I don't think any other indie band these days does better at displaying pure, unguarded emotion than this band do. Andy's lyrics are unmatched, thoughtful, deep, profoundly emotional and never over the top.
Change my mind: Manchester Orchestra is by far the most touching, the finest band in the current space of popular music. Everything about their songs is perfect, simply perfect.
I try to pick my favorite song on the album but every time the song changes I'm like "no, THIS is my favorite one!" I'm stuck between a pillow and a soft place!
Every time I hear this song, it makes me think of my difficult relationship with my mother and my journey towards healing. The emotion is palpable. This might be my favorite song on the entire album.
I thought this time I might just walk away from you You were a thief, yeah and I was the proof But you don't ever cry, so no telling the truth The first time that I tried to run away from you You gave me a list, said now baby you choose But it wasn't engraved, it felt more like a bruise Oh I wasn't ashamed then, of my degree The fear that I once paid for now was free But I wasn't afraid then, of who I'd become In a desperate vain attempt to talk to God I saw, I saw Now I'm the same, lost my decree, and it paid for you I was a liar, I was stuck in the fog Yeah and you were turned around, I was pretty much lost I'm first of four that tried to cast away from you Into the dark, you were a spear I was holding your head, you were watching me kneel I was barely born then, I was hardly evolved I was pacing back and forth to calm the squall So I ran out of reasons, of places to fall Would you take my heart and nail it to your wall? I saw, I saw Once you reach the top it takes your air Are you hollow? Are you hollow? Lower than you think you've ever been Are you hollow? Are you hollow? I don't want to believe it Stuck in my thought I've been trying to replicate the mask of God Now I'm starting to feel it Now the guilt's falling off When I turned my eyes around, I learned to talk I saw, I saw
@@andreasiacovou7053 okay so this song seems like they were in an abusive/manipulated relationship and so in the last verse, its saying that feeling free by finally not letting the other person control them and so the guilt they had for wanting to leave them is gone because they realized thats not true. And when he says that they turned their eyes around and learned to talk, basically meaning now that they are not looking at them with desperate eyes in trying to please them and keeping silent for the abuser, they are now able to say what they want because they dont need the approving eyes of the abuser for what they want to say
@@RedZ07 the question is who is the other entity he’s talking about? Like in most of these songs there’s reference to his mother but I get the vibe these are more existential ideas about self, God, and rebirth. Not saying you’re wrong. Just taking it farther. Is he talking to god, his family, a woman.... or is he talking to himself?
@@fairweatherfriends. i think this would be more with ones self and talking about the suffering and the struggles. At the beginning I would say its a talk to the abuser and then slowly it becomes more inward towards oneself. And trying to find escape and yeah it has reference with trying to use a higher up and escape the struggles they are dealing but ultimately it comes down to themselves at the end
@@RedZ07 Yes I agree. Self. This album seems to be an acceptance of many things. Accepting things that are true even if you hate it that it is so, accepting you know almost nothing, accepting that he has been preaching opinion as gospel, accepting he has cried wolf when the only wolf was himself. The album seems to be about accepting that the only person to blame isn't God or parents but... self. Its the back end of an existential crisis.
Why cant i shake this feeling of like alternate universe death cab, not that thry sound alike but just similar feelings and unique sounds and melodys and so much depth in the melodys like ylu have to listen to one song a few times and glu can hear a different instrument and the rhythm of it and just the whole songs are this big journey. Im so happy i found them
Thought this time I might just walk away from you, you thief of my heart . But I miss you ❤ 😢 you were watching me kneel 😢but you take my heart and nail it to your wall😢 Dang ❤

Omit the word indie and this comment remains accurate
"Fear that I once paid for, Now is Free!" 👌

Bold statement…but after discovering them a few weeks ago I can’t disagree.
At number one favorite band with Lord Huron.

wonderful song, wonderful voice and music and melodies with rhythms and counter rhythms very good group👍👍🙏
Album has been on repeat since yesterday, this might as well be my favorite song ! Excellent .
Mine too. I love the cadence of the singing. Wish it had a bit more of a classic MO pinnacle, but it gets damn close, so I'm not complaining.
This is music. Best song I've heard in years

This song is about his relationship with God. Its phenomenally deep
This has to be one of my favorites on the album. So good!

Absolutely AMAZING music 🎉❤
Woke up with this release, how perfect is that to start the day?
I mean this in the very best way, Andy has written a fantastic Thrice track here! Could fit right in on Major/Minor!
