The whole MTV unplugged session is amazing 💜 George Michael - the King of covers 💜 although of course George had no need to cover other artists songs so obviously enjoyed doing so. Other great covers by George are, Going to a town (Symphonica album live) The long and winding road - live (Beatles song) Tonight - live - Rock in Rio concert (Elton John song) and so many more. Also George's performance at the Concert of Hope - Killer/Papa was a rollin stone. Brother can you spare a dime - Net Aid concert. And then there are George's own creations- A different corner / Outside live - Parkinson show, Then we get onto George's studio releases. My go to songs are The Strangest thing (Older album) Cars and Trains/ Patience (Patience album) My favourite George duet is 'This is not real love' which George dueted on with Mutya Buena of the Sugababes - George breaking hearts in the most beautiful way 💜 You have a lot to discover so enjoy your George feast 💜
Hi, This is my first seeing your reactions. I really liked this song when It came out by Bonnie, However with George, I fell in love with this. George is incomparable to any song he sings. You see George has the voice of an angel! The music he wrote, sang, arranged, and produced was his & his alone. When came time to collaborate, or sing other artist's songs, He made them his own, respected each artist & really didn't change much, other than his voice & perfection in his craft! Yet, in my opinion as well as many others, GEORGE DID IT THE BEST! That's what made It his song. I've never heard a bad from anyone that met him or worked with him, he was well-loved & respected for the kind of man he was & how he treated others around him. Let's not forget how professional & a perfectionist he was. When It came to his music, that was his baby, quite literally! A very special thing about George was the kind of man/human being (very rare) he was mind-blowing in some respects. But once you get to know George through his music, with his pure heart & soul that goes into every word singing, or any rehearsal, interview (which he hated ) concert anytime you hear the words come out of his mouth, You find out how honest, humble, kind, well mannered, & just a joy to listen too! George was also very intelligent, not to say that he didn't makes mistakes as we all do as human beings, However when he did he always came out & admitted what he did, took the consequences like a man & never did It again, for the most part, I'm sure. He probably had to mess up a few times before making It work, but never intentionally hurt anyone. George now is a shining star up in the heavens yet is still here in our hearts forever! Join us ( his fans) in celebrating the blessing we've had to live in a time when George was sent to love & be loved, by George! We all miss him terribly! Amazing what can come of amazing talent performing an amazing song - Bonnie Raitt's version still slays me every time but this performance is right up there. Wow.
I've never heard George Michael cover this song, but do love his music and have a few albums. I've heard Tank's version and loved it. I believe it was the 1st male version that I've heard til I stumbled on Teddy Swims 4 years ago looking for a song that Jamie Foxx had covered by George Strait (You Look So Good In Love). Would love to see your reaction on Teddy Swims rendition if you haven't heard it yet. :)
I tend to listen to the words of a song more than the music so it's very interesting that you interpret this song as "sexy" and "peaceful". That does describe the music, but the lyrics are devastatingly sad. The singer is spending one last night with the person they love, knowing that their partner doesn't love them back the same way. The singer resolves that they will do the right thing for them both and leave in the morning. The pain of being physically close to someone but not having their heart is palpable. (I love your review though... Music is what each of us feels when we listen. There's no right or wrong interpretation.)
