I've heard him say a number of times that he believes that TK is a good person, which matches just about every report or statement I've ever read about him. Dutch has criticized his creative decisions sometimes, sure, but that's what he's supposed to do. Part of his job on his podcast, just like Keepin' It 100, is to give his opinion on a wrestling company's product, aspects he likes, aspects he doesn't, his opinion on what he might do differently, wrestlers who's work he's a fan of, wrestlers who's work he isn't a fan of, etc. Meltzer's been after Dutch for a while, well Dutch and just about any other legend, journalist, podcaster, fan, or whomever that doesn't sing praises about Tony and/or AEW. He made it very personal and took things to an ugly place with a callous, classless statement about Dutch and his family.
Dave Meltzer was much more effective as a liar before the arrival of search engines and fact-checking. These days, he is just a daily meme for how a hack reporter operates. It's fascinating to watch it in real time. He's like the niche-wrestling version of Amber Heard. He's such a narcissistic sociopath that he simply can't bring himself to apologize or retract a report or hear criticism.
Dave and the Observer no longer have substantial sources within WWE, so they rely heavily on AEW for content and inside scoops. Since the AEW product is ice cold right now, Dave is doing whatever he can to deflect the lack of success- including discussing revenue in an article about Dutch’s health. With WWE being the hottest it’s been in decades, the Observer is becoming less relevant in “wrestling journalism”.
All we keep hearing they are going to make all this profit next year. I got a feeling this tune next year when asked about profits we will here it’s a private company
Tony Kahn is a billionaire. Five grand to him is less than five cents to me. It told me how incredibly CHEAP Tony Kahn is. I mean thanks for helping Dutch. But you couldve and shouldve gave alot more.
Why does anyone care about what Meltzer thinks these days. He's given star ratings to Japanese matches that he's never seen. Pre-internet he would rate matches the same day or the day after they happened, despite not having seen it. He had "people in Japan who knew his standards write reviews for him" and they wrote up a review and faxed it to him. He's a scam artist, has been for years.
Did it even occur to Meltzer that Tony Khan, a self-acknowledged "fan" of old school wrestling, gave to Dutch's gofundme cos he's a fan of Dutch's from way back when??? Meltzer needs to stay in his lane before he loses what's left of his credibility.

Kind of a stupid thumbnail when Tony Khan is trying to help the community in any way he can. He's donated to Kevin Sullivan and now Dutch Mantell. This man dropped 10 G's on two absolute legends of the biz, while everybody continues to criticize him. That not only takes heart, but it also says a lot of Tony Khan and the pro wrestling community as a whole.
Most people aren't criticising him as a person they are criticising his booking. The two aren't the same thing, just because Tony is a nice and generous person doesn't mean he is exempt from criticism professionally.
It's funny how Dave dismisses Dutch's criticisms of AEW contracts because 'Tony is rich so money is irrelevant' and then defends AEW for making money, because 'only money is relevant' 😂
If Tony Khan has a backbone, he would publicly ask Dave Meltzer to stop talking about AEW, it only ever has the reverse effect. Tony won't do it of course, he'll take any and all praise that he can get
@@philwalsh8975 I did read it. You want him to tell Meltzer to stop talking about AEW, a ridiculous notion, then say Tony will take all the praise he can get. So as I said above, you managed to turn this story about Tony giving money to a big critic of his into hating on Tony.
As critical of Tony Khan as I’ve been on here, it’s never been directed towards him as a person and has always been me criticizing Tony as a booker, promoter and his management style as a boss. I’ve always known that Tony Khan is genuinely a really good guy, with a good heart, that is caring and always means well, who is also truly loved by many of the ppl that work for him in AEW. So it didn’t surprise me whatsoever that Tony donated 5 grand to help good ole Dutch out because that’s just who he really is as a person and it’s wonderful to see that kind of humanity in the wrestling business. As far as Meltzer goes, I am now ashamed that I used to respect him as a journalist and ever subscribed to his newsletter too. Seriously, I don’t know WTF has happened to Dave, but what he wrote about Dutch was absolutely f**king pathetic and disgraceful. It was just as bad as what that POS Bruce Mitchell wrote days after Brodie Lee’s death, basically accusing his poor widow of not being truthful about her late husband’s health issues and Dave actually did a interview for his site with Bruce Mitchell not long after that. However, as soon as that interview was uploaded to Dave’s website, it had to be taken down because even his own subscribers were f**king disgusted with him for interviewing Bruce Mitchell to begin with after what that POS wrote about Brodie Lee. So I’m not really surprised by anything Dave does anymore because whenever he’s reported multiple things just this year alone that turned out to be straight up BS. Dave just acts like none of those things ever happened and continues being his usual condescending, ignorant, know it all prick self on Twitter everyday.
I love the argument that they'll be making money next year with their Discovery Warner. That deal I've heard comes to 180 million each year I think..... Star Wars the Acolyte cost 180 million and look at how product looked and ultimately did, it looked terrible and was canceled in one season. A near 200 million dollar budget isn't that impressive anymore these days.

With WWE being the hottest it’s been in decades, the Observer is becoming less relevant in “wrestling journalism”.
didn't something very similar happen between Booker T and Dave Meltzer?
If Booker T had Dave Meltzer do a spinarooni out of the room and into a parking lot, I'd pay to see that!
I'm not surprised this is a guy who has carved out a career spreading stories. He's a wrestling tabloid don't expect integrity, honesty or class.
But “The VA is Wonderful!😃” 🤦🏾♂️
Why the hate on Dutch from Dave, he critiques wrestling.......just like Dave!
All we keep hearing they are going to make all this profit next year. I got a feeling this tune next year when asked about profits we will here it’s a private company
Meltzer is Konnan’s shill fetish 😅
Who's Conan?
I could be wrong but maybe they meant Konnan?
@@KeepinIt100OFFICIAL too much Arnold! My bad fixing it. Lol
@@theRealDMac16006 just maybe….
Segments like this are why I am a huge fan of this show.
You guys give it to the people straight... with NO chaser.
has Meltzer given a public apology for this?
He never do
Man, dave is a goof.
Tony Kahn is a billionaire. Five grand to him is less than five cents to me. It told me how incredibly CHEAP Tony Kahn is. I mean thanks for helping Dutch. But you couldve and shouldve gave alot more.
yet there will still be people who deny that Meltzer is a shill for AEW.
Once everyone stops talking about Dave, he no longer has any credibility. We all give it to him
How much money would be raised if all donations were made by Anonymous? I keep seeing people heralding the donations from well known folks connected to Mantell and the random fans in the YT comments who want to make sure everyone knows, “I donated X.”
@@ithinkaboutthings9052 bringing up hypotheticals doesn’t prove anything 🤷🏾♂️ just because you have a bad view of the world doesn’t mean there aren’t selfless people out there, get a life 🥱
Dave is spreading the new propaganda line from aew fans …
Suddenly the things they praised like full buildings, good ratings & ppv numbers no longer matter so any person pointing out their failings don’t have a point r understand the business
But there’s a giant flaw in that logic
If they’re only interested in keeping wbd happy for renewals… then they need buzz, full arenas for filming weekly tv & high viewership so the network can capitalise on advertisers… the points were judging them by
Kind of a stupid thumbnail when Tony Khan is trying to help the community in any way he can.
It’s pronounced “tan-gentjelly” if that makes any sense. Tangentially.
Dave has no morals. Part of that is he is a shameless liar and a bad person (I need to be careful how I describe that on RUclips 😂).
If Tony Khan has a backbone, he would publicly ask Dave Meltzer to stop talking about AEW, it only ever has the reverse effect.
Tony won't do it of course, he'll take any and all praise that he can get
Giving money to his critics tells me he has a backbone. Come on man how do you turn this story into hating on Tony?
@cmcg3738 read the rest of the comment to answer your questions
@@philwalsh8975 I did read it. You want him to tell Meltzer to stop talking about AEW, a ridiculous notion, then say Tony will take all the praise he can get. So as I said above, you managed to turn this story about Tony giving money to a big critic of his into hating on Tony.
@cmcg3738 you may have read it but you don't understand it
@@philwalsh8975 You say Tony doesn’t have a backbone and will take any praise he can get, then pretend this is not hating on Tony. 😂🤡
