interesting you say that, she mentioned it as one of her ambitions in her poem; who knows? She has a lovely commanding presence, I agree! I think you need to be 35 to run for president, so maybe in 2034? Cuz she's only 22 now; Her poem was so beautiful, and so well crafted, an inspired vision given straight from her soul, I think we would be lucky to have her as President!

I have to be honest, when a "youth poet" was announced, I was expecting a timid and nervous delivery (understandably so, too. I mean that's a LOT of pressure to be under) but she completely nailed it.

@Chalmel Carrington i interpreted it as that we can't hope that there will be light in darkness without doing anything ourselves. justice, love and change won't appear magically. we have to step forwards, be brave, and be the guiding light the country needs.

We’ve learned that quiet isn’t always peace. In the norms and notions of what just is isn’t always justice. And yet, the dawn is ours before we knew it. Somehow we do it. Somehow we’ve weathered and witnessed a nation that isn’t broken, but simply unfinished. We, the successors of a country and a time where a skinny black girl descended from slaves and raised by a single mother can dream of becoming president only to find herself reciting for one.
Hope 2021 will be better ❤️❤️❤️. Truly inspiring lines❤️

I've taken the time to go back and actually read the poem. So powerful, both as she spoke it and in the words she wrote, how they convey the darkness of the prior administration and the hope for the future, and how it's what we do now that history will look back on.

Brown she is so beautiful, though she seems to be ignored. But, she’s the most captivating color of all the extraordinary chroma, that identifies Gods creations. Brown has been chosen to be the breath and bark of a tree. She gives a voice to sensitivity, her words are as warm as a sheltered heart. She’s the beginning to life, brown has nurtured nature to grow and build nature’s extravagant scenery, and written song to the cosmos. Her euphoria is like no other, brown is truly her strength, it’s her motivation, it’s her destiny. Brown is simply The Earth.
