- We run Butler Truckmounts with the Live 2.5 inch hose reels, but do not run live reels unless needed. This video will show you how we have 100 feet of 2.5 inch on the reel in four 25 foot sections, a "Y" splitter and how we plug off the rest of the unused hose on the reel when not needed. It give you some great options for hose combintions. You can also do this similar set up with the Butler 2 inch live reels.
I like your setup a lot, but I'm not sure for me I only want 100ft of 2.5 inches on the reel, and carry in the rest. Where could I hook up 2.5 inches for those extra long runs? TY Brian
For the extra long hose runs we will bring extra 2.5 inch also.
We will typically per van bring another 100 feet of 2.5 inch. So on a super long run of 450 feet we have done, I will run 200 feet of 2.5 inch then rest will be 2 inch. We would keep taking off hose as needed. We don't see many hose runs over 200 feet around us. We will still carry about 250 to 300 feet of hose with us, but we rarely go over 100 foot hose runs around here.
@@MarkSaiger I guess for me I'm trying to eliminate having so much extra hose in the back of the truck. I'm not sure where I can hook up 2.5 if I don't do your setup modification. Sorry for the questions buying a new Butler today and I want to get it right
@@brianlawrence684 depending how much hose you want to carry will determine if you go with just one 50 foot section on the reel and then some 2 inch hose, or like we do. The 2.5 inch hose can connect to the top of the tank or a hose hook up they can mount on the reel or another area. Some of my newer videos show the Butler factory done Y splitter. It's nice. If you still want some live reel options like we do and want 2.5 inch hose you will want to get the 2.5 inch designed hose reel. Let me find a recent video if I can and share here
Thanks for all your help. I search for some of your latest videos.@@MarkSaiger
Wouldn’t the y effect the suction . Have you ever checked cfms sir
Great question... The Y actually has had very little if any negative effect on the cfm. When I have taken my vans to some carpet cleaning shows and done side by side comparisons, everyone has been pretty surprised and blown away by the performance from them. It's worked out quite well.
Hey Mark, if I understood correctly, you’re only bringing enough 2.5” sections up to the customer’s door and then switching to the 2” inside the home?
That's correct. We can carry on our Butler reels 100 feet of 2.5 but rarely use that amount, but we are prepared. But you are correct, we use 2 inch in a home. We carry it strapped up in 50 foot sections in the back of the van. We also carry in our 50 foot 2 inch lead lines
Great video!
Thanks Bob
Is this the first video?
This would be. This was before I had editing software showing what we had set up. Now Butler offers a real nice Y splitter since this video. It's something I came up with quite a few years ago and Butler has done a great job making a factory set up
@@MarkSaiger Awesome Mark! Have you thought about saving your files? I’ve seen this is an issue RUclipsrs have. They end up with a lot of external HDD’s.
Maybe reach out to fellow Canadian Linus from Linus Tech Tips for help. Would make a great video and collaboration. Love the channel!
@@Jimmy_MoonI now do save videos and content to hard drives. The older videos are scattered around though 😁
