Thank you so, so much! Worked like a charm! For anyone reading, I have a Sienna 2009. Bought fob and key online. They sent me programming for fob instructions only, and when I called customer support, they told me key would have to be programmed by dealer. They were wrong, this did it!!
Thank you for the comments. PLease consider subscribing to my channel.. I haven't posted videos recently, but I do post new videos as I find topics to post, and You tube will be pulling me from the partnership program if my subscribers don't increase.
This worked like a dream! My 2005 Sienna doesn't have the light you're supposed to watch for, but I just waited one minuted, and proceeded--it worked! The locksmith who cut my blank, by the way, warned me if it DIDN'T work, not to keep turning the new key on and off--a few tries of not working and it will go into major anti-theft mode and only being towed to the dealer can release it. Big bucks. As it is, I paid about $10 for two blanks, they were cut for total $3, I followed the steps exactly, and voilà I have two new working keys. They of course do both door and ignition. THANKS, GERMANPICKLE!
Thank you man, there are a couple of other videos on this subject and I had to find your's to make it actually work. It appears they weren't a "clear" on things as you are...cheers and thanks again for saving me a grip of cash!
Thanks a ton! This was a great video, I really appreciated how you actually walked us through you programming your key. You saved me $100, and I am really grateful for that!!
Light never stops blinking when new key is inserted for the one minute wait. 2005 LE Still not sure if door should be left open or closed on 6th open, and if ignition should be on or key simply inserted
He turned newly cut key to "on" position for the 60 second duration. So you have to cut key before programming or can we cut after we confirm programming worked? Others leave key inserted but not turned. What is correct method? Some leave driver door open, others close door sixth time and keep closed during the programming. ???
If you got the new key copied from your worn key, it's not going to work any better than your original. The dealer will generally cut your key you provide for about $10-20 with proof you own the vehicle. That will give you a key cut to factory specs. You can do the same at a Locksmith
Good point. Use the key you use the least as the key to make a copy from. Dealerships in my area will not copy a key for anywhere that cheap , but they are the ones that will be able to provide a proper key, if needed
@@germanpickle Here in Phoenix allot of dealerships will cut it for $10 as long as you provide the key and proof of ownership. They charge allot to program the key though. Most locksmiths including me will code cut a key for $5-$25
I have a 2002 Toyota Sienna XLE, that has a security feature, not sure if this feature involves with programming the remote, but i can't seem to program it. I have tried with diff instructions, but can't get it to the automatic cycle itself. Any idea ?

Question! I just picked up 4 keys from Amazon, dealer cut them, and I got 3 of them programmed perfectly. When I tried programming #4, it got to the flashing light portion of the sequence and it flashed twice then three times, then twice then three times, and kept on doing that. It never programmed that 4th key. The original and the 3 new copies are working. So, is there a limit as to the number of keys you can copy at a time? Can I try that 4th one tomorrow? I just don't want to risk messing something up by keeping on trying if there's a limit somewhere. THANKS for this video, saved me $85 per key, so $255 in my pocket!! I have a question for key fob programming also, but will go to that video and post it there.
Yes there is a limit to how many you can program. I don't recall what the limit is. I believe it was 5 keys but I'm not certain anymore. I sold my van a few months ago. If I recall there's a way to clear all keys from memory and reprogram from scratch. (Unless I have that mixed up with my current vehicle)
if you have no key at all then you will need to have a key made by the dealer based on the serial number of the vehicle. they will need to do this to get the cut pattern. You may also need to tow the vehicle to the dealership for programming. having no key at all is a problem. If you have at least one working key this guide applies.
I want to do this for my 2005 Sienna. When I look on Amazon, some of the blank keys listed say : "This transponder key must be cut and programmed by a dealership or qualified locksmith." IS THAT FOR REAL--LIKE, WILL YOUR METHOD NOT WORK WITH THOSE BLANKS?
Those are the blanks I used. I took them to NAPA to have the keys cut. They warned me they wouldn't work. I told them thats fine I just wanted them to open the doors. then I went home and programmed them myself. you just need the correct key otherwise the programming will not work.
My key that I had made turns in the ignition, so it is properly keyed. I have done this multiple times and it never stops blinking with the new key in. Help me please
Here is the instruction I got from another guy: 1. Using a master key (original key), insert (and remove) it from the ignition 5 times. On the 5th time, leave it in the ignition, then: 2. Open and close the driver's door 6 times. 3. Remove the master key. The security light should now stay lit red. 4. Insert the newly cut key. The security light should be blinking red; wait about 60 seconds until the light stops blinking and turns off. 5. Remove the new key. Insert the old master key and start the engine and turn it off.
For those of you who have a 2018 model, you'll need one of these (this is just an example - you can get the device from various vendors) I used this link, because the instructions are accurate and the ones that come with the device (made overseas) make no sense whatsoever: www.keyprom8.com/wholesale/toyota-g-toyota-h-chip-vehicle-obd-remote-key-programming-device.html?gclid=Cj0KCQjwzozsBRCNARIsAEM9kBNfdm27Xs75UdeflGsFkZM5n-pXyr50zZPL-pNQKeGPHnRQ1S3KWMQaAjtVEALw_wcB

This worked for me except where you say turn the new key to on, i actually had to leave it to the off position for it to work, as per other video
Do you have any instructions for programming 2007 Toyota Camry Keys/Remote Combos ??? TIA

Agreed with Dan, thnx for the video.
As a note you need to do the steps pretty fast or you won't get the apparently needed solid red light...
How do one know which one is the master key?. I have 3 keys. 2 are black and 1 gray

never tried it with uncut keys. I would suspect you need the key cut first as this is how I learned it.

germanpickle do you know how to clear keys? And if so how will original work after clearing ?
I own a 08.. I can't get the security light to stay light ? Always flashing

Does it work for 2016
How come wont work on my doors. Works in ignition but I cant open door.. also bought 2 keys can only program one :(
My key that I had made turns in the ignition, so it is properly keyed. I have done this multiple times and it never stops blinking with the new key in. Help me please
you may have the incorrect key. you need the 4D-67 key. It has a dot punched into the key.
germanpickle yes sir, that is the one I have.
its possible that your key is faulty. this should work for the 2004 - 2010 model years.
Same like you, but when I tried another way, it worked. Instead of turn on the new key, just insert it.
Here is the instruction I got from another guy:
1. Using a master key (original key), insert (and remove) it from the ignition 5 times. On the 5th time, leave it in the ignition, then:
2. Open and close the driver's door 6 times.
3. Remove the master key. The security light should now stay lit red.
4. Insert the newly cut key. The security light should be blinking red; wait about 60 seconds until the light stops blinking and turns off.
5. Remove the new key. Insert the old master key and start the engine and turn it off.
will this work on a 2012 sienna??
I do not think it will work on the 2012 and newer, sorry.
germanpickle ok. Thank you for replying.
