    Nick Gonzales has been playing really good DK. Paul Skenes has been a cut above. The team is showing promise and they can move ahead. The time is now. Thank you Dk, Great show

    It’s weird watching the Pirates have young exciting talent again. The time to win is now!

    Nick is such a bright spot on this team. He's always thinking, he's always hustling, and you can count on him to go the extra mile during every AB, on every defensive play, etc. A team full of Nicks on the position-player side just might be unstoppable!
    Regarding today's J1Q: Skenes is such a natural leader, whether or not he's fully tapping into that attribute right now as a Pirate. Each time I hear him speak he immediately comes across as such a calming influence. I trust his intelligence, I trust his compassionate nature, and I certainly trust him as an overwhelmingly talented pitcher who will continue to make adjustments and keep improving. I was hoping, perhaps too soon, that the Pirate players would fight like heck to provide enough run support in every single one of Skenes' starts. However, that's an issue for another day.

    The Skeens game made me scratch my head on the lineup. Did the Pirates say Hey Skeens here pitch w no help? Gonzales is a heck of a ballplayer!!

    #J1Q
    Is it time for the Triolo experiment to end? He is batting .204 and had 3 ugly strikeouts again yesterday.
    Liover Peguero is batting .267 is Indy with 43 RBI. I know AAA is a different animal, but he also played better than Triolo last year in Pittsburgh. His attitude is also infectious, and seemed to make everyone around him better.
    What does Pirates brass see in Triolo and not see in Peguero?

    You wanna know Nicky G’s secret? He swings first pitch in the majority of his at bats. If that ball is anywhere close to the strike zone. He’s letting it fly. He told Andy Haines to stuff his approach somewhere undelightful

    • @meddyven
      @meddyven 4 месяца назад

      Nick is much more agressive now, especially on first pitches. He turned his hitting around, no thanks to Haines.

      @@meddyven I love that he has a “fuck it” attitude up there. He was on like a 1-18 or so mini slump last week, approach never changed then goes multi hit in the 2 of the last 3. Kids a ballplayer. He needs to recommend his hitting coach to Jack Shitwinski and Jared Freeoutolo

    Agree 100% about Gonzales. I'd take a roster full of him. One tough SOB - unlike his partner up the middle - primadonna Cruz. Nick went from his second base position and sprinted after a pop up behind short that the primadonna Cruz just didn't feel like trying for - feeling sorry for himself that he muffed up a double play just before that along with striking out three times or more. It's not gonna happen - but Shelton needs to have a 'Jim Leyland Barry Bonds spring training moment' with the primadonna Cruz. Like I said - it's not gonna happen. Isn't anyone else sick and tired of the media (not you DK) and especially the announcers and post gamers talking about the primadonna's exit velocity when he eventually does hit the ball? WHO CARES?? What's the exit velocity on the 14 strikeouts out of every 20 at bats??? And don't even talk about the missed season last year because of the ankle - that's OVER - his problem is attitude not ankle !! I know Triolo ain't hitting for crap lately but I would have him out there before primadonna Cruz. Triolo is a tough SOB just like Gonzales.

    A 3-3 homestand followed by a 3-3 road trip. Treading water at its finest. If not for the pitching staff the Pirates would be buried in last place. I don't know that I've ever seen a weaker lineup than what they're running out there on a daily basis, and I've been watching this team since the '60s.
    There are decent hitters to be had in a trade. Even Nutting said why not act early. Have a good draft and replace the precious prospects you deal with new ones.
    The future is NOW, Mr. Cherington. Be bold!

    They needed him to stick and I'm happy he is b/c Triolo looks like more of a glove man then with the bat. I wish Skene's or even Keller speak up towards the management and move them to make the team better.

    If ever Nutting would feel compelled to invest in this team, Skenes is the guy you do it with.

    DK, I am glad you highlighted Gonzales. I watch him come to the plate and he just seems to want to be a hitter. Conversely, when Suwinski comes to the plate, he has that "deer in the headlights" look, and some of his swings Sunday were just pitiful.

    • @meddyven
      @meddyven 4 месяца назад

      As soon as Suwinski comes to the plate, it's an automatic out. .168 won't cut it in ANY league! He is completely overmatched!

    No way for the Pirates to win the division.
    San Diego, Arizona, San Francisco, Saint Louis, Atlanta & New York all ahead of us in the wild card race...still have to worry about Chicago and Cincinnati and Washington....
    Who does that leave that we DON'T have to worry about? Colorado and Miami....
    This team is waaayyyy underachieving! Time to sack Da'wreck and Andy Paines!! Two more one run scored games this weekend.....cheeez!
