Changelings are so much fun. I’m in a new campaign with my Changeling Rogue/Bard subclassed into Eloquence and Mastermind. He’s working on overthrowing the current monarchies of the world with Changelings so they can finally have a united government with him at its center. My whole party is OP and evil, but really dumb, so I’m pretty much using them to spread my influence and topple societies as we go along.

I love hearing other changelings are out there bending the world to their will!

I had a changeling in a previous campaign who didn't know they were a changeling. It was such a fun character to roll play. Before that I had a changeling who I worked with the DM to keep the fact that they were a changeling a secret. The Party didn't find out until the final battle with the BBG. My current character, though not a changeling, is living a secret life pretending to be someone she isn't while collecting information about the party.

I'm currently playing a changeling rogue (mastermind) 6/Bard (Eloquence) 3 who is like the Arsene Lupin of the group. Getting through persuasion and deception in order to get the treasures from greedy nobles. In my downtime I work on building my criminal empire. I am so having fun in this campaign.
Also, I would like to RP with Fibonacci.

I’m playing a mastermind rouge rn. I love her so much!! Her name is candy(real name Alina Duvess) and she’s an absolute menace!! She (thanks to DM coolness) got to take the eldritch adept feat and mask of many faces! Worked so well with the whole voice copy thing. We even changes that level 9 feature.
    Insightful manipulator
The DM tells you if the creature is your equal, superior, or inferior in regard to two of the following characteristics of your choice:
    Intelligence score
    Wisdom score
    Charisma score
    Class levels (if any)
At the DM's option, you might also realize you know a piece of the creature's history or one of its personality traits, if it has any.
⬆️⬆️⬆️⬆️ that last part was something we reworked and we decided we that Loki(her semi warlock patron cause mask of many faces.) automatically tells her things about people she sees. We made a 1d6 chart of facts about the person he tells her.
    1.) likes/ dislikes
    2.) skeletons in the closet.
    3.) social connection
    4.) goals and desires
    5.) Beliefs/ alignment/ Ideology
    6.) miscellaneous
We have so much fun. She’s truly chaotic evil and would be dead if she wasn’t so smart. She’s a 17 yo school girl who’s committed crimes like basically 911, methed up a preschool, uncovered 2 plots to overthrow governments and killed them all. Tricked a noble into selling himself into her slavery and is now queen of a country. And All in like 3 months in universe. She makes lollipops she poisoned and hands them out to anyone who will take it. He goal now is to break into the fey wild and become the queen of hags(that’s not a real thing she’s just crazy.) 🍭🍭

Thank you for posting this! At the DM’s request, I began playing a mastermind in my main campaign and have been struggling with it. I learned & was inspired by more in your video than in 2 years of playing! Thank you!!

If I were to play a character like this, my minmaxer brain will require me to make them multiclass one level into Hexblade Warlock, mainly for the charisma-based attacks, but also for all of the other neat things Hexblades get at level 1. Cantrips, Hexblade's Curse, spells, proficiency in medium armor, shields, and martial weapons... all that good stuff.
I also kind of like the flavor of this master spy having a cursed sword. Speaking of which, make sure your hexblade weapon has the finesse property because Sneak Attack requires it to be finesse or ranged. So probably make it a rapier.

MM loves a dip in Rune Knight. Fire Rune gives expertise in all those tool skills and the Cloud Rune gives advantage on Deception and Sleight of Hand. It also provides the rogue with sheilds and more weapon options.

Just found this video, I made a secondary character that's a changeling mastermind too but mine is an investigator background. More of an outward Sherlock Holmes with an inner Dick Turpin.

I'm currently playing a Changeling Warlock1/BardX in a westmarsh style Eberron game. My pact is with the Daughters of Sora Kell and my character has been made a Droaam chib (warlord) in charge of a Changeling City-state in South-East Droaam. In my downtime, I'm building the Cabinet of Faces (a faction full of changeling spies, in this campaign it doesn't exist and it's my character's goal to build it). This game is awesome, love the roleplay opportunités this creates

I came looking for a video because I was seeing if anyone else had thought about this no one really talks about this but if you ever reached level 20 three levels in eloquence bard and the rest in Mastermind Rogue as well as a changeling you basically becalmed the most powerful impressionist no one will be able to tell when you're lying and you get access to The Bard spell getting disguise self so you don't even need to change clothes or take anything off it also helps balance out your combat with cantrips

I would have thoroughly cleaned the key of any evidence, and dropped it in some random ally way, or reverse pickpocketed it onto another NPC.

Master of Intrigue allows you to pass yourself off as a NATIVE SPEAKER, not a specific person. For example, you walk into a bar and listen to a local talk, you can mimic the dialect to not get called out as a foreigner. Will it help for a person? Sure, but is not an unchecked ability.

I love second identity characters. But I find it difficult to live this second life, like meeting secret people, or working in a secret buisness of which the party doesn't know, without taking up too much time because the DM only talks to me. And without the players being able to metagame. Are there some tipps for playstyles like this?

Best tip I have is if you're having trouble doing it during the session, you can try to do it out of session (like texting your DM to roleplay the interaction you are wanting). This does put more on the DM though, so you've gotta be careful to make sure you're both on the same page

awesome build, I have something similar going on and what Im trying to figure out is how do you get your character to do things when the partry isnt around. It's only my second campaign and its also my first rogue. Do you just Talk to the DM and negotiate that?

i just saw this vid, recently i did a build focusin on the similar scheme but making it actually playable. Ofc it takes adv of Hexbaldes existance. lvl 1 rogue for skills then 3 levels into hexblade and then go back rogue mastermind to the max. The race i picked is Hobgoblin making my BA Help action absolutely batshit insane and since the campain started lvl 3 i already had Warlock Invocations meaning i started with Mask of Many Faces. Nobody knew this was a hobgoblin, they had a persona of a wood-elf which tied to the backstory and could essenstially without the party knowing do the same stuff your project was doing but better with 20 charisma giving you absolutely insane face skils AND Light Crossbow attacks with Improved Pact Weapon to proc Sneak Attack in Combat. With 14 Dex they could still sneak around but with 18 AC. So this was basically the same character idea but actually optimised.

    So.. that bit about "Min-Maxers".
Yeah this is a min-maxed build. It just isn't min-maxed for combat. 😂😂😂
And I've built similar support builds that were garbage in combat... but allowed us to avoid unneccessary combat situations 80% of the time.. sooo
