have in a sense a straight back and a confident posture, as this will keep a non-lazy posture and keep your energy in check.

hand positioning, a odd topic to cover but a cool one imo. Hand positioning really just comes down to using your forearm muscles and not keeping tension off of your wrists and joints in your hands, again just go off of comfortability. Also make sure that your whole entire arm is not straight and and your elbows are sorta looking like this < > just not as narrow as that :|.
im just saying what ive been learning as ive been progressing with 7k so most of this might be irrelevant.
Play time! for play time if you want to have fun, just play the game, no sweat, but if you want to get good and like top level, play around 30 minutes everyday, or just try and squeeze in some time everyday so your muscle memory keeps in pristine condition. Dont sweat if you miss a day tho, since I have been missing alot of days for final papers and shtuff.
Energy drinks or caffeine, honestly idk much about this, but i wouldnt really recommend them unless u like wanna just vibro for the whole day, cuz ur not really doing anything like energy consuming so your hands are just gonna be hella shaky, but its pretty fun tbh. Idk thats that
types of keyboards! really doesnt matter as long as you have a 7 key rollover keyboard or higher (recommended that its a mech keyboard, RESEARCH ON THE TYPE OF SWITCH YOU WOULD LIKE !!!!!)
monitors????? yeah monitors play a small play in mania, if you want to go to high scroll speeds getting like a 90hz+ monitor would be a semi might, but at the same time 60hz is still so playable.
breaks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! seriously breaks are so large and important, if you plan to play more than an hour and half a day, i would recommend taking breaks for as long as 30 min since you don't want to get arthritis or sum shi and not be able to play for like a whole ass month, idk never got it though
ugh, skins. Okay i was in the same boat as you, i absolutely sucked **** at using bar skins, but I was noticing all of the top 7k players were using bars skins, so I transferred also. There might be a reason as to why, like how its easier and more compact to read, but i don't know. I would recommend trying a bar skin out for like a month or so and see if you like it. wait nvm not like a month maybe like 2 or so weeks and go from there. if bar skins aren't good, you could use silly fan girls circle skin, that's pretty fine, but if you want a combination of the 2 you could use stelliums bar skin that has circle skin features. (Like if you want me to get more detail into this) also bars skins are good for accuracy so i think that's why so many people use em, unless its for 4k.
map choice and patterns!! seriously dont worry about patterns, just have fun with them, but just keep up with every single skill, (mainly jacks) since thats kinda the whole point of mania. and map choice, idk why i said that sorry.
tips: have fun play the game for fun as it will help in the long run and make sessions more enjoyable. Install good music!!!, subscribe to mappers as its fun to check what people have uploaded and are able to play their songs, wait that was kinda useless, not a tip. Um next, remember that jacks are kinda the main foundation of all of the patterns, if you play for like 3+ years you might understand what im saying, i could explain it but, when it comes to explaining im not top tier. Also make sure to know how to vibro, same with jacks they are really important. (just search up how to vibro).
Okay this tip is gonna be on its own since its pretty lengthy, so basically for your playstyle there are two ways, there are hovering wrists, which you literaly hover your arm and play, or you just rest your wrist and play. that tip isnt really necessary but im getting to the main part. The main part i want to focus on is the way your wrists are positioned, think of your hand and your forearm being separated. Image that your hands are facing the direction that is farthest from you, for example your leftr hand should be facing to the left, and your right is facing towards the right. also remember to keep ur elbows like this < >.

3 weeks (too lazy to wait for 1 month exactly): Can A most medium 4*. My current pp record is 138pp.
Current goals: Trying to get a 200 pp plays. Get at least top 3 7k on my country :).

how do u get better at 7 key i just dont have any motivation to as getting my thumb to hit stuff feels so unatural. Ive gotten to the 5 star range in 6k
personally i was the same for a good 2 weeks i hated using the spacebar and was wanting to use my pinky but everyone uses thumb so i switched
just play for 30 minuts every day for a good 2 and a half weeks and when using your spacebar you should probably use your whole wrist to press down the spacebar instead of pressing down your finger by itself
man this is really motivating!! genuine question, is it literally just play more? ive played 4k for a month but 7k maps just look way more interesting so i decided to start playing (mostly) 7k for the last 2-3 weeks and im still hovering around low 2 star maps, i do have some (really) low 1.8-2* S ranks but anything higher than 2 i get mostly 86-92% scores depending on the map. Is there anything you can recommend or share from your experience?
I have many things to say about this, personally i like 7k the best because it is the middle between all keymodes. Which means that if you play 7k, youll have a grasp on any pattern that comes from any key range, like 4k 5k 6k etc. And yes, it mainly is just play time because the more you play the better you are suited with patterns. And some tips i have is just play comfortably and have fun. But seriously tho be comfy it literally makes you better
