I love the crackling of a fire. I heat my house with an old fisher stove. When it cools off outside I can't wait to build a fire in it but after 4 months I can't wait to not build a fire anymore lol
You forgot to show the part were the spring flys out and bounces off your chest and you spend more time looking for it than the whole carburetor rebuild .thanks Tinman you made it look so easy .
Everyone always made me think putting in a carb kit was like a voodoo that only small fingered elves with years of experience could do. Which is why they always went to the shop to get done. This content is unbelievable. After watching your explanation, I feel even a vanilla gorilla like myself can give er a shot! Thanks!
Awesome video man, thanks for sharing. My ported 254xp was flooding bad when I got it back. The porter walked me through adjusting that lever (was too high) and it has run perfect since. I believe mine does not have the nub that hooks in, it just rests on the lever. Need to check and see which carb it has. Also, the fire was beautiful. Almost time for our first fire of the year. We heat 100% with a free standing old HearthStone stove. Love it!
Thanks for the new information on the carburetor, I love your work and information brother, keep up what you do, I can't wait to see this saw run now...looking forward to it...love the port work on this one. Thanks again, be safe and have a great.
Awesome video tinman. So happy see u doing carb rebuild. Very helpful. Just in case i have a wee go deffo have some saws that need that very job .Peace from Scotland
Just rebuilt the tillotson HS in my 385xp a couple months ago. That was my first tillotson, always had walbro carbs in my other saws so this video would’ve been a lifesaver 😂 the finish line is so close I can taste it. Can’t wait to see the chips fly
I would like to get my 61 running great. Thanks for sharing. I will try to rebuild my carb soon. It floods out pretty much is doing what you explained.
Good stuff again, like the detailed explanation about the diaphragm on the pump side. I also don't lean on my saws. If you sharpen you chain properly it will pull itself through. If you are leaning on it, it is a good indicator that you have waited to long to touch it up. If your out cutting (falling and bucking) a cord or two it makes for a long day if your saws not sharp and a tired back if your leaning on it all day. Cutting 20 to 40 cords a year, year after year it will wear you out. The anticipation of seeing this saw in the wood is killing me but loving the step by step build. Mahalo Tinman....🤙
Great, detailed explanation👍 over the years I've rebuilt many, many carburetors. And of the handheld 2 cycle variety, I've see few enough Tillotson's I can count them on one hand. Here in se New Mexico USA I'd say 95+% are walbro or zama with a few Chinese clones. Loving this channel! Can hardly wait for the next video!
hey tinman im about to port my first saw a husqvarna 61 tho yet i'm sick so i watched your series at first thought timing wheel unnecassery but as i kept going i more and more understood why thank you so much keep it going you make really good videos to learn greetings from austria
Thats awesome super stoked at this info, love the vid cheers man That fly was so annoying i think if it happens again when filming pull the back of your jeans down and that will keep it out of shot, just tryin to give back on the advice
I agree with you at keeping it cheaper an making it a fun hobby. If your a business you can go oem and claim it back as a business expense at tax time. Keep up the cool vids Tinman love your knowledge an sharing. Mark.
I have a w an z carb tool there handy to have I tend to build my saws with low roof 102 to 105 with lots of blow down an large lowers an I try for extra compression when I can I shoot for tq that's what's I like to use for my fire wood a high zipper is fun too tho eather way there fun to run
I was expecting the carb on my jonsered 630 to have the hook in nub but it didn’t. I try to make sure to watch for that after hearing you talk about it in another video
What do you guys do when it’s time to store saws? I wanna ensure my saws last and I want to make sure to store them properly for when I don’t use them. Love your content 👍
Hey Tinman ... at the 22 minute mark what is the beige coloured piece that you didn’t use? And why?? Just doing a kit in my old Husqvarna 66 and see there is one the same in the kit. Same profile as the pump-side diaphragm. Thanks!!
Just a little tidbit they still produce the husky 61 and 272…….for South Africa lol Do they make replacement oem cylinder kits for North America, to be determined I guess, I’ve never really looked into it Anyways have a great day Tinman
So they provide you with a pump diaphragm specifically for ethanol blended fuel and you use mostly ethanol blended fuel but you purposely choose not to use the diaphragm made for use with ethanol blended fuel. Huh? You say you've never had a problem but that doesn't explain why you wouldn't use the part made for your situation.

In my opinion a carburetor has to be OEM that’s about the only thing the aftermarket manufacturers can’t get right. Love me some Tinman! 👍🤙
Yep. Unless MAJOR corrosion is a problem, it's almost always better to rebuild OEM than replace with aftermarket carbs.
In my experience the cheap aftermarket carbs I have purchased about 1 out of 4 are any good
I 100% agree. Nothing but trouble with aftermarket on my end
I’ve actually bought about 15 after market carbs, all worked fine, guess I’ve been really lucky!
@@TierMasterx you sure have
You forgot to show the part were the spring flys out and bounces off your chest and you spend more time looking for it than the whole carburetor rebuild .thanks Tinman you made it look so easy .
I only do that with circlips

That's killer you were able to keep the stove in the family.
Excited for the build out video!

Thank you for the ahh ha moment . I need to check and see if I got the diaphragm installed right .
I was expecting the carb on my jonsered 630 to have the hook in nub but it didn’t. I try to make sure to watch for that after hearing you talk about it in another video
Some Hs carbs have the hook and some dont. Not sure why
This is timely! I'm trying to wangle a Jonsered 49sp from a friend. Should be a Tillotson hs carb 👍
Ultrasonic cleaner is good for newer epa carbs but those old carbs we just clean holes out and they work eh bud
How do we get entered for this saw?!? So cool!
Just a a suggestion, could you use petrolem jelly to temporarily hold the gasket in place, and wouldn't interfere with the running carburator?
Carb/ brake clean hands!
The tilly carbs rock
What do you guys do when it’s time to store saws? I wanna ensure my saws last and I want to make sure to store them properly for when I don’t use them. Love your content 👍
good vid well done
another gem ! from professor Tin Man
How can we be apart of the giveaway ? Or are you going to say later would love to try to win it Lol
Parts tree online sells oem for 268 and 272. They are around 270 if I remember correctly
Hey Tinman ... at the 22 minute mark what is the beige coloured piece that you didn’t use? And why?? Just doing a kit in my old Husqvarna 66 and see there is one the same in the kit. Same profile as the pump-side diaphragm. Thanks!!
I just picked up one of the China man 660's just for the fun of it, we shall see how it goes lol
Thank you!!
Thanks for the vid! Maybe I'll get lucky with the giveaway, whoever gets it will be a lucky one!
The HS 222 and the 13 A/B/C carbs don't have the nub on the diaphragm
Just a little tidbit they still produce the husky 61 and 272…….for South Africa lol
Do they make replacement oem cylinder kits for North America, to be determined I guess, I’ve never really looked into it
Anyways have a great day Tinman
Hear from Harvey lately? Starting to get worried about him.
I’m building a262xp and have to rebuild the carburetor so is it basically the same way with a Walbro HDA144 or is it a little more difficult?
Complete top ends and all parts
Hello tinman this saw is gonna be 🙂
Geniooooooo
