I rented a R1250RT for a weekend as an extended test ride up in the Catskills. I bout my 2020 a few weeks later. Beauty is subjective however you can’t argue with function and riding dynamics. The RT is comfortable for long days and then happy to play around on mountain roads. I still have 3 Harleys in the garage but the RT gets most of the miles lately.
I have a 2022 1250 RT and the wind protection is second to none it will be the #1 thing that I miss about this bike...when you get tired of the noise the screen will silence the air around you it will also make the bike have a funny Woddle if it is up and you are getting to the faster speeds....
John, when you road the BMW it reminded me of riding my old yamaha super tenere. It was always fun for the first fifteen twenty minuetes, then it got boring. I also rode a 2022 gold wing, same thing. Give me my Road Glide ST, or my Low Rider ST any day. By the way my F 150 has a heated seat and steering wheel, and when drive it i can't feel the wind. Just sayin.
Love the RT ! I have a 19 , and they are great bikes! A very nice addition to my Road Glide , and Road King! John, I am curious to hear your reaction after riding the RT.
You should have tested the Horn. You would not believe how loud it is 😂. I owned 7 BMW bikes including the K1600, GS, GSA, RS. The 1250 RT has been the best so far. If I ever sell, the replacement bike has to be something very special. Maybe the new S1000XRM next year.
Hey John, a very impressive bike for a non Harley!! What’s more impressive is the 94 octane Sunoco, down south Jersey they’re eliminating them, and that was my go to gas.😡
If you have an opportunity, try a newer six cylinder K1600 GT. That thing is really something to behold! At 160 HP and 133 Ft Pounds of torque bone stock, it is an amazing ride!
Yes it does not surprise me as the RT’s are very nice sport touring motorcycles. I have the electra glide in the garage but that RT is very nimble, Very powerful and very lightweight and at 60 years old it’s easy to get used to that. I love my 2011 it’s my fifth RT. And I bought my first Electra glide when I was 24.
Dec. 7,8 and 9 me and 2 buddies headed to NVS audio to see Carlos again. How close are ya? meet for lunch/dinner. I will bring a sharpie for your check engine light lol
Yeah, only 93 octane is avaliable in my area. Years ago, a gas station in my area had a Turbo Blue pump. If I remember right, Turbo Blue was about 117 octane.

hey john would you know how tall of bar you can go before have to add brake and clutch lines? I have a 2021 and i think your bike is same year or newer so you have clutch cable as well. thanks
@@blade-x I know its top of the line, I believe I saw a radar pod, so this one has the "active cruise control".... But I still can't stand the looks of the thing 😉 Its to bulbus up front and there's no flow, just conglomeration of parts perched on little rims. 🤮

Hey 30 years ago I recall living in Oregon and New Jersey, both had a state law that you couldn’t pump your own fuel. Did that finally change or they won’t do it for bikes? Waiting to see your kids video on future changes to his bike, hope you hooked him up and showed him the game
Oregon changed their law this year. NJ is now the only state that does not allow self serve. Most attendants will look the other way for motorcycles though.
I was born in NJ. I pumped my own gas in my motorcycles. I left that shithole state and moved south in 1990. I now live in South Florida. We really ride all year. We don't get snow, black ice, sleet etc. We ride 365.

BT moto is great. Had my S1000XR flashed with new headers. Transformed the bike.

The horn is great as long as you don't fire it off accidently, I have the apology wave down pretty good.

In Australia our pumps have 91 95 and 98 octane I run 98 all the time.

I have a ‘22 and did 14” bars with the stock lines. That’s probably about as high as you can go without replacing them.
