I bought this specifically for a few adventures I've got in mind. Whilst I have the Biluta packraft, I'm not totally happy it will suit my needs, hence this purchase.

Nice - thank you for this video! Just picked up the 85 myself.
@@joeeddwaggoner8100 it's a great little craft 👍😁
Hi Karl. It looks really portable and easy to manage...seemed very stable getting in and out too👍 Nice piece of kit👍😊
It's cracking Des, I love it. I've been on some whitewater this weekend in it - brilliant fun 😁👍 I was right about the skeg mount, it did catch a bit in the shallows, nevertheless I didn't ground out in the shallows any more than any of the other guys I was with.
GREAT video! Glad I watched this as I've had this raft for a year and recently bought that camera tripod. What a great idea! It's a great hybrid that packs well for hiking upstream and paddling back down. I look forward to more great vids!
That's great, I'm glad it helped 👍😊 whereabouts are you based?
While I think on, if you've got time, the recent Packraft on the Lune video shows me using this on whitewater and you can see how stable the camera is, especially compared to day 2 where I used a different raft 😁

@@gow_g_rod that's a fair distance away 😁 I think this craft has only just become available here.
Thanks for sharing! What a great detailed review. Always interesting to see how much of a difference a fin makes! We're glad the Expedition 85 suits you and look forward to seeing your future adventures!
I'm glad you like it... Look forward to seeing both this and the Cirrus out more :D
I think this is your best boat yet. Looks like a decent all rounder - and easy to fit into the car and carry around.
It's certainly going to have its uses, especially for car camp trips. I'm also planning some cycle/paddle trips too and I've bought a suitable bag to carry this, a paddle and other gear. When I've done cycle/paddles before they've been a challenge due to the weight when cycling - this should make it more manageable. I'm just hoping I can get the bike on it 😁👍
@@MoreThanJustaCleaner looking forward to seeing those videos in due course. Good to see you have your mojo back as well. And it seems you have as many hats as you have boats!
@@TheWalkingKev ha! Way more hats than boats 😁 I've been busy making a load this winter, including the one you see here 👍😊
Looks like a really interesting boat. You've tempted me to look into getting one... Great video mate
Cheers Si 👍😊 just bear in mind, it's not a fast boat and it moves very differently to what you're used to 😁
Hey Karl , really enjoying your videos , of course Ive subscribed . I just ordered one of these , Im in British Columbia Canada , found these on sale for 40% off from an outfit in Edmonton Alberta , wasn't gonna get one until Spring actually but it was such a smoking' deal !
Hi there 😁 thanks for your kind words 👍
Yes I believe all AG products are on sale on your neck of the woods at the moment as they first clear the stock. Not sure if you're aware but the AG owners (Kent Outdoors) have merged AG with their other brand BOTE. Good time to buy 😁
Looking forward to this one. Was thinking of getting one myself.
It'll be handy for what you like to do Billy 👍😁
That looks a really nice canoe, bit pricey but it does look good. Can't wait to see you in white water with it.
Here's hoping it's a lot of fun 😁👍
Hi, thanks for the lovely review of the kayak. Can you recommend which manometer that you use for this kayak? I have been unable to find a manometer that captures low PSI readings in the 0.8 to 1.0 range and that has the right connectors.
You're welcome 👍😊
I use a couple of different pumps -
1 - The Outdoor Master Bonito amzn.to/3MZPjLW no manometer however when it starts whining the boat is about right. The pump doesn't have the power to overinflate so it's not a problem. I sometimes add a little air manually afterwards.
2 - Flextail Max Boat pump
I bought it on Amazon but it's currently unavailable. It has a built in manometer and inflates to a max of 1.5psi. I set it to 1.1psi and let it go until it's finished.
I hope that helps 👍😊
@@MoreThanJustaCleaner Thank you for the info. I actually was lucky and got the Pumteck pump used on amazon pretty cheap so I will try that one as it goes to 0.67 psi which is pretty close to what the floor will take. Hopefully I can eventually find a manometer. I check out what the pressure feels like on another boat that pumps with an electric pump when it gets to 1 psi as a guide too.
@@lenalaberge8256 I've still got a Pumteck knocking about somewhere 😁
Hello Karl, I'm a 85 owner out of San Diego and new subscriber who enjoys your content. need some advise. Lost a boston valve and have almost given up with AG as there is no one there that seems to know what valve it is and not really getting anywhere with customer service since bote bought them out. I got 2 off azn in the 22mm size but the threads are different or wont fit properly. Do you know where to find valves for this and posibly the skag at a reasonable price outside of AG ? I've put together a 20lb electric boat with this 85 that sets up in about 4 min with an onboard pump. Been thinking about getting the Cirrus to gain some more space in either the 11 or maybe the 15 if it would work well solo. Have found another 85 that I could buy for $300 and carry it as a spare with full duplicate electrics as it doesn't weigh much. Looks like I could get the Cirrus 15 for about $800 and be about 25lbs with electrics with the ability to carry up to 600lbs. With the Cirrus I could carry a 8x6 floating dock on board for camping on a lake. I really like how fast I set up the 85 with the seat installed and the light weight. Whats your thoughts between these two boats or if you'd recommend looking at something else you like better. Not liking the direction the company is heading in regards to customer service with the kayak lines but could still work. I will mainly use in the bays and harbors where I live, with some lakes, maybe slow rivers when traveling in a small van.
The Cirrus is a cracking little craft. I've got the 110 and I've way overloaded it and gone camping with it - not sure if you've seen that video ruclips.net/video/-o4JL3WyzkQ/видео.html
However I also like the Deschutes for it's rugged simplicity, as well as being relatively light at just 8kg. The seat base isn't great in that it's firm, but it's zippable so you can always insert something better. I haven't camped with it yet though.
Do you like the Cirrus over the 85 and have you ever tried the Cirrus 15 solo? Do you know what valve is in the 85?
@@dberschauer2 they're totally different boats made to do different things. The Cirrus is faster and more rigid whereas the 85 packs down smaller and is lighter and made from thicker denier TPU so it's a bit tougher. It's also easier to maintain because it's one piece.
The 85 uses Boston valves.
Interesting informative video. For a first time user (not v strong/disability…) wanting to get out on local rivers/canal for a couple of hours at the most would you recommend it? Was the seat comfy? I’ve been looking at the itiwits but the difference in weight is huge and would make such a difference to me being independent with it. Just a bit worried about tracking issues especially as upper body strength isn’t the best. You’ve a wealth of experience Karl. Your recommendations for a lightweight 1 and 1-2 person inflatable kayak that’s as light as poss would be appreciated (less than £500) Ta v much-oh and not the folding one after your review/water stuck inside! Many thanks. Anna
Oh gosh, whilst I totally appreciate your confidence in me, with no knowledge of your health issues I'm not sure what to recommend for the best.
I tend to think this amzn.to/3TDuVTb the GoPLus is one of the best crafts for beginners because it's relatively lightweight and more stable than average. I have reviewed this - and I found the pump and paddle are a bit naff but with it being £299 you've got room within your budget to upgrade.
Failing that, maybe a packraft is a good option because they're really light - but that lightweight robustness comes at a price.
Thanks so much Karl. I’ll find your review again on the one you mention. Cheers. 👍
@@Anna-ib3xb you're welcome 👍 stay in touch 😁
I would need an electric motor on this, Karl, but plenty of wild water places up here , in Scotland.
There are indeed, and when I'm next up there it'll probably be with me 😁👍
Was curious about thickness denier wise especially the bottom. I know Alpacka uses a reinforced 840 denier for their pack raft floors for white water river use.
I'm not sure, all I know is it's tough. You might like the Pink Flamingo adventure trip we did. On day one I took this down the River Lune. Lots of white water, lots of grounding out - not a mark on it 👍😁
I must admit when I first seen the ruler printed on it I thought the same 🤠🤣
🤣🤣 filthy minds
You can also use that ruler to check your inflation level (hold up an actual ruler, if they line up your not over pressuring the boat).😉
@@makechips yes cos I always carry an actual ruler for a paddle 🤪😁
There's no turning back now you've said on here your doing the white water Karl but I am a bit worried about your skeg mount, I've seen them damaged in shallow water when they pick up small stones so hopefully that will not happen to yours mate.
If it does it does, however it's not the same as the standard ones on our DS boats, so hopefully... 😬😀
@More Than 'Just a Cleaner' my bag's are already packed Karl so see you up there. Either at the pub or the carpark 😉
I'm packing tonight, already started :) I'll Whatsapp you!
💖👍12lbs...love it.
So light! 😁👍
Nice to See, but i still prefer the Decathlon Itiwit 100 st half the price and weighing 2 Kilos only.
Fair enough 👍😁
Why this small boat so expensive?
Because TPU is very light, very durable, and expensive 👍😁
IM GUNNA BUY 1
Have you seen one of my latest videos where I took it on a train, then got on the water at Leeds?
