HIGHLIGHTS: White Sox Clinch Series Win Over Guardians (5.11.24)

- The White Sox struck first in the top of the second inning with Bryan Ramos grounding out, second baseman Andrés Giménez to first baseman Josh Naylor. Nicky Lopez doubles on a sharp line drive to right fielder Will Brennan of the Guardians. Paul DeJong scores placing White Sox in the lead 1-0.
Martín Maldonado singled on a ground ball to left fielder Estevan Florial of the Guardians. Nicky Lopez scores placing the White Sox 2-0.
In the top of the fourth inning, Josh Naylor from the Guardian hits a home run on a fly ball to left field placing them at 2-1 against the White Sox.
Lastly, Andrew Benintendi swings at the first pitch and hits a sacrifice fly to left field in the bottom of the eighth inning. Andrew Vaughn comes home safely placing the White Sox 3-1.
Starting pitcher Mike Clevinger went 4.2 innings with 5 strike outs. Tim Hill came in in relief and pitched 1.1 with 1 strikeout. Jared Shuster tossed 2.0 with 2 strikeouts and John Brebbia closed out the game pitching 1.0 with 1 strikeout.
The White Sox defeated the Cleveland Guardians, 3-1, at Guaranteed Rate Field in Chicago, Illinois on May 11, 2024.

If they can keep it going and make it to .500 a little after the all star break we might have something to hope for. They're probably going to trade everyone anyway but its fun wish😅

Yeah, that must have demoralized the Indians, figuring if Maldo can get a hit and drive in a run, God must not want them to win.
Flexen looked pretty good last outing, Fedde seems good, Crochet could be very good, Clevinger has great experience and decent stuff now if the 2019 version of Soroka then we'd have a very good starting staff and that is the most important factor in obtaining a competitive winning team. Seems Kopech has the stuff to be a solid closer and there are a number of good holders. Pham should stay playing often and once Robert is back we will have a decent line up as finally Vaughn & Benedetti look to have found something

Finally! The weather is warming up and so are the White Sox, pitching and defense! I was so proud watching them take this game and Not let the bullpen give it up again. Hopefully this is the start of something nice going forward
