The Mighty Luscombe flies again. Very cool! So much work, and important to get it back together right. Thank you for your reporting efforts, Juan, as always.
Jaun you have had a busy summer for sure. Thanks for taking the time to give us this update a lot of has been done since your last flyover and update. Give the family my best and a hug and kiss. Have a great day. God Bless!!!
Thank you Juan, for your usual informative video! I'd even fly with you and I'm not big on ANY airplane! I once covered a car manufacturer's new car parking area with tensioned fabric hail protection structures and made a few air tours of the project and it scared me to death! I came up in structural concrete and I still think the insurance of a cathodic protection system was/is warranted. I would also recommend a high strength epoxy overlay of the surface of the spillway to resist cavatation! Thanks for your great work......!
I got a good chuckle from a Alaska Airlines 737-700 captain after a good solid plant touchdown in Nome. I piped up as I passed the open cockpit door, "That was a great Kablamo landing!" I think he must watch this channel too. The plane ballooned pretty good just as we 'flared' into ground effect and we drifted a bit longer than I think he planned...so it was either go around or set er down. The runways in bush alaska don't have much in the way of 'extra' to play with. So we set down hard and he ratchetted the binders and reversers tight. That plane can stop pretty darn fast. Much better than the older 200 series they still use for milk runs and freight. We used up every inch of the asphalt and turned around well past the last set of white bars to make it back to the taxi-way.
Thanks for the update Juan! I love seeing the dam and the surrounding country from the vantage point of the Mighty Luscombe. :-D Still a bit to do, but they've been working hard and I'm sure they'll stay on schedule.
Loving your updates of the works at Oroville, have just watched them all, fascinating stuff. Subscribed and eagerly awaiting the next installment :) ..... and nice landing
On most projects, I cannot imagine how they can spend millions of dollars; on this one it is easy. It is pretty cool to watch the progress from what it was to what it is now. HUGE thanks for covering it like you do; really gives you a sense of scale for a project this big! Don't forget to ask the dam guys for a little concrete to fill in the hole you made pounding it onto the runway :-)
Juan you always give great information. The one thing I always notice is the lack of boating when you fly over the lake, only 4 boats out today and maybe 3or 400 at the docks.
Thanks for the dam update Juan, cool to see the progress being made 👍 I would love to see the wall fire burn scar now a year after the fire. I live in that area and would love to see it from a birds eye view :) cheers Juan!
Thanks juan. Helped a gentlemen do a bunch of work to a Luscombe like that one summer. He took me for a long right at the end of the summer when we were done. A word of advice,,close the windows on takeoff. I know it is probably sweltering there,,but it's better that barreling thru a cloud of bees right at rotate. Pops and I got waylaid for a couple hours due to those buggers getting rammed into the cockpit of his Bellanca with the windows open on takeoff. Ouchie!!! Made for a interesting but painful flight back home.
I rode around the Palermo ditch last week into the "Forbidden Zone" for some pics. The red and yellow flags were a nice holiday decoration from top to bottom. Cool straight line approach about the South fork btw.
Was wondering if the ML was ready yet for such a report. Appreciate it and look forward to more form you as the summer rolls on. Love the flight lessons also and wouldn’t mind more of those...and thanks as always....
In the 80's one of my many jobs at the highway dept. was planting wild flowers, grass and tree's along the highways..Wondering what the final cover will be for the area..Takes me back to the 60's when we had Big Muskie ripping the hills of Ohio and our ag class would go see it and the reclamation process after it went through
Lol, 'waving at the fans'. You crack me up Juan! Re the flying, one thing that has always intrigued me. You mentioned runway 7 and runway 25 at Nevada County but you don't have 25 runways at the airfield. This scenario also applies at just about every other airport or airfield I've visited, including my own single runway local airport. Wanted to know why they did not call them simply 1 and 2 everywhere. So I went off to investigate after watching this video and found out it's something to do with magnetic compass points. I love this channel, makes me learn something new every time! Thanks for the Oroville update, looking good isn't it?
Been missing your vids Thx for a ride in the mighty luscome...can't believe it's only 100 horses ;) and thx for describing such things like the landing it's fun...wish u would bring a subscriber with u.
May need a little work on that parade wave to the fans... ;-) As always, I appreciate you time, energy and effort you put into this channel. I always look forward to hearing about your adventures. -Indianapolis, Indiana
THANKS JUAN for the update😍😍😍 MIGHTY Flying machine looks and sounds airworthy for another year. Nice crew and job site stills make for interesting storytelling. That overview of the retardant dump looked like it saved some nice real estate in the woods. FLY SAFE 😇
Thanks for your good info updates. Thought of you and the dam as I flew YVR-SFO-STL on 12 June - not enough planning / time to drop in and buy you a coffee :)
I've taken flight lessons. learning from someone like mr godmode here would be incredible. takes every relevant thing into account as if it were breathing.
Juan, with your extensive knowledge of aviation, wild fires, etc., you get this question. Yesterday, 7.20.18 we were in Reno. Where was ALL THE SMOKE from!? It truly looked like an L.A. smoggy day. What's up with that?
It's the "Fergeson?" (?) fire just outside Yosemite, along with a good 'delta breeze' blowing smoke over the Sierras into Reno/Carson area. Bad Air Quality Index in your area.
There a lot of people doing darn hard work out there in the California heat. My hat's off to them. Juan, when they open the new spillway for the first time you better tell that airline company you work for that after all this time and effort there is no way you're going to miss the event. Otherwise it might be interesting to see you fly one of their shiny new 787's in circles around the dam.
@blancolirio Olla Juan!! Been a while since I've checked in on you. Nice to see you in good health and I will assume and pray the same for your family. As usual great pics and STILL digging the music. Peace and God Bless.
I know you think you're being funny or "shadow dominant" but I want to make you an offer: Stop what you are doing to me right now (9:30 pm EDT Jul 20, 2018), release my ability to simply communicate with others on this platform and I won't join the lawsuit that is coming and have you personally tracked down and prosecuted for deprivation of rights (have you looked that up yet?). However, if you haven't done so (un-banned me) within the next 12 hours you will have left me no choice but to participate in said lawsuit and because of your refusal of my generous offer I will do so with the utmost zeal and with a special prejudice towards identifying and prosecuting you in specific. You would be unwise to think that such a thing can't happen. I'm sure your bosses are telling you "private corporation = immunity" but because of your size and the constitutional questions involved your immunity is diminished if not completely absent. Please don't be stupid. Un-ban me now.
good to see the spillway is almost complete. two years have passed since Oroville failed and the slide took out the spillway and soon the spillway will be complete and the dam operational.
Another great Oroville update! Not discolored by any national lame-stream media "sky is falling" hype either. Thanks for the straight-shooting, Juan. Additional praise for the great footage taken by 'Captain Kablamo' at the controls of the 'Lusty Mitecombe.'
Yet another interesting video. It is nice to know a 777 pilot still enjoys 'sport' flying and gives us great views of the spill way at the same time>!.
Covering that structural concrete is imperative because if it goes-off to quickly, (meaning loses too much moisture too quickly) it can crack ruining the whole effort at that point. You can't just fill a crack. You have to remove that whole section and replace it. I haven't watch your videos for some time Juan, but appreciate an update.
Juan, FYI evaporation does not get anywhere near 2,000 CFS. If you use CDEC for a daily summary, you will find that evaporation is more like 100 CFS +/-. Negative inflows are due to the fact that INFLOW is a calculated value, not measured.
NICE buttering of the bread on that landing. can you put the gopro up at the windscreen so we can see more runway on approach ?? lol.. it just amazes me how much earth has been moved at the dam, est on the cubic feet of dirt that has been moved ??
Another great update on the Oroville dam repair and replace project! Is that a new propeller? Maybe it's just been a while to see your baby flying again. I know you used some of the DWR photos, but your photography and video are very well done, especially since you're flying solo doing many things at the same time you're filming! Great job!
Always fun "flying" with you. Was wondering about lower left port on instrument panel. Looks empty. Always wonder when I see pics of panels with missing instruments why that occurs?
Senor Brown, you have by far the BEST channel (Blanco Lirio) update videos with proper detailed information only thing is can you do a by-monthly update?
Well Juan it's been a while since my comments on your U.S. 'media' and the fact that you were the only honest American reporting. Those poor people in Oroville must have been frightened to death. Things are certainly looking good at the spillway, it must have cost a bob or two. One has to admit you 'gawdam Yanks' don't mess about - excellent work. Take care and all the best.
Yayyyy! I'm getting your ATC /headset mic audio on my iPad now! Good job Juan .… or You Tube? (I have no idea what, if anything, has changed compared to previously, though?) Another great update on the continuing Oroville story. And didn't the Mighty Luscombe seem to fly just that l'ill bit sweeter after her annual? 😜 Great job, as ever, Juan. Muchos appreciate all that you put up. 👍👍
Clear and unbiased coverage of the construction progress, topped off with some relaxed flying time.
This channel is good for my stress levels. :)
The Mighty Luscombe flies again. Very cool! So much work, and important to get it back together right. Thank you for your reporting efforts, Juan, as always.
Yay! I’ve been waiting for another Oroville update from you! Always enjoy your reports!
Thanks for the Oroville update. Nice to see how they are coming along. Awesome landing Juan. It is so nice that you take us with you.
Jaun you have had a busy summer for sure. Thanks for taking the time to give us this update a lot of has been done since your last flyover and update. Give the family my best and a hug and kiss. Have a great day. God Bless!!!

Thank you for your service and God bless

There is such beauty and precision in what you do, Juan. It's a joy to see. Thank you for doing this. :)

Great stuff as always Juan. The ultimate Historical Documentary of the Disaster at Lake Oroville.
Thanks for the update Juan! I love seeing the dam and the surrounding country from the vantage point of the Mighty Luscombe. :-D Still a bit to do, but they've been working hard and I'm sure they'll stay on schedule.
thanks juan, that was cool, seeing the plane go back together , as well the flight

Love your videos. Family, riding, flying. Your such professional and nice guy.
Thanks for keeping us curious onlookers up to date. Great video!
Thanks for the dam update Juan, cool to see the progress being made 👍 I would love to see the wall fire burn scar now a year after the fire. I live in that area and would love to see it from a birds eye view :) cheers Juan!
THANKS Juan, nice flying, excellent narrative. Good job!!! 😎

I always enjoy your updates on Oroville dam. Thanks a bunch for doing them!
So happy to see the view again from the mighty Luscombe!
I sure do enjoy going flying with you, Juan. Also, great reporting.
That luscombe looked smooth and happy for the flight, it must have been born on Canada day! lol.Things looking great at Oroville!
I rode around the Palermo ditch last week into the "Forbidden Zone" for some pics. The red and yellow flags were a nice holiday decoration from top to bottom. Cool straight line approach about the South fork btw.
Another great update video from one of my favorite channels. Really enjoy the Mighty Luscombe ones.
Wow! 🙀 It just looks as if there is no end to the project!! Awesome update as always. 👍🏻👍🏻 Thank you soooo much!! ✌🏻
Thank you Juan for the update .
Was wondering if the ML was ready yet for such a report. Appreciate it and look forward to more form you as the summer rolls on. Love the flight lessons also and wouldn’t mind more of those...and thanks as always....

Terrific video as always. One of my favorite channels.
gene bruce You are right sir. He has one of the best channels on RUclips.

Yay Juan's back. Missed that intro music.
I know! That's like the best part lol
I love that music also! You know it’s an Oroville update when you hear that!
thanks for another great video., Juan. amazing progress at the dam, really fun to watch your videos.

I just flew from dfw to lhr on flight 78 earlier today. I believe you were on the flight crew. Thanks for the smooth flight!!
Thanks Peter!
Many thanks. More please
THANKS JUAN for the update😍😍😍

Could u do an update on the dam in Columbia please. Love your channel.

IF I ever need to fly somewhere on an emergency situatiom i would want Juan to be my pilot i would feel very safe with him in the cockpit
So the crews at the ORD are looking up whenever the sound of a single engine goes over and know your on the job. Good work sir.
There a lot of people doing darn hard work out there in the California heat. My hat's off to them.

The old gal is looking sharp Juan, good to go.
@blancolirio

Been following your updates since the damn havic
Yet another interesting video. It is nice to know a 777 pilot still enjoys 'sport' flying and gives us great views of the spill way at the same time>!.
Great reporting as always! Love that Luscombe! 😎
Thanks for the updates!
Wonderful video Juan!
I almost missed this video the last thing I saw was your plane getting ready for its yearly inspcection.
Great update Juan!
Great audio in the air plane!
Good to hear she'll be airworthy for at least another year. Nice "glider" approach, BTW.

Any word why Oro Dam Blvd East is closed? I didn't see any traffic on it at 8:40 nor any construction...
Nice flight, too.
Your Luscombe is proud of its A+ and showing it.
Thanks for the update. It was excellent as usual.
Thanks for the update!
Awesome Juan !!! ....thanks for the update
Thanks for all that you bring very insightful I'd fly with you in anything !✌
I love that Luscombe!
Pretty awesome Juan. You get better with every vid i watch.

We thought we heard you overhead on Saturday. But whenever we hear a single engine, we say There’s Blancolirio.
Frank Lloyd Wright you guys could chalk on a big Thank You Juan! on the spillway.

Thanks jp! Yes they were!
700 Million US and counting....
Make a good ski slope in the winter, bit damp at the bottom maybe. Oh! I forgot - Good video as always. Cheers for now.
Another awesome update.

Very nice video, thank you
Thanks for the commentary!
As a pilot as well, I wondered how you connected the audio off your comms? Tips welcome!
