It's so weird to me that defenses of this company usually come to "Well you shouldn't have believed what they told you!"

Yeah or ‘it’s Alpha’ like CIG don’t have to work to some sort of schedule because it’s an Alpha like any other company is another way people justify CIGs behaviour.
And cig seems to also ignore that they are the one saying these things, then telling off backers for misunderstanding. You can’t even say the word promise anymore with a disclaimer that technically cig never promised. It’s just constant trying to change the narrative always in cigs favour. They can never just own up and say yes we did say that and then properly explain why they got it wrong and then say sorry !

What they told you? CR literally stated four times in last years CitCon that all that they showed they EXPECTED to have it in our hands by end of 2024, let me repeat it for you, EXPECTED. @@tboneforreal I have no doubt at best it will be open PTU in fact I always advocate for open PTU being Christmas patch that way if it ends up being unplayable at least people can play the old content.
Ray justifying constant delays and fuck ups with "it's the reality of game dev" when CIG devs stated "yeah we built many of these assets before we had any idea of how the game would work", which is essentially the antithesis of how game dev is done in all functional studios.
Ray was like: "Why do you expect what they set up?"
For this logic, CIG should just stop talking (i wouldnt mind actually) but they still need to sell ships and engage in FOMO tactics as well with artificial scarcity. The one thing i give to CIG is that they know how to sell a dream better then most, but the rest is hot garbage.
And for what i see with most backers is that they have actually gone a bit "insane" in the way that they dont expect nothing or just "live in the moment" and call out other people that bring actual accountability to CIG:
Like, responsability still exists you know, you need to respect your customers and well as their time is not just going and saying "if its too much for you, leave" or "complaining? leave", this is living proof of "programming" that goes on with some people´s mind and as far as i see it.
People who complain/criticise a game are the one that really care about it not people with that toxic positivity that makes people complacent and get nothing done.

One of the things that rubs me the wrong way about that line of reasoning is that it boils down to the ends justifying the means. I've seen several heavily invested folks claiming that it's OK that CIG deceived a bunch of people by a decade on what the schedule was supposed to be because it will (allegedly) lead to some grand vision being delivered later. I've seen others say that it's OK that they've reduced scope on several features over the years because the features they want are still (supposedly) being worked on, but I suspect they would feel different if those had been cancelled too. Basically it's an unethical line of argument that anything short of murdering puppies is ok as long as they get a cool game eventually (and some of them seem ok with sacrificing puppies too if that would help CIG).

This isn’t Ray saying it’s ok, it’s him saying you can’t control them and what they do, so control how you feel about it. But the issue is, I think saying you are upset is ok. Saying you are losing hope…is valid.

Could be worse - I called my ship, it got halfway up the platform, my game froze, PC hard rebooted, and I couldnt get back into my primary Windows account until I did a system restore.
Played the entirety of 3.22/3.23 without any issues outside of FPS drops in cities and the occasional "fall out of ship in QT" bug. Now I'm terrified to open the game at all.
@@IrisCorven jeeez it really is a mess right now but technically no where near as bad as 3.18. Only because you couldn’t log in half the time. So this time around I could say the bugs aren’t bothering me but that’s only because one bug is preventing all the others from doing so 😂
Salty has a dumb take on Stoicism. Stoicism isn't about not feeling emotion, it's about controlling your emotions, not letting them control you. You can control them with practice. Stoicism provides tools to better do that.
I don’t disagree, but using it to shun other people is inappropriate. Especially when they were level headed.
@saltemikereacts Go through Marcus Aurelius' "meditations". There's lots of good summarized audiobooks of it, some are 30min. I recommend listening through it in your spare time. At the very least, you will be more informed about it, at most it could change your worldview for the better for the rest of your life.

the power of the mind isn't necessarily the suppression of feelings, it's how you process and communicate them.... at points unfiltered emotional outbursts escalate situations past the point of resolution, but sometimes it is the only way to really impact the listener... it stems from the angry fighter analogy. uncontrolled emotions cause the person to make bad decisions that end up causing them more harm than good. it's kind of like the whole Jedi thing lol...
there is some direct correlations between what he is talking about and what you are talking about earlier on in video. even though it's very good to convey how you feel, but doing it in a way where it stays as a discussion or debate, and doesn't degrade into an argument or fight is very important. butting heads and boycotting isn't going to get anywhere except double the production time or just closures.
this was a big reason i've been pushing the concept of compromising when you can, but not where you can't. sometimes balance can be found in a compromise on a single topic, sometime people just have to accept. although, sometimes not compromising is finding a solution to be able to do both at the same time...

Stoicism is not stupid Mike. You just dont know what it really is. Try actually reading Meditations, not letting Danny cherry pick and contort the truth.
It is not "stand there and take it." Nor does it mean ignoring or negating your emotions - that is a complete misunderstanding or misrepresentation. Stoicism means controlling that which you CAN control. And Mike, you DO control your emotions. Losing your cat did not cause you to lose control of your life, you literally spoke about it intelligibly AND emotionally.
Meanwhile Stoicism does say that If you think the game you are paying for sucks, spend your money elsewhere. Move on if you must.
Ray's take on all this sounds like "If you are having a bad time with the game, remember that you can always gaslight yourself".
This is how I handle it.. haven’t logged in since 3.18.. come check out the updates realize it’s a tech demo move on and hope for the best in years to come.. I’m sure we all wasted money on shit we regret.. maybe the investment will payoff if not someone will come around and do it better..

Thanks for the message about not jumping to hate on people. I completely agree that it's okay and healthy to disagree with or dislike something someone says while still being kind and friendly towards them. Very important lesson that way too many people will never learn unfortunately.
Stoicism as its modernly viewed is somewhat “stupid.” Its trying to become what CS Lewis called “men without chests.” The useful aspect of what stoicism teaches is to have self control and exercise your will towards your ends. To practice stoicism as ray suggests is to mold yourself into the form of a fool.
Feel the feelings. Control yourself, use the emotions if they can be. And exercise your will towards your ends. Exercise your will towards what you can if the generator of those emotions need changing

mike, stoicism is exactly what you are saying how you react to certain things. stoicism is not about becoming a cold man of iron or smth. it is about knowing yourself, be aware of the consequences those emotions can have on you and your surroundings and try to better yourself by steering those often overpowering emotions correctly; altogether in a fashion that is self accepting. The stuff people present on tiktok is some serious half-assed wisdom which is ultimatively selfharming BS.
To be honest, some of these things can be fixed but what it looks like is that solo playership is going to vanish or become impossible. That's my two cents, I fight for the solo citizen.
Marketing is a business function, they make suggestions to senior management, they shouldn't be in control of anything.

I still remember how players back in late 2022 were expecting 4.0 in mid-2023 at the latest.
At this point, it seems extremely unlikely that 4.0 live will make it to the game in 2024 and I wish people would be more honest about that.

I get annoyed at people who go down this stoicism path and use it as an argument to beat your emotions into submission. I think stoicism has a lot of great things to say, so long as you don't ignore the giant asterisk that emotions have a seat at the table, they cannot be discounted as a factor. Your emotions are a part of the world that cannot be controlled. I can't still my shakey knees before jumping out of an airplane, it's foolish to think I can. Emotion needs needs NEEDS to be factored into the response and not ignored. And disappointment in a dissappointing year for CIG is nothing to be discredited.

I hope one day this game will be everything its supposed to be. Its just been so long. I was a very young man when this all started now i have teenage kids and im middle-aged. Almost feel aged out of this game lol.

6:51 marketing is not most important. Good product is most important. With good product marketing can sky rocket an income without to much problem. With bad product even the best marketing team will eventually fail.
This is how it should be, but it isn’t how it is. A well made product should be what leads to success, but there comes a point of market saturation where knowing which product is the good one is infeasible and making the better product becomes more expensive than other alternatives.
Eventually increasing your market share (advertising) becomes a more cost effective, though shortsighted form of revenue increase. Once market saturation reaches peak comes the scarier part of marketting. Once a better product becomes difficult to create and the market is saturated, the next consideration is how do you change your customer base, how do you extract more from what you have reached. how can you sell more to that audience or how can you mold them into a better consumer of your product (also a function of marketting and sales tactics).
These steps don’t have to be followed though. Skipping the quality product phase and market saturation phase is viable and just extracting as much as you can from your customer base and making your customer base into better consumers who lead others into the customer base works as well no matter the state of the product. This too is accomplished by marketting.
@@Ogata123 You have a good point here, and I'm agree if only marketing become a leaver to aquire income and improve a product. This will allow long tearm goals and stable income. Good product is also needed product, so if there is to high saturation for example in hero shooters genre, chosing to create this type of game is bad product decision. Look at the Concord. Marketing for this game was huge, but game died after 11 days.

Concord’s failing was partly tied to its marketting. Who and how you market your game can turn off prospective consumer bases. Most of the reviews ive read or watched (i havent tried it because their marketting pushed me away), say its a competetent shooter, but did its style. If the game’s style was chosen purely for ideological reasons, then marketting isnt at fault, but it so strongly apeing marvel guardians of the galaxy aesthetics annd those ideological reasons being tied to percieved markets tells me marketting is at play there

I think that one of the "problems" are the amount of money they got in 2019,2020,2021. And it made them/Chris rething a lot, and the scope of the game therfor got bigger and bigger. (Chris has never changed just read about his other games, and with more money they can always go even more crasy.) Is this a good or bad thing is not for me to say, its your own expectations and your invested time and money that sets that.
If we dont "accepts" others opinions, or if we dont dair to say our own opinions, we are fucked!

If you think stoicism is about not having or allowing feelings you don't get the point of stoicism. You have feelings, you have thoughts and stoicism is about that you're neither of it. You have it but you are not it that is a huge difference. You're sad that your cat died perfectly fine. Stoicism is about the awareness that no feeling or thought of yours will change the fact that your cat is on her last journey. If this sadness starts to hinder you, stoicism teaches you that you are in control of your feelings, your feelings don't control you. It is absolutely not about not having feelings.
Ray has only be doing videos for three to four years. I feel his reaction towards delays is typical for someone at that age.

CIG never said that it would, if anything you could only make the assumption they were planning yo show 4.x features. Don't get me wrong - I love Ray, but there are times where he has some lofty aspirations for this game, and is extremely apologetic FOR CIG, and a bit blind to how individuals are allowed to be disappointed or annoyed with the communication/timeline.
I dont agree with a lot of the things ray says , but i like most of his videos, and he seems like a genuinely good dude.

I dont sense the hindsight 2020 mentality from Ray because its not after the fact. He's simply saying that based off a list of facts it is obvious that 4.0 will come out in Q4 so he doesn't get the gripe of so many CC's when they should have seen the sign and knew better. Mike, i am so happy that you support and like to watch Ray's videos, but truth be told I completely disagree his video's and his takes. He comes across so pompous and full of himself. He states things as fact and he is guessing as much as the rest of us. I don't believe CitCon was supposed to be about 4.0, but more about S24 and it's release. But now it's going to be "road to Pyro" for the 4th freaking year in a row. Good video once again!

Listen. Mike, you are wrong about stoicism.
I dealt with depression for 5 years. Soft people kill themselves and soft people give up. You can take a break for a few weeks but then you find another path to a cure. You do what needs to be done and then you find the next.
Stoicism is also not about your dog or cat dying and not crying. Stoicism is about how you react to others or being calm in an argument.
People that sit and complain all day about how much their life sucks are weak people. If they learned the stoic life, they could heal. The problem is that it takes time and discipline.
Would be more helpful if people stopped defending the indefensible with CIG! 800 million. 12 years almost and no finished (or fully released) game (SQ42 or SC). Mike, Morph and everyone else has a right to feel upset and hopeless right now given the simple facts and I agree everyone should be allowed to express how they feel about it.

As for this tech demo, I have left it now, two weeks into the release of 3.23 and now with the way the tech demo, in my mind, has taken a downwards trajectory, I just dont play, because I just get angry or depressed, because it is not the game I felt at the time CIG, was promissing or talking about! Now i just watch content vids like this react vid from Mike!

I think it sucks that people complain about Morphs vid! I Thought it was great that He shared His thoughts, and they were a bit salty! The die hards who turn a blind eye or excuse anything bad, the cynics who can’t see anything good even if it happens, the players who think the game should cater only to how they like to play, the backers with an addictive spending trend for a game that hasn’t come very far in 12 years or being sold so hard by a possible dream that it impacts you on such a deep level when it doesn’t come to fruition.
It’s a game at the end of the day. It’s probably unwise to invest too much of yourself in any game, financially, emotionally or intellectually.
The worse part is CIG played on that one specific emotion and have milked the community for a ton of money.
Pretty sure CIG is more an example of applied psychology than something novel needing to be researched.
Its getting all the responses you typically see from mobile game advertising, MLM schemes or cults, and gambling addiction.

If there was a publisher, SC would already be cancelled because CIG wouldn't even have proven that they can produce the technical infrastructure for such a project. you are right in that regard. As far as what Mike said about PTU, yeah PTU is for testing and feedback. It's not to bug fix broken features that are half baked. Those things should be done already either in evokati or in the dev build, we should get the mostly finished feature and be able to give feedback on that before it goes to live.
The bit about stoicism. Stoicism is just a system that encourages you to recognize when you are experiencing an emotion, so that when you're experiencing that emotion and going to react to it, you think about ways you can react that are at the very least not harmful to you and ideally beneficial to you. It in no way requires that you suppress an emotion or not acknowledge a feeling.
In this context, a reaction to being disappointed or angry about the development of the game could be to Doom about it, and start a boycott. That is detrimental, to yourself and to the game.

Stoicism would encourage you to think about the reaction you would have to that anger and disappointment, and in a Creator's case, make a video expressing your discontent so that others can know that this outcome was unacceptable and disappointing and that you expect better going forward. Beneficial, gives the devs feedback. Allows other people who are not content creators to recognize that maybe they feel the same way as other people.

Level headed doesn't mean agrees with me. I think it just seems that way because people that say level-headed are trying to keep their head instead of losing their minds like so many other people do. It's being rational and calm as opposed to freaking out.

Levelheaded has to do with tone and approach. It’s not about agreement. Reaction videos are too much about listening to figure out how to respond and not to actually understand. Guess why they are called reaction videos. lol.

So you can feel that exactly about morph and someone with a different view can have a complete different view on Morph. Of course there is an objective reality but most people don’t operate there lol
He didnt say he wasn’t level headed, he said even level headed content creators were creating videos about losing hope. Which morph did elude to in his video or podcast with Tomato.
