Rory, while I broadly empathise with the diverse ethic diversity in the current Tory government, I have to agree with your interviewer that their backgrounds are not so diverse, and certainly having a cabinet made up of extreme right wing millionaires is not diverse on it’s outlook. Johnson’s night of the long knives, as you suffered, has removed middle ground thinkers from the room and therefore it becomes a monoculture of rich kids egging each other on to please their leader.

The Brexit campaign shows why it would be much harder for Labour to have a leader from a minority background. Whereas Labour and its supporters would not ostensibly exploit xenophobia and racism against a Tory from an ethnic minority, the reverse is not true.
Similarly, it is easier for a politician from an ethnic minority to be very right wing and even hostile towards ethnic minorities. A liberal Conservative home secretary from an Indian or other minority background would have met extra hostility from in the media and from Tory right-wingers.

Doing the job of government for them. They wouldn't need beer halls now, just a darkened room and a computer!

  • @DevonMcFarlane

I absolutely love to hear the reasoning of Rory even though I'm very very far away from being a Tory.
That said regardless of the cultural backgrounds of the diverse pool of Conservative leadership talent every single diverse offering is so rightwing that they're success is to the detriment of there cultural backgrounds.
This isn't new to the conservative party as the iron lady didn't create any policy to better the prosperity of British women or woman's equality beyond being a figurehead for the right.
Like Margaret Thatcher this Conservative diversity serves the needs of a media top trumps way more than it serves the diversity of contemporary Britain.
Which is as much of a shame as it may seem cynical.

What Rory is speaking to when he makes the point that politics and indeed parliament is no longer about discourse but performance for people who are not present...in psychological terms that is called triangulation, where people play to the performance that garners the greatest reaction, rather than seeking a meaningful response. It's one of the prime traits of narcism; seeking to accrue attention, and manipulate that attention and use it as influence, rather than relationship.

There may be racial diversity in the Tory leadership race, but there sure ain't social or regional diversity.
One Northerner. (Sunak in Richmond hardly counts.) One person with a genuinely working class background. Both final contenders grads of Oxford. (Sunak, like Patel, is from a higher caste family, with plenty of cultural capital.)
One of Rory's limitations is his failure to assign importance to cultural capital. My paternal Great Grandparents would have been multi-millionaires. My Grandfather was destroyed mentally and emotionally by the Great War and couldn't run the family firm, which got sold off, along with a lot of property the family owned.
But my father, having started life as a factory hand, ended up as a manager in a big insurance company. I then went to Cambridge. My children are high earners and have have rapid rises in their careers.
    Cultural capital.
Yet I could claim I had a working class background as my father was a factory worker when I was born.
Bunter clearly misread all of Classical history. It's like reading Gibbon and choosing to model yourself on the worst Emperors. Silly, as they usually ended up being murdered by their own soldiers or whomever, often after a remarkably - if predictably - short reign.
The real problem is that the Tory Party voted him in, despite his appalling disloyalty to Mrs May, to say nothing of his record of lying, incompetence and superficiality, and a complete absence of the qualities needed by a successful PM.

ALL Parties are registered for profit businesses. As are most of not all MP's. They are indeed ALL actors. I know I have posted this before but I shall continue to until I can see enough likes and replies to be sure that a fair number of people have read it. It IS vital information. Tbh, at least one or two channels should have read and checked the info by now and have made a video. As they should about the committee of 300 (hardly any have). WHY haven't they?
"When a Government Becomes a Corporation - What You Need To Know " (profit seeking business - not to represent the people and undoubtedly ALL countries not only England) on 'The Bridge' website. Since Elizabeth I, which I didn't know until yesterday. Via a less censored search engine of course. If I name the two I use the comment won't post. One starts 'Yan' and the other 'Bin'.
Left wing. Right wing. Same banker family vulture in the middle along with their royal relatives and politician family members. Seems it always has been since the Romans, when I think about it, but definitely Elizabeth I 😖
I knew that the government UK Ltd was registered as a business at Companies House on the 29th June 2005 now applied for strike off after it appears to have been used to asset strip us, with all departments and buildings being assigned to commercial corporations (such as EDF, Walmart etc) abroad and registered at Dun and Bradstreet USA, not the branch in England. Possibly some are registered in other countries and tax havens. Many have been renamed or are now 'owned' by another corporation, which is owned by another, creating layers to make it difficult to find the actual (fraudulent) 'owners' . The government UK Ltd no longer trades and has not produced accounts recently as legally required to Companies House. Until around four months ago it was owned by Laird James Coutts (same spelling as the royal bank) as sole 'owner' and might still be (same spelling as in the Royal Bank). The name of the 'owner' seems to now be hidden from public view. The first application to strike off from Companies House was two or three years ago when there was a 'rumour' it was to be assigned to a the Crown Corporation - before that also was assigned yet again to another. However, due to an objection the strike off was postponed. At the moment you can still see the registration at Companies House.
You can see the application for strike of in the London Gazette.
You can see the accounts from previous years by searching "accounts of The Government UK Ltd Companies House". At least you can at the time of writing.
All departments, various NHS, local authorities, courts, police and buildings either listed at Dun and Bradstreet USA, not the branch in England, or at Companies House along with the buildings. Asset stripped! look it up.
Further, Queen Elizabeth II was registered dead under her full names and titles in early 2017 on the Government Registry for deaths. After I posted it a few times it was shadow banned from public view via the Web. However, only the Monarch can wear the State Robe and indeed is legally required to wear it to open Parliament. The actresses have never worn it nor a copy (they probably think no one would notice). We have had no Monarch for over 5 years and Parliament has not been lawfully nor legally opened in that time. Statutes (for the fraud they have turned out to be) must be signed by the Monarch or isn't passed as law. Obviously none have been signed. How many of you have been falsely summonsed to court, fined, paid taxes they aren't authorised to demand (they jail even very old people for non-payment! Not only morally reprehensible but now we know they are criminals for doing so). I was ok to pay a reasonable amount of justified council and any other tax to a genuinely publicly owned authority, but absolutely not to criminal mobsters. I stopped paying when I discovered some of the above, and emailed the council to tell them why - that their executive, etc are guilty of treason etc. They applied a no longer existant grant to give a nil balance on their invoice in 2021. They automatically did the same in 2022, rather than try to deny what there are official documents and records to prove.
All executives of once supposedly public authorities know all this, their secretaries, legal departments, Judges, Magistrates, JP's, Peers in the House of Lords, senior clergy, NHS bosses etc etc.
Centuries of ongoing and multiple treason, frauds, malfeasance and more for centuries and it seems more so than ever since 2005.
Clearly, as all is stolen from us in fraudulent dealings, those who claim ownership apart from the British Public are not the owners at all.
We must demand the return of our Government to be owned by us not overpaid for by us, all departments and buildings. People who are not too old, ill and who have the nous, determination and staying power must handle this whilst ensuring that they are not infiltrated.
The second alternative is for enough of the employees and public to refuse to acknowledge their authority and to set up a new public sovereign government for the UK, and for each country in the UK, followed by doing the same with local authorities.
Chiefly, also taking over the central and other banks or setting up new ones to take business from them is vital. Iceland did something like it in 2008 but didn't go far enough, and being left standing alone against them Iceland fell back into their clutches after a very few years. Ever heard of "do a job properly or not at all"?
I am doubtful there are enough people who can and will do it. Too many think that bloody revolution is the only way, but all through history such revolutions are also controlled by the so called 'elite' and results in the same or worse rulership. All wars ARE bankers wars. Demanding the return of what is lawfully and rightfully ours, or writing it off and creating anew are the only other alternatives.
There is much other information on the website I mentioned near the top of this.
I am no longer on fraud book etc so if you are then please pass it on.
