Thank you for your video. I am decluttering after moving and have my mother's Hoover Shampoo Polisher 5464 , blue version, which brings back many memories. I remember it is light and easy to use. I think it can use in my new home and local church when we do spring cleaning - at least now I know what does what as I don't have the instruction booklet! Thank you for your explanations.

Hoover’s French and German made machines were some of their highest quality and often most advanced products.
I’m not a fan of this method of shampooing a rug as I don’t care for how the brushes leave the tops of the fibers permanently separated, however there’s still no better way of polishing and buffing a wood or marble floor than the high speed buffing method. Butcher’s Wax works wonders on wood flooring and here’s a rare tip, using coconut oil on marble floors creates a sheen incomparable to any other polish on marble. Ask any serviceman who’s ever served at Andrew’s Airforce Base in the Philippines where marble is every floor on the island and people polished their floors for millennia by splitting a coconut and rubbing the husk around the floor with their foot. JUST FABULOUS!
    People are Amazing!

It first went on sale in 1970 in that colour. It was replaced by model F4002 about 1977.

(1:18) - I think they were once both the same colour, but one has been stored in the sun, and has bleached over time.
If you look at the light coloured one, you'll notice that it is the same colour as the darker one, at one point on its rim.
This side must have been facing away from the light.

The design looks like a giant Philips electric shaver! Remember school using these for the small halls and classrooms back in the day for that super shiny finish.
Classic design and great colour. Put a couple of LED light strips in the tank and this would also make a nice lamp! Great video, can't wait to see the full demo.

My family had one of these in the 1970's. It was effectively an electric version of the Bex Bissell carpet cleaner and for its time it worked very well, although the carpets were soaked in the process. They took quite a few days to completely dry out so only to be undertaken in the summer! Happy memories.

I always thought these would make using the older bissell big green carpet shampooers easier to use so your not having to do the scrubbing yourself and i also think that combination is better then any upright extractor on the market currently

Hoover USA named each color of its large spectrum of hues, shades, and tints. One wonders if the overseas Hoover companies did; and if so, if any of its collectors or enthusiasts have composed lists of them as they've done in the States?

We had a Sears floor polisher when I was young, so a Very long time ago ...it was wonderful. As was the intoxicating smell of traditional Johnson's carnauba paste wax in a tin. I left it in my parent's house when I sold it ...long with many other treasures. Including various vacuums. Nothing like genuine carnauba wax on oak floors ...the shine the smell.

Congrats on purchasing such a classic Hoover France cleaner--looks and sounds fantastic! The base style is known as "Mickey Mouse" in the US-ha. It was introduced around 1963 here and made for about a decade in several different model colors; then it reverted back to the earlier rectangular style-likely for improved perimeter cleaning. Anyway, the US model 5460 in marine blue is very similar to yours. The encapsulation method using dry foam shampoo is effective at light maintenance cleaning between deep cleans using the extraction method that is much more popular with consumers. Here's a fun UK commercial featuring the Hoover shampoo-polisher:ruclips.net/video/ji27FzSttbU/видео.html

Well, this brings back a lot of memories. We had almost the same model here in the USA. And it's definitely from the 1970s. Probably the early 70s. They are really like work horses and they never fail. They would have benefited from a bit of a stronger motor and a faster spinning brush. But, all in all, their very great for scrubbing the kitchen floor. Of course, they don't suck the water up. But that's a small price to pay. You can usually get them on eBay pretty cheaply too.
