Looks great mate. I think this bike is a bit of a unicorn. It's probably the only bike one can buy new in 2024 which is still carbureted, has a backup kickstart and no electronic assists. It's a bit like the DRZ (which you can still buy a kickstart conversion kit for) but this one has more power in stock trim and is a much lighter bike. Believe it or not quite a few people have put some adventure miles on the KLX450R and it's been touted as having a very reliable engine.
@@dune7824 Ha, I’d just resolved to sell the KLX and get a CRF450RL and you send me a message like this! My son and I planning some longer trips and doing some light ADV mods to his CRF450RL, already got the Nomad 20L tank on it and actually think I can get one to work on the KLX and seat concepts on both. I love the KLX but quite a lot of parts for it are tricky to come by now and the CRF is I think maybe the best platform around for this kind of go anywhere conversion. It’s certainly smoother if not a touch heavier than the KLX and the CRF’s 6th gear is a thing. And the fuel injection is actually pretty nice and a bit less temperamental. Well now you make me think twice for sure tho! Cheers 👊
Suggestion. Maybe a relay in that power circuit that is fed from a power on control wire. It will just drain your battery otherwise.
