Gotta say, this is extremly impressive performance for a quad core that costs so little. However, its price/performance hinges highly on motherboard costs of b660 and intel likes to increase board prices every generation so that might be a deal killer. But at least this year shapes up to be very interesting in CPU department.
I mean, i was about to build a budget gaming rig soon, and was thinking b450/R3 2200G and then get an rx570 or better, then swap out the 2200g for a 5600 and eventually R9 + RTX3000 series. But looking at this, starting with 12100F and jump straight to RX560 or even RX550 with a Z690 to make 12900k relevant later is probably better, even tho its "only" capped at 12900k. But if AMDs AM5 can support multiple gen like AM4 did, i would need to reconsider my choice.

Well they won't run your future 12900K at full potential anyways (see Hardware Unboxed). You'll need to upgrade your cooling, power supply... By the time you can afford a 12900K it won't be worth it. Would you for example buy a used 9900K today for $300 (that can pull 145 Watts if you still had a Z390 board, when the 12100F beats it? Are you going with a DDR5 board to be future proof? DDR5 is very expensive now... What's your budget and what do you want to play now?
@@everope i mean where i live, most of the used PC parts can still sell for atleast 50% its new price, since theres such a big market for a cheap parts (mind you most of them still buys 7700k or even 6th gen for their budget build, idk if theyre dumb, or idiots). So for cooling, PSU, and CPU i can get rid of them and get some financial help from them and upgrade them. About budget, im not sure, its quite complicated and i dont think i can afford to churn out like $500 in a single month, thats why i was thinking about the first team red route. Since beggars can't be choosers, ill just play whatever my pc can handle. 2200g is surprisingly good tbh, and it is dirt cheap. I got a Ryzen 5 1600 + RX570 4GB and they both served me well. I sold that PC and got a Ryzen 5 5600G with Vega 7 iGPU. Sure, the GPU doesn't suffice, but I'm planning on getting a second hand 1060 or 1660ti. Then I see this i3 for 120$ here. Damn, what value. I'm gonna get that one. Tho not many boards here, only 95$ and up for the ugliest boards looking like 40$. The socket is too new
Dont listen to Tech Deals or anybody who says 4 cores are dead, and 6 cores are stupid and you need 8 cores for the future. Its bullshit and all about IPC and cache. Very very very few games need more than 4c 8t to run smoothly. Just till now a lot of 4 core chips were kinda slow or only as fast as the 7700K

Yes, I had a i3 10105f and even that was pretty impressive for the cost , this new i3 looks even better and at the moment the only cheap ryzen cpu is the 5600g in my country and is more than double the price....

@@GXSergio that must be due to disimilar game settings which I don't remember for that video exactly. As it's not possible for i3 to be faster than i5.
What you do is, break off all those extra bits of wire AMD leaves sticking out of the bottom of the CPU so that you have a nice flat mating surface. Then you just install your CPU like normal 🤣
The i3 has 4 cores 8 threads, while the ryzen 3600 has 6 cores and 12 threads, so for example if a game fully utilizes the i3, the 3600 would not be at 100%
Intel wasn't lying when they said 4 cores is enough for gaming. It's just that the 7700K aged after 5 years. One big IPC jump though and 4c/8t is doing 144hz gaming again EZ.

Yes, In CSGO it's maybe due to MSAA option was enabled for that benchmark at 8x. that's why it's getting less fps.
