There's something about the tone of this book that feels so 90's to me. This kind of satire was very in at the time. Reminds me of films like Falling Down, from the same time period.
I'd definitely recommend this book then! Loads of fun cyberpunk stuff in it. VR worlds, it's own Adam smasher, and the mob is just a treat in this book!
No, everyone predicted the metaverse. This is the ultimate fantasy end game we've been taught, and have taught eachother, to focus on throughout the years... Thats why it became real. We don't know anything different anymore... let me explain using a ridiculous metaphorical situation. Imagine you're an alien who falls out of the 2nd dimension and ends up in the 3rd with us. You have no concept of anything other than straight lines. As you take in this strange new reality you shake your head and scream "NO! NOOO! This can't be real!!", but IT IS. You make your way through a dank dark woodland until you finally stumble across a long, perfectly straight road that stretches as far as the eye can see. "Now this I understand!" You declare. Parked at the side of the road sits a car, and so you steal it and begin to drive it down the perfectly straight road. Now imagine you come to a corner... Do you think the car will change direction magically, or do you think you'll just end up as a dead alien in a burnt out car in a field? 🤔
What does the author mean by the abkhazian manager is using a spare tire to keep the three ring binder from collapsing shut? Am I the only one who found this weird?
No matter how much SOME people enjoy this book, it cannot actually be good “as literature”. I read it in high school in 2002. Now trying to see if I’d enjoy it now as an audiobook. I could barely finish reading. It is very unfortunate are that a lot of it sounds kind bad slam poetry. That isn’t a complement. I don’t know how I managed to put myself through this torture. Sentences and phrases are awkward. They sound unpleasant. Constant flow of descriptions of random items, random sci fi technology, and on top of that a bunch of inane commentary about life as a whole. It reads like a present continuous tense movie script for an average film at most. Overall I do see there are some interesting visions of the future, predictions of technological concepts, and predictions about economics and politics are occasionally interesting. But there was no shortage of booms like this at the time of this book’s release. Now I try to listen to it, and it still kind of cringy.
@Stopfear I say a hearty fuk you for that needlessly long string if nonsense. You stated exactly what is worthy about this reading, yet understood nothing. Go back to your coloring books and crayons, this material is for adults.
@@HippoKing.MP3 Mike Cernovich, producer of “Hoaxed” on Netflix interviewed with Alex Jones a couple of days ago and mentioned that this book describes the current state of affairs. Along with another one of the authors books which escapes me at the moment. Thanks
The author clearly delivered for Domino's in the 1980's
very underrated comment

Please ser, I need the whole book! This was one of the best narrations I’ve ever heard!!
Amazing narration! I wish you narrated the whole book - I'd purchase it!
Dont know that I'll ever find an audiobook narrator I can stand.
The search ever goes on!
Have you listened to the Jonathan Davis narration? I think he nails the tone of the book.
Try "Tom Hiddleston Reading High Rise Book" here on youtube. It's an interesting read and Tom was nice to listen to.
Jim Dale for Harry Potter is the GOAT

Deliberator. Does a fictious job get more 90s than that?

I also found it wierd, had to double take on my initial reading. I figure it's just such a massive binder that he needs to keep it propped open?
@@HippoKing.MP3 In the German Version they used "Rettungsring" (Lifebelt) as translation for Spare Tire, wich is used as Synonym for his (Fat) Belly.

This narrator needs some testosterone
I agree my voice is not ideal for these stories. I just love the books and want to share that love :)

It's not at all for everyone, I'll agree lol. This was more a passion project than anything heh
