This cycle is vicious and as kids of an addict you honestly go one of two ways , you become an addict yourself or you create such a hate for it. I haven't seen my birth mom in over 10 years and know she gave herself to her fentanyl. I was more angry at her for jumpstarting my addiction by giving me pain pills like candy at 12. I now am 16 months clean and have developed a hate cuz I will he damned my babies sing this to me!

I'm 20 years old now and though I have met her for the first time as an adult just last year, it kills me because she missed out on my own childhood when I needed her the most. Until last year she...overdosed, I became depressed and suicidal. I went through a lot of therapy and eventually I felt better cause I got the help that I needed. I was a much happier person then I used to be...I got good grades, seeing my niece and nephew a lot....yeah everything was great until September of this year, I was told that my other cousin that was addicted to heroin also...overdosed. Then to make things even more worse, my aunt was diagnosed with stage 4 terminal breast cancer 😔😔😔 now I have to worry about her and how long I get to be with her. 😭😭😭
