I don't remember if I told you but the story behind this but here it is. Tom and and Nova were living in Crenshawin in South Central Los Angeles. They were beyond broke. They had their electricity cut off and were facing eviction. Tom went out on his porch to smoke his last half of a cigarette, he sat down and started writing Dear Rappers. He said it only took him 20 minutes to write it. He ran back in the house and told Nova that he just wrote the song that would change their lives. He told her that he wanted to make a video, so they ran an extension cord from the neighbors house to their house so they could have light. The next day, Tom borrowed money from friends and family and an investor raised $1200 to buy a Facebook ad and released it to the world, and the rest is history! Next is Castles, and its deep. Tom always comes with a message and this was the first of his songs to go viral doing it. 🔥 He had just recently come back to LA after a mental breakdown that had him living with his mother for almost a year, he and Nova had just become a couple and were struggling to make it with music. He was fighting not to relapse, which he lost a round or two with, but ended up winning the fight in the end. Tom uses his music as therapy and he realized that he could help other people and as well as himself. He puts his all into his music. I am a rock and metal fan not much of a rap fan but he is my favorite artist right now. I am liking other Independent artists as well because of him. DEAR RAPPERS DESCRIPTION Tom and Nova both were completely broke the night that he wrote this song. They were facing eviction from their apartment that was infested with mice and roaches and also had no electricity because they couldn’t pay the bill. Tom sat out on the front stoop and lit his last half cigarette and typed these lyrics into his phone. He said it was like an Epiphany struck him after he finished writing it and that he got really excited and ran in the house and told Nova that he had just written the one that was going to change everything! They recorded the video that night after Tom recorded the vocals! The reason the video was so simplistic is because they only had one light which was hooked up to an extension cord plugged in to a neighbors house. Nova covered the bulb with red wax paper to give it the red tint! Tom said he borrowed a total of $1000 from five different people to pay for advertising of the video on Facebook and RUclips and it went viral in three days!! And the rest is history!
