  • This week, I took my knowledge of handwriting analysis to the Harry Potter films see how my skills would hold up ^-^
    In this video we cover some secretiveness, traits of writing in all caps, and a little look at how handwriting can change over a person's life. If you want to send me a handwriting sample to get analyzed in a future video, send a pic of it to handwritingforleah@gmail.com and I will get to work!
    What did you think of my analyses? did you agree or disagree with what I found? I know that for me, after I finished editing this video, I started reading even more about pathological liars and I kind of disagree with my final verdict of Tom Riddle's writing now xD but that's the nature of learning new stuff I suppose, but what are your thoughts?
    On another note, if you're new to the channel, my name is Leah and I make videos on handwriting analysis and graphology :) I’m even looking into getting the certification to be a licensed graphologist so I have something tangible to prove my credibility because DISCLAIMER: I am not a licsenced graphologist- YET. I just am obsessed with learning about graphology. But don't worry, I will become official soon.

    In a version of, "Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them" book, there were annotated notes done by Harry and Ron throughout it, which shows their handwriting.

    To be fair, Harry was IN PHYSICAL PAIN while writing the second sample. It is hardly normal to be emotionally stable etc when you are being abused by a figure of authority and are in literal pain...Most of the characteristics of the writing are consistent with his being basically tortured while writing

    Maybe for the "I am Lord Voldemort" It's almost like a signature? How he wants the world to perceive him

  • @everyones-a-cryptic

    I don't know much about graphology apart from these videos, but my personal Headcannon about Tom Riddle/ Voldemort is that the first sample is the handwriting he taught himself to use, to seem more like the professional and judgemental Slytherins around him when he first went to Hogwarts. It's the neat, kind of fancy quill writing that his essays and schoolwork would be in or his letters to his "friends" (if they could be called that idk). The other handwriting is more close to his unhinged actual self.
    Also, I think you can kind of disregard the all caps thing because "I AM LORD VOLDEMORT" was the rearranged anagram of his name and I think they just did caps so the different sizes of the rearranged letters wouldn't be confusing for the audience to read (also he was using his wand in mid-air rather than a quill on paper). Now that I think about it, does it being his name change the meaning of things? I know you've said before that signatures have some different rules so maybe...

    i think it’s weird/cool that she was saying how similar tom and snapes handwriting samples are and they’re both in the same house meaning according to the sorting hat they have a lot of similar characteristics

    When Tom was writing in the diary, he was performing, so it makes a lot of sense? It seems more like a signature in the significance? I'm not sure

    Harry was in pain while using the blood quill so that might have something to with it. He was also being called a liar too

    Are the O loop traits (outward vs inward) opposite for left-handed people who often make their Os clockwise (or so I'm told)?

    • @LeahEckardt
      @LeahEckardt  3 года назад +66

      I haven't heard of that! Certain graphologists say there's overall really no huge difference between the writing of lefties and righties, I've found that lefties more often write disconnected/printed as opposed to connected, but thats really it? You bring up a good point though, I might want to watch for more weird leftie exceptions :)

    i also think people who write in all caps could have very very bad lower case writing. someone i knew wrote in all caps because their handwriting was basically illegible (theyre a doctor) so i think that might be another reason people use all caps

      My dad does this. He's naturally left-handed, but corporal punishment was used to turn him right-handed. He went to a Catholic boys' school in Ireland about 60 years ago, for context. Now his handwriting is horrific with both hands 😔

    In relation to people who write in all-caps, engineers (but mostly architects) are actually forced to write in all caps for blueprints and drafting (called architectural lettering), and when they are in that profession for a long time, eventually it just becomes the norm for them to write like that :)

    I feel like the writing in Tom Riddles Diary isn't truly his. Remember he uses the diary to groom 11 year old Ginny for months, he's not being himself, he is reflecting in his writing what she wants to see.

  • @ryanjpaintgacha
    @ryanjpaintgacha 3 года назад +16

    8:35 I would say that he's masking it, that sounds like something Tom would do, either subconsciously or intentionally.

  • @XxfearlessStarxX

    Tom being conceived from a love potion made him unable to feel or understand love, perhaps that’s why his upbringing wasn’t very traumatizing for him. Also, the Tom in the chamber was only half his soul and it was split after a murder, so perhaps it’s stuck in the emotional place of killing. And the handwriting in the journal may have been the impression he left on it pre soul split

  • @lizasoliman723
    @lizasoliman723 3 года назад +4

    arguably since Voldemort was using his diary his handwriting wasn't going to reflect much of a mania of he was trying to trick Harry Potter into trusting him so likely he was using more of a print version of his calligraphy to seem sane. It's also notable when writing with a quill one is writing more traditionally and a forward slant would be standard for Snape or Voldemort to use regardless of psychological reasons

    In my country or at least in my school they taught us how to write in cursive, and when everyone was writing printed I obviously wanted too, but the teacher forbade it for me and made me do the whole thing in cursive again. Now my handwriting sucks (it’s mixed and so horrible) but I try to make it pretty lol

    I also don't use dots on my i's. I've watched a few of your videos, and have been wondering if you were ever going to cover it, so I'm pleased you did! I would counter that, for me at least, it's not so much about forgetfulness as it is about minimalism, or a disinterest in superfluous things. I've also noticed that when I write two letters together, for instance in words like 'look' or, or even when I use two of the same letter in the same word close together, like in 'even', I often write the second letter smaller. I feel like this supports my theory about the dotless i, because I interpret this also to mean that I can't be bothered by superfluous things. Or maybe that I feel like it's unnecessary to repeat the obvious, if that makes sense. I certainly know I have that trait. I tend to skip over things that I think everyone already assumes, and have a sort of impatience with jumping ahead to things that might not be so obvious. I'm sure it makes me come across sometimes as if I disagree or don't care about what matters, when in reality, I agree so much I just don't feel like it's worth discussing, since we all must already be on the same page. It might make me seem a like I'm a little heartlessly analytical, when in reality, I'm a bag of emotions. I feel that both my dotless i's and my mismatched letters indicate that I get bored easily with needless or repetive things, and that I lack follow-through when it comes to those sorts of tasks.

    One thing that would be a good idea for movie producers to do is have someone who fits the character profile by nature do the showcased handwriting as not to be "corrupted" by the actor's.

    In the “I am lord Voldemort” picture I don’t think that the capitals were on purpose because in the scene the letters from Tom marvolo riddle was rearranged to be I am lord Voldemort so I think that might change something? Idk it still makes no sense

    It's def educational and I'm surprised these hand writings follow suit in the movie. I have very rarely seen female writing in film when it was supposed to be a male actor's XD
    IMO graphology should be implemented to make it that much more believable. That aspect of being believable is what sets apart a good actor too.
