My 1st-ever concert was The Edgar Winter Group with Rick Derringer (The James Gang with Tommy Bolin opened) EW played the 25lb monster pretty much the whole night.
Wow...don't recall this one. Seen the video of this tune with Ronnie Montrose. This is Jerry Weems on guitar. IIRC, he was subbing until Rick Derringer became available. There's YT vids of The Edgar Winter Group with both Derringer & Weems. Cool ass band...as was The White Trash.
One of the things I like about Edgar Winter is the story of them growing up in Houston as albinos. And saying that was why they stayed in basements all the time learning music. They probably hit their 10,000 hours of playing when they were 14.
They were in the back room. There are no basements in Houston... or almost any part of Texas. The water table is too high, and the soils are not stable.
The story about his brother John in NY is true. Johnny Winter was in NY gigging and making money while Edger was struggling. He spoke to him and Johnny said, Come to NY and play blues. They love it and it's easy. So he did, and the rest as they say is history.
I've forgotten the guitarist's name but I do know he went AWOL from the army and that's why he got short hair. Great player and I think he's gone now also..
No Derringer had left this band for awhile to do his solo record and promote it. This guy replaced him...can't recall his name though. Tommy...? Derringer came back later and you can see videos of EWG with both guitarists in the band...look for RnR Hoochie Koo.
A totally underrated musician that should be in the RNRHOF.
His band was incredible. And this is lacking Rick Derringer. Dan Hartman is also underrated. Gone nearly 30 years somehow
One of my favorite EW songs! This is 50 years old but is still rocking like yesterday! Dan did a great job on bass👍May he R. I. P🙏❤From 🇫🇷
Hellva performance. Watching him sing and play a keyboard that’s hanging around his neck pains me in the day of analog. Thanks for the upload.

RIP Dan Hartman. What a solid rhythm section!
Drummer Chuck Ruff, too. RIP.
Dan Hartman is killing on bass. The whole band looks like they are having a blast playing this song.
I noticed that too!
Yeah...absolutely...🤘🏻🤘🏻🔥🔥
Edgar Winter. A great multi-talented musician and vocalist.
This is how it's done, folks - pure perfection!!
Fantastic!! Great song for a Friday! Keep playing that rock and roll, Midnight Special!🎉💜
Heck Yea!! I LOVE Edgar Winter!! Fabulous vocals 🎙️ keyboards 🎹 and 🎸 (!) 🎉 ❤
Rock n Roll!!🎉
I bet this song is as much fun to play as it is to listen to.
I love this group sooo talented!👏👏👏👏👏
Edgar Winter é um músico espetacular, um gênio. Pude vê-lo em São Paulo, Brasil, em 2011, foi incrível
Excellent, tried Frankenstein a few times but wasn't feeling it but I get it now, what a voice and what a talent ❤

LIVE!! No dubbing, no lip syncing and all talent. Where has the real music gone ?? Thanks never saw this video
I got to see Edgar perform with Ringo Starr last summer. It was an amazing show and he still rocks!
Jerry Weems on guitar AWOL from the military
Explains the "20ish years in the future" hairstyle.

Wouldn't doubt it. Was just a kid then, and I've lost about everyone I've ever known.
Jerry Weems...
@@craigking8252 Ah yea..thanks. Bonaroo
Sadly they are all gone except for Edgar.
@@013bassman😢that’s so sad
Two thumbs up.......
👍👍👍
🔜☮🔚 aumenta que isso aí é rock&roll
so young
Edgar Winter Targaryen
Edgar always gave it his all, whether with the Group, White Trash or with his late great brother Johnny.
A song from his White Trash days. Classic stuff from a show that was "must see TV" for real music fans.
Audio sync is way off but great performance. Is this pre Rick Derringer then?
Yes, I believe this was pre-Derringer. It was about the same time Derringer had released his solo album All American Boy.
No Derringer had left this band for awhile to do his solo record and promote it. This guy replaced him...can't recall his name though. Tommy...?

'70s nostalgia
Did Edgar and Rick Wakemen ever have a Key-tar jam together?
That might've gone supercritical ~just too much
Fuck yeah ❤️ this shit! This has spirit! This that music that knocks the rust off your joints!
