To be honest I never looked at the idea of them romantically. I always loved their friendship but thought that was the extent of it. But then I saw the last few episodes of season 3 and was like oh crap. They would actually make a great couple and they sorta complete each other.

They both remind me of my best friend and I. So, I honestly don't ship 'em that much. Unpopular opinion, I guess: I like the idea of them together, but I prefer them as good friends. For me, personally, the way Schneider treats and cares for Penelope doesn't feel like it deserves to be cannon. I like them the way they are.
