    in Kannada vlog ಕನ್ನಡದಲ್ಲಿ
Vipakshapura or Virupakshi, 5 Kilometers from Mulabagilu, is popular for the Virupakshi temple built by Lakkana Dandesha ( Lakshmanadandesha), the governor of Mulavai province during the reign of Devaraya II (1419-1444) of Vijayanagara. The Dravidan-style Virupakshi temple has spacious outer and inner courtyards and three entrances. The Rayagopuram (Raja Gopuram) which stands above the elevated entrance in front, is now crumbling.

Karnataka has more than 1000 temples built in 15th century by small chieftains of Nayak dynasty(descendants of Krishna devaraya King) and also Chola dynasty small chieftains who have married into each other family. These chieftains have not only saved the existing old temples of Jain and hinduism in entire south india but also built many new temples besides supporting Sharada Mutt Shankaracharya, Madhva Mutt Udupi, Kanchi Mutt Tamilnadu and also Arya gowda mutt etc etc. Without these small chieftains we cannot see any temples that came under severe attack and loot by Bahamani sultans and Rajackers and also 250 years of British loot. Humpi temple got precious stones valued more than famous Kohinoor and all looted and relooted for decades by Bahamani sultans. Sad that we are born into a banana religion called hinduism and educated to be fools for ever and voting for freebies etc.
