if you were on the west coast and you liked Hip Hop you knew Dre, lonzo and the wreckin cru..... when NWA's first tracks came out Dre was still in the Wreckin Cru....
This Cut is a club song that came out during the whole 1984 Egyptian Lover Sir Mix a lot time! Dr Dre Super killed it! Sir Mix a lot Super bump this Cut at his Boys Clubs partys in Seattle in his 84s Partys!👍💯
I'm always annoyed when fans of gangsta rap make fun of this, from how Eazy-E mocked his past with the Wreckin' Cru. This was never supposed to be gangsta. It was just really solid electro, probably largely influenced by the fact that Unknown DJ was originally from Detroit, the birthplace of both p-funk and techno, who brought this influence with him to LA. Yeah it's kinda campy and gimmicky by today's standards; welcome to black dance music from the late '70s and early '80s, the post-disco era. But that has its own charm. It was a product of the times and you'll never get another thing just like it. And honestly, when I saw Ice Cube live in 2008, doing his mean-mugging and gangsta posturing, I thought it was just as charming in how silly it was as the Cru's shiny suits and campy lyrics. Only difference is, Ice Cube actually took himself seriously.
Eazy didn't diss this type of music. No one did. Eazy dissed Dr. Dre for basically being a studio gangster knowing well that he was never into the gangster life. He dissed him for changing from disco music to being a "fake gangster"
Eazy said himself on so many interviews that this was the popular music at the time and everyone was into ballads and singing to women and stuff like that. He's cool with the music Dr. Dre made before NWA, he just didn't like the fake persona Dre was using as a studio gangster
Still it was an easy target. A lot of entertainers looked gamey back then. Everyone has something they'll never live down. For Dre it's definitely that look. Tough LA dudes was in the clubs doing the cabbage patch and shit with Jerry Curls and spandex on at the time though so like I said, people just looked very expressive in those days. Every style wasn't really styling in hindsight all the time. I had Mc Hammer Pants once and wore them bama ass jonts with pride. Nothing to question sexuality, but I've definitely had some fashion fails in my time and laugh heartily at them now. Plus in Dre's defense the main lyrical content was how dope Dre and Yella were and "we're lady's men".
This type of electro funk music was big in the South from the 80s to early 90s. Here it became bass music. That song Planet Rock was a big influence on music it seems.

I used to listen to a song called Tour De France by a group called 10 Speed. It was on a K-Tel Breakdance album. It came out around 1984. It sounds just like this. I wonder which one is the knock-off 🤔
@tock will 🤣 It's because first of all, I had heard that there was another Dr. Dre, which there is, but I only found out recently that he's not a rapper but a DJ in NY) Secondly, Dre's face wasn't on the cover of my Surgery 12". And! Thirdly.. Surgery was Electro, and a little cheesy compared to NWA's gangsta rap. So C'Mon man! Cut me a break!🤣
There was another guy named Dr. Dre that was in a group called Original Concept and a veejay on Yo! MTV Raps. The Dr. Dre in this song is the same Dr. Dre in NWA though but different from the MTV guy.
