I swear if i was a snail, I'd munch on your beautiful leaves like i am in a 5 Star restraunt! 🤣🤣 They're seriously so pretty though. Thanks for the tips.
You are so right about the microfiber cloth! I have always used a cotton cloth, but the microfiber does shine those phal leaves beautiful. Just spent 2 hours cleaning 60 plants! Thanks for the hint.
After you featured slow release fertilizer on your orchids and your polychilos phalaenpsis I actually tried it out! It was phalaenopsis hieroglyphica our narive species and I put slow release on it and other orchids around may this year and now it end of july, I saw dramatic result 😄, the flowering is overwhelmingly many and the new leaf is even in color. The flower is super detailed and even in shape, it always remeinded me of starfish because of it's uneven edges and curled back and it's a great display this year. Thanks for the share of knowledge it's just great! 😄😄
I have a Bellina phanaelopsis that I bought at an orchid nursery here in Quebec and as soon as I brought it home, a few weeks, its leaves started having some whitish traces, no webs, and they feel rough. I don’t see mold per se but when I water it it smells a bit of mushroom. But the leaves are not nice now, I wonder if it is something else even though I don’t see any pests. It is chilly on my window sill, could it be that? Or should I try peroxide and repot it? Thanks for your interesting and informative videos!
At 5:00 minutes into the video, what phal is that one on the left, back, upper with the very rounded, broad leaves? I would like to add it to my wishlist..
Hi Danny. Just had a keiki fail because of mold. Would’ve been able to save if the media was changed in time. Think fresh spagnum moss is good mold prevention ? Thanks Danny. ❤️
Thank you. Quick question is it ok to leave orchids in the plastic container inside a pot for an extended time? I always thought it wasn’t healthy for the roots 🤷♀️
Hi, if you mean the decorative containers, yes they can stay like that forever. As long as the decorative pot is bigger and not tight around the plastic pot, all is fine 😁
Hey! I am a new to caring for orchids, your videos help so much! I have a root that is growing out of the stem but turned inward? Have you ever seen this and will the orchid be ok?
Hi Miss Orchid Girl, I love watching your videos!, I started my own collection with seven orchids (phalaenopsis) because of you :) I get the feeling my area where I live is a little to moist for bark and the "normal" medias, so I began to repot my jewels into seramis. My question now: is it okay to use seramis with plastic pots and ventilation holes, or does it have to be clay pots and seramis because of some reasons i dont know yet? Thank you for you time and stay healthy :)
Hi Danny, i was wondering is it normal for a tetraspis tu put out three spike but only putting up flower buds on the newest flower spike? Will the older ones bloom?
hey i have a question about dehydrated phals. i have watched your videos on them and i mist the now growing roots and i keep them humid, but their leaves are still showing signs. does it take a while for them to bounce back?
timely video, I started using new pots and a new medium (more sphagnum moss) and mold has started growing in the bottoms unless I take them out of the decorative pots. Not enough air flow? I also might need to go back to plain bark even if I need to water more often. I think it's similar to the first mold in the vid though, so I guess I'll leave it be for now.
I wish my orchid looked as nice as yours! I think mine is done :( I could cry I got it for Valentine’s Day and tried so hard to keep it alive. I repotted it in mostly bark and it stopped growing. I cut off the flower spike so it could focus on vegetation .. but no new leaves or roots have grown :( I put it outside in mostly shade and now it’s sun burned :( any tips on how long I have to wait for a new leaf/ some movement ? It’s been like 2 months since I’ve seen any hope
Question re video on watering...sphagnum turns green - algae? And is that harmful to plant? Algae sure makes pot "goopy" looking...algae is problem I encountered with seramus (sp?) and i moved to hydroton which I do love except for the frequent watering. Does the rock wool produce algae if that is used instead? And most importantly, thank you...we appreciate your good work.
Just bought some new sphagnum moss which needed wetting, which I did and stored it in a plastic container with lid. After a week I opened it to use and there was orange mould on one side on some strands as well as green mould it a few areas. Does anyone know what it could be and whether it detrimental to the orchids I planned to use it for. Would appreciate some feedback.
@@DubstepMoncho9705 thanks so much for that. I wasn’t sure, anyway I sprayed it with hydrogen peroxide, it seemed to take care of the orange mould, but I’ll not use it on anything special, it’s so hard to get in my area at the moment. Thanks again.
@@DubstepMoncho9705 as mentioned I sprayed with hydrogen peroxide, seems to have done the trick, but also I left the container open and in the sun until it was almost dry, am going to leave it in the sun a bit longer until it completely dries up. I won’t use it until I test it on an ordinary house plating or something that I’m not concerned about. This is just a test for me, I’ll try getting a new bag anyway. And by the way or ordered some on EBay which came from China, well guess what, it turned out to be full of dust, grey and disgusting. Proves you get what you pay for. It will go in the garbage for sure and another lesson learnt from that. Sorry to ramble on about this stuff but people need to know about these things, and be warned in advance, which is what I wish had happened to me. Thanks again for your advice, much appreciated.
@@Paynge0613 Oh my, thank you for telling me that! I had no clue! I have not done it to my orchids, but just seems to work great on my other plants. I only used it because my Mom always did. I don't think I will be putting on my orchids. So glad you told me this😘

Hi Danny, your summer Phals look amazing! They are my new Orchid obsession!! I have about12 right now and its only the beginning!!! 😍💓🐦🐠
Fungus problems are the worst; I've had both the white and yellow in my collection as well. I do love what you've done with your cabinet setup!

Can you use potassium permanganate? If so, what concentration do you use?

From the thumbnail I though you had gotten a really cool metal sculpture of a phal lol.

Mayonnaise also keeps leaves shiny. My mom used to use it on all her plants
Yikes! That’s a terrible idea. The oil in mayonnaise can ruin their leaves. Be careful with that.

i just use ro water as long as you dont spray with tap water that will leave stains. and ro water to wipe them and mine are so so so shiny lol
New on this, what us ro water?
Careful not to get water in the top when spraying
Mine hate me. I’ve kept them alive for over a year, but they won’t bloom.
Then they don’t hate you. Orchids are slow growers compared to other plants. Be patient, they will reward you :)
They seem to need a drop in temperature to bloom, if that helps
