  • In this episode of Piggypower, I'll show you how a spring lock coupler works and how the tool for getting them uncoupled also works...
    simples.
    These work great for A/C systems and some fuel systems tool.
    Inexpensive set I bought:

    I usually work on 1970's and older antiques and classics.... but my 2007 just had an AC dryer leak... I was puzzled how the line came apart.... and go back together.
    Thanks for taking the time to video it, for us shade tree wrenchers.

      I used the plastic bent wrench type, not the pac-man type. I did have to hold my mouth just right and stand on one leg, while winking with one eye to get it to work. Now, get the A/C dryer back on at the firewall, was a little trying... I think I got it clicked back in. Took 2 cans(A/C PRO small cans) and needs 1/2 of another. But, it blows cold already.
      Finger crossed! Texas heat is a killer.

    Thanks for this. I easily forget about these type of fittings. I found these on fuel lines before but never a/c until today. Now if I can remember where I put my tool.

      You can use a piece of thin plastic, cut a strip and wrap it round the pipe and push it in. Fiddly and awkward compared to the right tool but it does work

    the little white ring is actually a tool to depress the spring but they usually don't work and just break

    • @PiggyPower
      @PiggyPower  5 лет назад

      Afaik it's to try and prevent the ingress of dirt? As they clip into place on the connector. . . And don't have a deep enough part to get to the spring... I'm interested to know if they are indeed a tool for this purpose but I would be surprised. Any further info? 👍🐷💪

      @@PiggyPower I also thought that first, that's why i snapped them and took them off. But then I saw it in another video during my research. He actually took the line off once with the ring without breaking any pins. I tried it and they just broke. and for me they also didn't hold up there for dirt or water protection. Anyway I think they are useless but the video is "How to remove A/C line" from World Mechanics in case you wanna check for yourself

      Piggy Power on how to video's I think it gets in the way. ppl usually don't balance it well. voice is too soft or the music is too loud. now, lets say you're building something then its cool.
