@@lybo1581 You’re welcome 😁.
@@glyderglyder Glad I can help!
Clothes need to fit properly even if you need to have them tailored - true but, you need to pay for quality clothes and then also a tailor. $$$$
I love old money style I’m building my wardrobe to achieve this timeless style. I would also add to your list the equestrian boots.
Definitely.
But only if you ride horses in them.
llbean duck boots as well and the leather tori burch sandals / jack Rogers and sperries as well as espadrille wedges
Someone mentioned adding equestrian boots. Yes, and I would add a classic trench and camel coat also. Then, you can discuss pearls, gold and diamond jewelry as well as gloves and belts. Thank you. Well done.
I totally agree with your suggestions
One caveat, Gatsby was New Money, that's the whole point of the novel. He was new money and Daisy was old money, and he died trying to achieve the American dream of wealth and acceptance.
...on the other hand, he basically was TRYING to look like old money, so he would probably be watching this video.
I simply call this a classic, timeless, & elegant style. Not sure what’s with this new trend of calling it “old money” or trying to “look rich”. I have worn this style for years because it suits me and I feel most comfortable in it. Also, buy the quality you can afford. Designer labels are overrated and nowadays much of it is sadly China produced anyways.
Your pants seem too small for you..isnt suppose to wrinkle in the inner starting point of the legs...you can also see the zipper zone is stretched.
I've met plenty of "old money" people who wear denim jeans
That’s exactly what I like to wear as my uniform, but I definitely don’t come from old money. I just grew up wearing preppy clothing in the 90s, so having a timeless wardrobe in natural materials is my base. I tend to buy second hand and vintage bc I can get good quality at reasonable prices.
Since COVID, I’ve incorporated a lot more linen for a more casual, relaxed feel. It’s comfortable and less structured for day to day life.
My mother came from a relatively well off family and to me the “old money aesthetic” is all about inconspicuous consumption. From what I observed it’s all about quality, functionality and pieces that you are comfortable in.
"inconspicuous consumption" indeed!
I’m redoing my entire closet to have only up to 100 items including accessories because I’m tired of having a closet full of things that I don’t think are very versatile and timeless. I’m taking some inspiration from OldMoney but ultimately I want timeless elegance as the entire theme of my closet.
Well done dear, proud of you 👏
Yes. Real "Old Money" style is things that are not new, but borrowed stuff from their parents, older siblings...and its always supposed to be understated. Its not like dark academia.
OLD MONEY ITS NOT ONLY HOW YOU DRESS BUT HOW YOU LIVE! YOUR EYE FOR ELEGANCE IS EXPRESS IN YOUR HOME DECOR AND DESIGN STYLE AS WELL.✨. LOOKING AT THE BACKGROUND OF YOUR HOME ...HMMM🤔🤔🤔
YOU CAN PROBABLY GIVE YOUR PLACE AND OLD MONE TOUCH BY JUST FLUFFING THE PILLOWS, HAVING ONLY A COUPLE INCHES OF SPACE BETWEEN THE ART WORK AND MAYBE ADD SOME GREENERY OR A VASE WITH FRESH FLOWERS 🌺 JUST A THOUGHT 💭 IT WILL HELP YOUR CHANEL
GOOD LUCK 👍🏼🍀
I think so too
Rule #1: not too tight clothing. Love the outfits but a size or two up would look better on you.
Agree completely, tight is not classy.
So very true...
true, although skinny jeans can look good if they fit properly
I always go by Halston's golden rule: elegant yet comfortable. A loose fit is best.
@@kimberlyperrotis8962 I would have to disagree. Loose fitting clothes do not look good on shapely women. To each their own though.
This is interesting. I would say you are describing an Anglo-Saxon version of old money. Every culture has its own version.
Your right! But in this case it’s Old Money no matter what the heritage is!
This "Old Money" aesthetic that seems to be going around, seems to be prep/collegiate, rebranded
Not exactly. It's preppy, yes, because true preppies are the old money set. As for collegiate, maybe you're thinking of the academia aesthetic, which tends to be 1930s-1950s, when few young people but the children of the rich could afford to go to college at all, much less the Ivy League schools. The old money aesthetic is more grown up.
I wouldn’t call it “old style” as you do, I call it classic style.
I have all of this. It is my signature style. Please keep the videos coming 🙂
Not Old, Classic. Big difference!
I love old money style and elegant fashion ! Great video!
A quick tip - no visible logos on shirts.
Hi Angie. You did a great job with this video, especially since you included more understated brands like Lacoste. I love your Lacoste polo and how you styled it with white jeans and your Hermes Kelly belt. Besides the actual garments, I believe that the quality of the items also attributes to the “old money” aesthetic. Do you agree and if so, would you consider upgrading your Zara blazer and trousers for higher quality items made of natural fibers like silk and wool?
Great list of capsule items for classic style! Would love to see a video on your approach/thoughts on classic/old money jewelry. Heirloom pieces are a great way to polish a classic capsule, but I have very few (coming from a very large family) and know that many do not have such luxuries in life. I've found estate sales and high-end consignment can result in wonderful pieces at a fraction of buying something new. Thoughts?
I have always love old money style it's stylish and not over done. Good quality clothing that ladt a life time
Apparently old money families only exist in cold climates lol.
I'm very curious to see what old money wears in Australia.
Linen dresses.. shirts and shorts… same rules apply
@@neffy2398 so 3 items? Don't think so.
Most of these videos are done by ppl in the US and England where it gets cold. If the same rules apply in North Queensland where clothes mould on the line within 24 hours kts so humid, I'd be very surprised.
Old money is mainly in Sydney and Melbourne I think you’ll find, however those I know who live up the nth of QLD wear linen and cotton fabrics….dresses, shorts, lightweight pants, shirts etc. The south of the US is also very hot and humid and some very wealthy old money families there too.
@@PatsyStone73 so just limited in the fabric choices. Im in QLD and the most popular suggestions are cashmere, wool, Tweed etc. Who's doing that here in summer? Lol.
aussiejubes Also no need for tweed and cashmere in QLD’s winters either lol.
Your outfit with that blue sweater looked amazing
Your pants are way too tight, got some CT action. Those horizontal creases mean you have to size up, it will make you look thinner, too, not being squeezed in like that. Why not iron your items before showing them on a video? That shirt still has the packing creases, as well as from when you wore it. Old money irons their clothes, or, more likely, pays someone to do it.
She apologized for the creases in the shirt.
Looking forward to your video about old money brands! This was a good capsule
One of your points was that old money buys clothes that fits: yours are too tight to give this vibe.
True her current outfit is giving golf caddy/ country club worker vibes
Tough crowd!
Actually I just learned recently that my style and my family's is called old money. Well it is true. My family owns houses, vineyards and other businesses for quite some generations.
But there's a lot of things missing: actually we do wear jeans, but not any type of jeans. Good quality jeans, not that tight, high waist and usually with some space between the feet and the jeans. You can fold it or just buy some jeans like that.
The boots equestrian style are a must!
A good pair of belts. Very important!
Jewelry for women: fine, dainty gold/silver pieces.
Other thing, I don't know what's called but the Ralph Lauren/ Sacoor winter simple jackets, like bomber style. Gosh everyone I know has that type jacket.
Thank you Angie for your helpful tips would love to add the polo shirt to my closet ,I already have white jeans and the navy blazer 💕
Melhor vídeo que assisti deste assunto. Você está de parabéns 👏👏👏👏
Great video. I’m planning to buy Gucci loafers.
You should do a men's old money aesthetic video, would love to hear your viewpoint, great video 👍
Great video, I love your take on preppy style
We wear blue jeans too..
I already wear clothes like this. I'm apparantly a cross between old money and costal grandma :)
As she wears a huge Lacoste logo on her polo
Woooow! Plsssss do moreee
navy blue and grey are also great if ur younger trying to look preppy
I've been struggling so much to find the perfect white denim jeans and trousers! I'm tall and the majority fit me short. And shorts do as well 😥. Any suggestions?
Made in Heaven slim kick Marrakech
True German, Dutch or Scandinavian designers. I am 5'10" and they usually fit me well.
Asos has a _Tall_ section
You look sooo classy here and sophisticated
I have been extremely interested in where they shop. Thank you.
Good tips and basics but I think logos are overkill
This was a nice video. I enjoyed the content alot. Very informative also. 👍
But white jeans show dirt, navy loose jeans, or tailored pants work for old money sometimes.
There are no links. Can you please tell me what slacks these are from Zara. Also I can’t find the cashmere sweater. Is it because I’m in the United States? Thank you
Can u make a video on elegant athletic wear?
Fiz uma limpa na Renner com este tipo de roupa e nem sabia. Cheguei lá e pensei: quanta roupa no meu estilo nesta coleção.... Kkkkk
Where do you recommend buying silk scarves?
Nothing on the Vivaia site except shoes... must have been a slip of tongue to mention that the cashmere would be available there
Thankyou for this vlog, does the old money wear pink too?
thank you
Where is the belt that you are wearing from ?
I can''t find the old money favorate brands
So great
good tips but honestly these Zara pants look so cheap all the work girls wear them
I would have them copied in a nice material at your personal tailor - that would be an old money style
What about dresses and skirts?
That needs a separate video i will work on it ❤️
Can't watch your video because of the Val Demings ad. Won't support her or anyone who supports her.
So wrong about no jeans! Here in New England, the old moneyed wear old jeans all the time. No Gucci!!!!! Ab not!
Who pronounces Levi’s like that?!!!!??!!
Wanted make up vedio
Omg….
First of all the rule is typically no white after Labor Day.
Second of all, I know kids of multi million dollar ceos who wore jeans on the regular.
All the old money wear jeans.
What a ridiculous video. Old money has money because they buy quality "one" time Old money is cheap. This look also doesn't look good on everyone. It can look prissy sometime. Every woman should be herself. I think it is important to look polished, clean, and put together in a casual way. Not too contrived is the answer and so iron all clothes and if possible have them fitted to your body.
I don't think I can wear beige or neutral colours all the time..I feel like old money look is too monochrome and dullish for me..I'm tan I need bright colours for my skin complexion or it washes me out ..old money seems to be for a particular fit..skinny tall Caucasian women..I'm not in that category
Very good post, Carol. I think I look too “mumsy” in the old money look.
.
She always looked impeccable.
White jeans make me look fat.
Ha ha
The blazer has too many buns and double breasted I don't know
Your clothes are too tight for old money.
Боже мой, лицо колхозницы! Какое олд мэни?
