Thank you, Aaron. I finally got asked to turn up my RCF J8s 2 weddings in a row and I'm looking at following your advice yet again. You were the deciding vote for the J8s themselves. Thanks for this review.
Aaron, great video as always, I nearly bought the Evox 12s a few years ago after using Yamaha’s for an age, ended up getting the FBT VN2000 rig, (similar specs) 13:01 which I love, however may consider the 12s in white just for the ease of transport. Greetings from over the pond 😊
They really are outstanding speakers! Had someone tell me on social media last week that they struggle to do 200 people events, but it's nice to see that someone else can work their PA properly. They could do with bringing out a new version, but I don't want them messing about with components or anything because they just stand up to everything I've heard in terms of sound, practicality (weight and ease of transport) and I still feel they are value for money - at least for us in the UK. I got mine at a steal price 2nd hand from a close friend, mint condition with covers and everything 🙌🏻 Very lucky!

Aaron great video. I have a complete RCF system and just added my second Evox 12 they are fantastic speakers but yes they always have a little damage similar to what you showed when they arrrived.
If you do go up from these then you can go with the RCF NXL 24-A MK2s. Those tops are still column array style and then pair it with a sub and you'll have your upgrade. I'm actually going this route as my upgrade from the Maui 28 G3s. Skipping over the Maui 44 G2s and Evox 12s

Hello Aaron. I'm also thinking about buying the RCF evo 12. I'm having a gig soon in a relatively small multi-purpose hall that will be converted into a disco that evening. Between 150 and 200 standing or dancing guests are expected. Do you think two RCF evo 12s would be enough here? A lot of bass-heavy music is played and I want to give the guests a decent sound without constantly being stuck in the limiter. Best wishes
@ thanks for the reply. I’m taking my new white pair out soon and was definitely going to have the BOOST on 😂. Now I know I don’t need to. I also use an external mixer. 👍
I have 2 Art 932s and 1 BassBoss BB15 with load sharp clear warm sound and the 932s sound great with the sub but would like to get the Evo 12s with 8 4 inch tops and a 15 inch sub for a well defined better sound
Hello Aaron nice review, I think they are great speakers, but for more of my Gigs I'm really happy with my LD Maui 28 G3, the think is here in Swizerland the have in more of the venues level restrictions over 95 db, in all of my Gigs I never play then until the clip. Perhaps in the USA you have different rules.
I get you. I have the little brother (J8) and they sound better than anything I've ever had. I also still have my Bose L1 compact (the cheapest version), and I have always loved the sound quality, but I outgrew them and only use them in case I need a satellite ones. I would gotten the J12's but they are too big and too expensive for me. If I were to do weddings and corporate events, I would definitely get a pair, but I am not that kind of DJ. I play restaurants and hotel pool. But I am glad to hear someone who gets them (I mean like they just get the job done) BTW the explanation for the bass boost is that it gives the sound more punch (presence) in lower volume. Somehow it balances out better.
Aaron, after watching about 100 hours of reviews on everything possible, to the point my brain froze, I went with the Bose L1 Pro 32. I'm not a dj but a singer songwriter looper. I can literally stand right in front of it and it not feed back. Whatever may not be perfect about that array compared to other systems, that consideration overrode it. No monitors, no in ears, being able to mix my sound with my own ears, which as a looper with bass, electric, acoustic, drum machine and keys can be quite complex, is fabulous.

I have access to the Evox 12's through another DJ but I mainly only use them at large gigs, like Prom. (They had no problem handling a 1000 student Prom and never redlined.) I'm waiting to see what EV drops before I purchase the Evox 12's for myself.
When they first came out they were just over a grand to buy. Sure everything has gone up in price but no way I’m shelling out almost 4k for a 10yr old system for a V2 to come out in the next 12-18 months and literally half my investment overnight. Miss for me.
Hey Aaron, first and foremost, that Even Steve Mix of Dynamite into Don't Stop Believin' rocks! I get such "Wow!" reactions when I play it at events. Secondly, thank you for the review of the Evox 12's. They are now my top new column array speakers to consider purchasing, as I want to get them in white. Speaking of which, with you having the white DJ booth (same one I have), why didn't you get the Evox 12's in white? I will be waiting until next year to see if EV comes out with a bigger white column array than the Evolve 50, which of course, is the big rumor floating around. If that doesn't happen, I'll likely be getting the Evox 12's in white next year. If EV does comes out with something better, then I'll be heavily comparing the two before making a decision. As always, thanks for all the great videos and keep up the great work!
I’ve had mine for a year the best and easiest speakers to carry around for gigs with that sound quality. Where can I get that journey mix its a good one .
It's a huge upgrade from the J8. Bigger louder sub and louder in general. I think the overall sound is better on the 12s cause you go from a 2" speaker to 4"
Would I be good with 2 evox J8s for a 150 person wedding? Or should I just go with 12s & dial it back if they are too much?? PS. I like Mike's "First Down" measurements 😆
It's all about the room you will be in.. A 300 people capacity high ceilings marbles walls nope.. you would need some 18" subs A smaller room low ceiling yes 100 people dancing levels.. not night club levels
🔥I'm a point source guy but for years I always been impressed by those RCF evox 12 when i hear them at other djs event 🔥 I think I'm about to contact my guy Will at Sweetwater for a finance quote, because they are a bit expensive 🤦🏽♂️ "By the way i own a 2011 nissan pathfinder for my dj equipment transport they're beast💪🏾 and age well with good maintenance, but im working on the upgrade "
Take a look at the so called “Equal Loudness Curves”. Those explain why the boost at low volumes. At low SPL, the human ear perceives bass and highs not as pronounced as mids. That’s why in every circumstance you can think of, we need to turn the music up to hear accurately. Boost is meant to increase the low frequencies so that at low volumes you can hear the music fuller. That being said, sub 705 is equal to evox 12 sub. They are both the least performing 15 subs RCF makes. So I’d sacrifice some output and run them with boost always on. Guests enjoy it more, subconsciously :)
Boosting the bass makes the woofer work a lot harder. If you’re “at the edge” and need that extra oomph, the bass boost won’t achieve anything other than pushing the woofer into distortion, while leaving some volume on the table in the HF section. Perception of volume is a fickle thing- the amount of perceived volume you get from boosting the bass is probably smaller than the increased power you’re requiring of the woofer- therefore, if you’re at the limit, RCF’s “running flat” recommendation will probably get you a bit more juice as you’re trying to amp things up. (Again, the max bass will be the same, the HF will just be louder)
Everything we run is RCF now. I'll be taking our smallest system, which is four Evox 12's, out in a couple weeks. No need for those 'bells and whistles' if you're plugging in and DJing. And RCF sound is hard to beat without spending a fortune.
Still hesitant to buy these types of speakers. I find most of my weddings are 300-500 people and I can always not push my JBL SRX stuff hard and have gas in the tank, but I don’t want to be asked to turn it up and not be able to. Maybe the Bose someday, I’ve heard them and the 32’s are incredibly loud and crisp.
The Evox series isn't even that old. QSC legacy K series is old now, but generally anything that is a known brand that was released in 2015 or later is still relevant today and what I would consider "current grade gear". 2011 to 2014 I would say is "aging" and any speakers released 2010 or ealier is older and essentially out of date for DJs to be using, but hey if that old apeaker still looks great, not too heavy, and sounds fine then rock on with it!
Pound for pound, from look, ease, throw, dispersion, mixer, Bluetooth, sound and flexibility, for mobile wedding work imo the Bose 32s with Sub 2s is king of the hill. No speakers checks every box, but no other speaker on the planet in the mobile wedding space checks as many boxes as a set of 32's.
I've used RCF speakers for years and years. Loved them always

I've used the J8s for bigger parties. If you don't have either one, I'd say go with the 12s and have the extra headroom
It's all about the room you will be in..
A 300 people capacity high ceilings marbles walls nope.. you would need some 18" subs
A smaller room low ceiling yes 100 people dancing levels.. not night club levels
These and the ORIGINAL Evox 8s are fantastic. The wood boxes are the best.
What is better? Evox 8 sstim or Art910 x
You said the first time with a “real” PA or something like that. Is the G44 included with the toys?
🔥I'm a point source guy but for years I always been impressed by those RCF evox 12 when i hear them at other djs event 🔥
I think I'm about to contact my guy Will at Sweetwater for a finance quote, because they are a bit expensive 🤦🏽♂️
"By the way i own a 2011 nissan pathfinder for my dj equipment transport they're beast💪🏾 and age well with good maintenance, but im working on the upgrade "
I don't own a pair but its the pair I've always wanted. They won't top the 44G2 in performance, but in portability, they will win that battle.
Still A Toy… BUT a Good Toy. Can’t Ever Beat a couple of Sweet 18” SUBS. Peace of mind over convenience. Love the Show My Brotha 🤘🏼🍺🤘🏼
Lucky that venue has those ceiling rags otherwise the echo in that joint would be brutal
“Ceiling rags” lol. This is one of my favorite venues. They have sound panels all over the walls and ceiling
Im betting a Mk2 version is coming out next year....its overdue!
How do they compare to Maui 44G2?
How do they compare to the sound of the 44G2's?
shooting that video tomorrow (Thursday). Should be out before Thanksgiving
what was the guest count for this wedding?
About 170
Can we see that stand you supply for the officiant?
Just put a link in the description for it
@ can you do an unboxing video on it? It seems like a lot of pieces to set up. Why don’t you offer it as a package? Extra
I thought you was a lover of the BOSE L1 Pro 16 ?
RCF say turn the volume to the max and control from your desk
I've heard this- I need to see it somewhere. It's not in the manual
DJ blinky (I’m always looking too)
Still hesitant to buy these types of speakers. I find most of my weddings are 300-500 people and I can always not push my JBL SRX stuff hard and have gas in the tank, but I don’t want to be asked to turn it up and not be able to. Maybe the Bose someday, I’ve heard them and the 32’s are incredibly loud and crisp.
With crowds that big, you're right. I think these will let you down
The JBL srx sound beautiful
hard to justify the cost without dsp and an app/software. I do wish id bought them pre pandemic price increase.
Having them the same price as the Maui's seems a bit outta line. I agree
Mine was the same way when I received mine returned mine twice (CHIPPED)
FOAM IN THE BOXES RCF- PLEASE
@ mine has foam in them at the corners but was still messed up
@ the mix for evensteve I need that
Only ones I’m sold on are the maui’s. The rcf’ dont hit hard enough for me
video on this is coming! shooting it tomorrow
Mic check tip: say your abc's instead of "mic check" over and over. it's less annoying and if you hear letters cut out, you know you have a problem.
oh and I am a total trailer guy with all my gear now lol..
The best speakers out fuck every other brand, had mine for 3 years everyone says my sound is great
bass doesnt perform as well at low volume, thats probably what the button is for, it is like the "loudness" button on old Hi-fi equipment
Just get the Everse 12. Faster set up💪🏽😁
Absolutely no comparison to this style of system, though?
Those songs are the only thing that's old
Oh Ernie..
You’re really gonna convince me to buy new speakers around the holidays ?! This is just cruel ! (They’re in the cart as we speak) lol
@@koproductions8266 I’m a menace 😂
Its amazing but I wont buy it untul they released a mk2 but rcf are not great on dsp etc
I want to buy 2 of these in 2025 to upgrade from the 8's.
My guy here loves old technology, RCF Evox 12, QSC Touchmix…probably uses a horse and buggy to get to events.
😂 Ruthless!
It's a speaker man, how many redesigns does it need?
My Horse and Buggy has a Bose sound system at least!
😂
Maui 44’s sound better
In your opinion
Two pairs Evox 12 pair 8003 😂😂😂😂
I love my Evox 12 #evox12 alltheway
Awesome
Przerzuciłem tony sprzetu Rcf evox 12 jest nie do pobicia miażdżą wszystko dynamika moc
Yes it is old. It doesn't have Bluetooth capability and it only has one xlr input.
should have kept your Bose.
Still have one set!
