  • This video will describe how the garage door IR beam trip sensors work. A simple interface board using a monostable circuit can be used to build your own stand alone system.

I really like that your videos pull me back to the hardware. I am such a microcontroller guy now that I would probably set up a timer to overflow at 8 milliseconds. The timer resets when the pin goes low and not overflow. If an overflow occurs I know the detector isn't seeing the transmitter.

I have a non-functioning system and this will provide the information I needed to troubleshoot it. Thanks.

Those look like fun components to build interesting projects with.

Very good information and explained well. Thank you. Do you know if the Genie sensors work in the same way? 6.5 ms pulses. I don't have a scope so can't check it.

Never owned a Genie door opener but the sensors also have two wires for hook up, so so they probably operate the same way.

Can I request a circuit, please? I have a device that runs automatically intermittently in the basement. I need a wireless transmitter and receiver to see when it's in operation, from, like, 10 meters away.
When the device runs it lights a green LED. I can tap to the LED's power or its light, but nothing else.
Any ideas for a simple design, please? Perhaps a simple AM or FM signal circuit?

I wanna use these as a parking sensor in the garage
I thought about moving mine but that wouldn't be safe for small animals.
