her grandparents took in her and her younger sister, and their uncles became their brothers. Her older sister and brother were taken in by their great-aunt, and I think they still see them.
Same here 🙋🏽♀️ adopted by my aunt and uncle and I remember the drive home when I asked them what I should call them (I was six years old). I was legally adopted at age ten. My sisters were raised by our grandparents. It felt very normal to me and adults were always shocked at how unbothered I was about it. My life is/was great, we are all really close, and I am loved deeply❤.
Hearing this story of adoption is strange to me and, I guess, other Africans because we don't classify grandparents raising or fostering their grandchildren as an adoption arrangement. This is because the African child belongs to the extended family members and the community to an extent. My child's child is my child in essence, even though not directly mine biologically.
My mom adopted my sister and I when she was 1.5 and I was 3… we were both crack babies with some health issues but she loved and took us in anyway. I’m now almost 46 and my sister passed in 2019 at 39 and we both always loved our adoptive mother and thanked her for loving us and raising us into the women we turned out to be. She told us early on we were adopted and never kept our blood family information from us. As an adult I realized how difficult and conflicted she must have been but loved us so much decided to make sure we knew our blood history so we could make our own decisions about delving deeper into that subject. I’ve never felt anything but positive and inspired by my mom’s choice and am thankful to have had a great childhood and strong positive, Christian influence growing up and a wonderful grandmother to my children. I commend Simone for being so transparent and open about this subject. 😊
This means she had NO REASON TO FEEL LIKE SHE WAS UNWANTED! This means she was treated beautifully! This means the grandparents were amazing! I wish I could meet them bc there’s nothing on earth that makes me more content, relaxed, happy and ecstatic all around than to know and feel that children have a home, space, time, happiness, PEACE, CALM, and love! Be well and may GOD FOREVER BLESS YOUR PARENTS AND YOU!
Those jealous family members who told them that they were adopted definitely banked on her & her sister not feeling wanted; that's the only reason you would tell a kid that they're adopted. Family can be cruel as hell sometimes.
As someone adopted. She’s an amazing person for being so open about it. Wow. Love her even more. I wish more people adopted. It’s a cruel world we live in, where everyone needs half of themselves in another person to care about them and love them…..
I love this. My dad adopted me when I was 3 but he has been with my mom since I was 18 months. I’ve never known anyone but him as my dad. I think they told me in 5th grade and I was like ok. There were some rough teenage years because every teen has their issues, mine came from not being wanted by one and the other choice had attacked my mom. It sucked for a few years. But no matter what my dad was there, he loved me through all of it. At 49 (me), I could ask for a better dad, grandpa to my kids. I am blessed that my mom found him, that he found her, that she let him be my dad and that he chose to be my dad. I have 3 beautiful siblings that are nothing by my siblings, they aren’t half, they are my brothers and sister. And recently I found out I have 4 other siblings that completely believed how I came to be, what their dad did to my mom. He died. I’m left with my family I was raised with, including my dad, and 3 new brothers and a sister I love.
Beautiful story and I totally understand cuz my twin and I were adopted by our great aunt and uncle on our father’s side. They also asked us if we wanted to call them mama and daddy. this reminds me when i was a kid, i would ask the kids around me “what language does your grandparents speak?” cus mine only speak spanish and i thought everyone’s grandparents spoke a different language. they looked at me weird and said “English?” and my world shattered that day lmao
But a grandparent is not meant to take on a parental role. I feel it belittles all they have done to say they are grandparents. They are biologically her grandparents, but to be adopted they are her parents. This means round the clock 24/ 7 care, full financial and legal responsibility. Grandparents have no legal rights whatsoever.
But it is an adoption 🤷♀️ in a court room. This isn’t just her grandparents taking her on “to help”. This is her grandparents legally adopting her. Her birth certificate changed names of her parents. Don’t take that from them. Her legal parents did a fabulous job raising her. 👏🇺🇸

❤ Amazing family, her grandparents were open and honest so the children wouldn't be caught off guard. 🤗 Keep breaking records Much love from Philly
Shes so articulate very beautiful lady ❤
Stop using articulate w black ppl of course we speak and enunciate well!!!
@@marquisstukes2376some people express rhings better than others end of the story .stop malking it about race
Why wouldn't she articulate? 🤔
@@bluelight8664to be fair, that's not what articulate means
@@marquisstukes2376omg YOU just turned this into a racial thing… she is articulate and it’s refreshing to hear her speak. NOT because she’s black, but because so many people who are apart of our generation ARENT. Have you heard the Kardashians, or other well known people in her age group speak? They speak like teenagers, so yes. Simone is articulate and speaks well and it’s pleasant to listen to🤷🏽♀️. You should redirect this energy to someone who’s actually unfairly criticizing her, because there’s obviously a TON of people who are terrible to her, not someone paying her a genuine compliment just cause you don’t like it.
🙏 Yeah well "I'm loved". Adoption is loved.
God bless this young woman and her grandparents for taking care of her. ❤️🧡✝️🙏🏼💯🏆
Her smile is beautiful 🤩
What awholesome attitude Simone B
I wish more people would listen to your wisdom of acceptance at such a young age !!!
❤❤❤ 😊😊😊
This is adorable. She’s like aren’t you?❤❤❤
Thank you, and keep on inspiring people. My little sister introduced you to me, and i still can't forget hype and the smile i saw on her face. Your energy has touched little girls in Africa. The way they come together just to talk about what you did and still doing is so inspiring. Keep it up
God bless her grandparents! They have provided for her and now she is a super star. ❤❤❤❤
Love does not distance you❤ she is simple saying that she was loved❤️❤️❤️
Whether your grandparents are adopted you or not they're still your parents they're your parents' parents. I feel like you're so blessed that they didn't allow somebody else to adopt you that kept you in the family praise God for that.
They did an amazing job that she never even felt like anything was missing
Children are blunt... sometimes a bit cruel, but this is their best quality. They speak their minds

this reminds me when i was a kid, i would ask the kids around me “what language does your grandparents speak?” cus mine only speak spanish and i thought everyone’s grandparents spoke a different language. they looked at me weird and said “English?” and my world shattered that day lmao
😂
God bless this young woman and her family! 🙏🏾🫶🏾
Awww... She is well loved by her family. A strong lady!
The innocence in her eyes when she shared this story ❤.
That’s amazing the way she speaks you can tell
She had a fulfillment lifestyle
Simon and her sister are so beautiful. I wouldn’t even consider that adaption. They are their grandparents 😊
Yea, I think like this as well. Many people raised by grandma😂❤
Agree, my mother took care of my sister's kids when she passed away. They called her Mom.
So love her! I was adopted also and love her openness about it.
CONGRATULATIONS TO THE GOAT!!! ONE OF THE GOLDEN GIRLS!!! ONE OF MY FAVORITE PEOPLE. I ENJOY HER STORY ON LIFETIME YRS AGO. IT WAS A GREAT MOVIE. SIMONE 💗IS A BEAUTIFUL HUMAN BEING INSIDE AND OUT. MUCH LOVE❤AND GOD BLESS🙏🙏😇😇🙏🙏 YOU AND YOUR LOVEONES
I wanna shout out her adoptive mother who was actually her “step-grandmother”. As a stepmom myself, knowing the struggles, I can’t imagine what it must’ve been like at her age to adopt 2 little girls. And the fact that she did it and raised them with so much love and support. She deserves an Olympic medal as well.
Aren't you. Aww the innocence of a child. 🥰
I listened to this so many times Jus to hear the "Well yeah aren't you where'd you come from"😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
