There’s a good sized group of folks who like this one. It’s practical and purposeful, with some convenient features. With a sensible amount of care and servicing, it will last quite a while. I appreciate you taking the time to add your valuable comments.👍😎
Hi Randy. Good video. You mentioned plastic spool pins. Ive got a Singer 338 with a spool pin broken off flush. Is there a good way to remove the pin piece that remains? Thanks!
On a lot of those machines, you can take the top off and push the remaining spool pin piece through from the backside. Sometimes on the underneath side there’s enough protruding that you can grip it with pliers and just pull it out. Good luck 🍀
I could talk for days about Singer and marketing. They take a machine platform that’s meager at best, they put an acceptable to outrageous name on it, and ship it out to the eager public. It’s like when General Motors has its advertisement for its “Heavy Duty” pickup truck: “Like a rock” is the theme. It’s not like a rock. It’s a cushy pickup truck with heated seats and a backup camera. I’ve not seen any rocks like that. But it works. MARKETING Find a used Kenmore 158 series like I tout on my channel. Find a Singer 401-a or a 500-a or similar. If you just want a new Janome, get one of the high speed side loads that only do a straight stitch. They’re pretty awesome, but have their limitations.(as do all machines) If your looking for something with more features, the 3160QDC is a good little machine. Neither are HEAVY DUTY. But then, NO NEW SINGER IS EITHER. But they may be: LIKE A ROCK. ie, lipstick on a piglet. Good luck.🍀
I love this machine.
Also, I am in a wheelchair, so the start/stop button is essential.

I have 2 Singer machines (confidence and heavy duty). I want one Janome that would best combine these two. Which one would you recommend?
