It’s a great marketing plan to get people to spend money! I don’t go to target often but when I do I try to stick to my list. It’s a great store I do miss their old brands though in their clothing they lasted so much longer than they do now. I have t-shirts from 5-6 years ago that are still in great shape. I get stuck in the bullseye playground because the stuff is cute and cheap!
I’m working season at target right now and whenever I ask customers if they found everything alright they almost always answer “more than alright”, “oh definitely”,”this always happens to me, I came in for like one thing”. customers acknowledge this phenomenon and keep coming back. im happy to be working somewhere that satisfies customers above and beyond their expectations trip after trip! :)
I don't really buy anything at Target went I go, I'm usually just walk around the store looking around because they have amazing stuff but I don't really buy it✨
I’ve done merchandising for 4 years and I see all the merchandising “tricks” target uses. I even point them out to my husband when we go. It’s part of the fun lol
....Never had a problem with walking out of Target with only what I went in for or less. Easy to find what I'm looking for and get out just by making a beeline to the section I need, then to the registers. Only time I walk out with unexpected purchases is when I'm there with no plans (Often with a friend) and am open to buying myself something just for fun; and even then it's like, one, maybe two items, tops from the clearance section.
I do enjoy being in Target and occasionally stop for a coffee. Sadly I can't afford to buy anything unplanned. So the window shopping is where the fun is for me 😊
This all so TRUE!!! I LOVE TARGET!!! I shop every store but there is just something about Target It has an UPSCALE FEEL My favorite is the COLORS! The stuff is expensive but I still get it becuz the merchandise is good quality!

I think that dollar stores are pretty great at this, despite their layout not really being maximized for viewing. Since everything costs just a dollar, you see multiple things that you kind of need and think “it’s just a dollar, why not?” For this reason, I’ve been in there to get a few things, while going out spending upwards of $60.
I recently put up my own store at the mall. I did too much effort in my store design. My Co business owners laugh why I put too much money in my store design instead of my stocks. Later on people notice my stores Then they got curious if what's inside. Voila! They will come in and start buying hehehe
Same also. Lol. The toddler Cat & Jack is something I always end up grabbing. Getting an entire outfit, for $10-$12ish is kind of irresistible. When you have several kids always needing something. And that brand has definitely held up for us. I inevitably grab some sort of cleaning supply I had forgotten about.
This week, as I was buying trail mix, I saw some items that were marked as "2 for $7," even though 1 of them individually was $3.50.They made it seem like there was a deal you could only get if you bought two - sneaky!!!
If you go on the right days and you really pay attention you can find some amazing deals! I go in every week just looking for clearance items. I stick them away for my future house lol, I’ll be stocked up before I know it! Love target!!!
Target is the premium WalMart. It charges higher prices which naturally means fewer people will be shopping there at any given time. This makes the store less crowded, and thereby easier to keep clean. You go to WalMart for practicality, you go to Publix or Target to experience.
Ok so if you've made a shopping list, you'd probably know approximately how much you'd spend. Add 10 bucks to that, considering you might have forgotten to add an item or so. And just carry that much cash while going shopping. Leave your plastic money at home.
It's very easy to grab one thing and leave if you keep to exactly what you need over buying random, overpriced junk. Last time I went for water and I left with water, done
Probably one of their stores in Minneapolis. But here in Austin, they did three remodels earlier this year, and our newest remodel they finished this month looks exactly like the new concept Target that was in this video, it's quite amazing.
I never regret a Target visit for ALL the reasons you mention: from oh yeah, I needed that, to great trendy selections, wide aisles, better quality for the price from other discount stores, & Target brands are good quality too and lastly the best store flow.
I used to be an employee at a target, they set up the stores specifically for people who have addictions to shopping. I once had a manger tell me to set up an isle a certain way that way the impulse shoppers can see it and spend more. They claim to be about the community and their employees but they just want your money.
This is all very true. The people on the floor are even trained to help people find the exact things they are looking for and to help people build their baskets without pressuring them into buying something they’ll regret getting. Even the racks that stick out into the isles around the holidays are there to slow people down so they buy more gifts

Target is a great company. They care about their "guests" and employees more than their competitors and they show it. Even the ceo is a great guy. He came to my store last year and he was just a chill nice guy. You reap what you sow and I think all of this translates to happy customers and happy customers are willing to make purchases
Why because of watching all the assholes and wondering if someone is going to threaten you? I mean I shop at walmart too, but the atmosphere is way worse.
I worked as a cashier here, and honestly the number of times people told me, "I just came in for one thing." As an employee I didnt get sucked into that, so all I could do was smile and nod. But wider isles. That's a big plus for me.
My local Target recently got me to spend way less. They moved the pet aisles from the front, near the cash registers, all the way to the back corner, opposite to the registers, in the entirety of the store. I now go to Stop & Shop. Much easier. Also, I don’t care for the new layout.
They can say whatever... Target 🎯 is the best store!! everything is in your mind if I want 1 or 3 things that’s what I get like today I needed ice, diapers and body lotion that actually it was cheaper than kroger....and that’s what I bought if I’m looking for clothes or anything else then I know Im spending more 💰 for some thing that I need and that’s it! Starbucks? I just ask for ice water it’s free ...😉
I got a light up batman hat and my grown nephew got a Chewbacca pajama onesie. Both were on clearance - and neither was the reason for our visit. Good job Target!
Target sucks. Entitled customers and wtf are they talking about finding a employee? have you really been in a Target? you get lucky if there is two cashier's on a floor and find a employee not too busy trying to complete a whole floor before a low life boss comes to ask a repetitive stupid question that they know the answer.😒
You obviously haven't been to a good target. My target has at least 3 employees in every major section of the store, customers are way more kind, especially to us employees. Also if theres more than 2 guests waiting to be checked out someone gets called up to the front to help.
I work at target and they train us to engage customers for as long as comfortably possible and recommend items from sections that are across the store from each other; causing people to buy more products as they walk between them.
Now literally every guest is gonna tell the same joke......every......damn.....Time. its not a bad thing but just know we (employees) know what your about say before you even say it. Probably just ask the ETL for some more cross training in hardlines
Yes, it most definitely is a thing. I work there and people have carts filled with pointless things. Pretty much every time I'm at a register, someone is like, "I only came in here for a few things." but then their total is over $100. No self control. That's all 🙄
Yes, Target clean, always new displays. But after shopping there for many yrs, i go with list & focus, yes focus(hence the list)as i too(@ one time)picked up lots of stuf i didnt go in for. The key is to FOCUS. It works!
As a Target "Team Member" (that's what the company calls its employees) I've been told by "Guest"( what the company calls shoppers), "I ONLY came in for a FEW things." and they have a VERY full cart.
I do notice that Target is much nicer looking than Walmart. I like seeing Target’s colorful signs hanging from the ceiling right near where you walk in. I think they may be cleaner and more organized than Walmart because they’re not open 24 hours like Walmart getting the traffic that Walmart does. Target’s lower ceilings might also have something to do with it seeming more appealing.
Marles The Meeper It’s funny. My stores a total disaster and very disorganized. (Most sales in the district and yet not enough employees.) But they said they decided against the remodel at our store because it wasn’t bringing in enough sales in the ones that had it.
I worked for them for 7 years, the constant resets were a pain in the ass. Years later, I can easily walk in their stores, get only what I need, and leave. I usually the only one without a shopping basket at the checkout.
A little tip to avoid impulse-buys of things you dont need, is to pay with *cash.* Study show that when you use a credit card you are more disconnected about how much you are spending, but paying with cash makes you more conscious of the prices. Also, taking the exact amount of cash you need will stop you from over spending.

Dont blame target for your lack of self control.
:)
Ouch!!! So true..lol
But the layout of Target is meant to entice you to buy more stuff! The marketing is deeply researched for the best layout
@@aditijakkilinki9896 that's your problem. It never works on me because I know who I am and I know why I'm there. Use a list or go directly to the item do you want to buy.
Jaime Pardo but are you saying you never got something that wasn’t on ur list?
@@aditijakkilinki9896 I'm saying sometimes I get less than what's on my list because if they don't have it I don't just replace it with something else and I don't just spend the money on something else. Take responsibility for your own spending.
So basically what your saying is target gets you to buy more things by being a good store
It’s a great marketing plan to get people to spend money! I don’t go to target often but when I do I try to stick to my list. It’s a great store I do miss their old brands though in their clothing they lasted so much longer than they do now. I have t-shirts from 5-6 years ago that are still in great shape. I get stuck in the bullseye playground because the stuff is cute and cheap!
planned obsolescense. why sell a high quality product just once when u can sell weak quality 5-6 times.
Their produce sucks but they have the cutest seasonal home decor 😊
I’m working season at target right now and whenever I ask customers if they found everything alright they almost always answer “more than alright”, “oh definitely”,”this always happens to me, I came in for like one thing”. customers acknowledge this phenomenon and keep coming back. im happy to be working somewhere that satisfies customers above and beyond their expectations trip after trip! :)
I don't really buy anything at Target went I go, I'm usually just walk around the store looking around because they have amazing stuff but I don't really buy it✨
The dollar section is now 5 bucks
$1.00 - $5.00 at most stores.
$1, $3, & $5 items in bullseye's playground.
that's the 99 cent store.
Your channel name is very ironic considering how I lost brain cells reading it
I love target too
I go shopping with my Ukrainian mom who makes sure what we needed is what we came out with and nothing more
This video would be even more interesting if there actually was a Target in my country (UK)
Theres no Target in Singapore too
Yeah, same I'm in the UK 2
No one gives a shit about ‘your’ country
You probably have an IKEA near you. And they are Also Masters at this. Stores want you to spend more and more time there. And as you become hungrier / tired the more impulsive you can become
Same(Canada)
Lol. I used to go crazy in Target. Go in for school basics leave with bags upon bags of stuff. Now maybe 4 to 6 things over my original purchase. Went in for lightbulbs last week left with pasta, an extension cord, conditioner, a fall outdoor rug, coffee mug and lightbulbs. See much better.
Target is life for us stay at home moms! I get a couple of those imagin ink books from bullseyes playground, kids color, and I get my grocery shopping done in peace🙌🏻
I never regret my Target purchases. I never know what I need until I see it. I just walk into Target and let the spirit move me.
I love Target! It's sad to see major retailers close their doors. I feel Target keeps up with the times. And they are smart, I love to go and see, feel texttures and such. I hope they never close! It's a great shopping experience!
I would rather shop at Target and spend money on quality things vs Walmart cheap crappy things anyday!!!
Its the same stuff...just different pricing
Wal-Mart brand Clorox bleach
Ikr 🤔
Wal-Mart brand Clorox bleach No, it’s not. The quality is way better in my opinion. Worth the money
They sell the same stuff
Ok I see why they renovated the Target near here.
Target is like Vegas. You’re in there forever and spend a ton of money.
I recently put up my own store at the mall. I did too much effort in my store design. My Co business owners laugh why I put too much money in my store design instead of my stocks. Later on people notice my stores
Then they got curious if what's inside. Voila! They will come in and start buying hehehe
That Starbucks coffee cup on the shelf!! At 4:01 Lmao
Pinhead boi all the time haha
Love how there was a target ad in front of this
I personally don’t care for Target. I go there MAYBE twice a year. It’s mostly because the prices are high.
Leah Estey they price match 😉
Same also. Lol. The toddler Cat & Jack is something I always end up grabbing. Getting an entire outfit, for $10-$12ish is kind of irresistible. When you have several kids always needing something. And that brand has definitely held up for us. I inevitably grab some sort of cleaning supply I had forgotten about.
What target is this?!?! I work at one and it's a mess
Joycelyn Antwi Prob here in Minneapolis where the headquarters where is
One of the new renovated ones. They look so different,
@@MM-fe9mz I think ours will be in a couple mouths
All the ones I've been to in Texas look like this...
They are remodeling nationwide. You'll get a remodel soon. By 2020 many will be done.
This week, as I was buying trail mix, I saw some items that were marked as "2 for $7," even though 1 of them individually was $3.50.They made it seem like there was a deal you could only get if you bought two - sneaky!!!
Consumerism consumerism consumerism.
NOW Repeat it again.
If you go on the right days and you really pay attention you can find some amazing deals! I go in every week just looking for clearance items. I stick them away for my future house lol, I’ll be stocked up before I know it! Love target!!!
New Target layout looks too much like Kohls
I love shopping at Target. The store is soo clean and nice.
I go into Target get exactly what I want and leave why?
Because I'm cheap!?
Like if you are to?
0:52 I literally have the route to the toy section etched into my brain
i greatly dislike starbucks
but i'd much rather give tarjay my money than walmart
I can't have caffeine, so having a Starbucks is like having nothing in that spot.
@@R.M.MacFru There are beverages on Starbucks' menu that don't have caffeine.
Target is the premium WalMart. It charges higher prices which naturally means fewer people will be shopping there at any given time. This makes the store less crowded, and thereby easier to keep clean. You go to WalMart for practicality, you go to Publix or Target to experience.
Yeah but can it beat WAAAAAALMAAAAAAAAAAAAART...
Yeah xD
yeahhh
🎶waaaaaaLmaaaaart🎶 from looney tunes back in action lol
Hola Burger yup
Walmart is literally the Great Value version of Target.
Ok so if you've made a shopping list, you'd probably know approximately how much you'd spend. Add 10 bucks to that, considering you might have forgotten to add an item or so. And just carry that much cash while going shopping. Leave your plastic money at home.
Target “expect pay more for less”
That's their attitude towards their employees.
It's very easy to grab one thing and leave if you keep to exactly what you need over buying random, overpriced junk. Last time I went for water and I left with water, done
I don't drink starbucks so I just walk right past, goddamn what target are you shooting this in?
Probably one of their stores in Minneapolis. But here in Austin, they did three remodels earlier this year, and our newest remodel they finished this month looks exactly like the new concept Target that was in this video, it's quite amazing.
Shaheen I think that is their downtown Minneapolis store. I’m not completely sure but I think it is
I never regret a Target visit for ALL the reasons you mention: from oh yeah, I needed that, to great trendy selections, wide aisles, better quality for the price from other discount stores, & Target brands are good quality too and lastly the best store flow.
I feel like this go about all store I’m might go to drugstore just to get chapstick and I end up buying the whole makeup section
I used to be an employee at a target, they set up the stores specifically for people who have addictions to shopping. I once had a manger tell me to set up an isle a certain way that way the impulse shoppers can see it and spend more. They claim to be about the community and their employees but they just want your money.
More like Costco does this even better 😂
You have to have a membership to shop at Costco though.
poobear Cretu yeah but they don’t really have cute decor. At least, not that I have seen.
You don’t decide what you need at target, target decides for you
Makes me miss Venture stores
This is all very true. The people on the floor are even trained to help people find the exact things they are looking for and to help people build their baskets without pressuring them into buying something they’ll regret getting. Even the racks that stick out into the isles around the holidays are there to slow people down so they buy more gifts
have you seen ikea?
As an ex-employee of a Target store. There is more to the Marketing now that involve the employees to get your to buy more. This video is soo true!
I stopped shopping to my local target when they tax me on a gift card...
Robert McNamara I work at a Target in Illinois and the gift cards are never taxed.
I'm a cashier at target in CA. Visa gift cards always have a small tax of, for example, $5 on a $50 Visa. Normal TARGET gift cards do NOT get taxed.
Visa, Master Card and American Express charge those fees. There is never tax or extra fees on Target gift cards.
@@saman6667 fine print in the left top corner , you pay a fee to buy visa , mastercard and american express gift cards . why I do not know . greed on their part perhaps
They all tax on gift cards. How else would they make money
I don’t live anywhere near a Target so when I go to one I end up going bank since I have the mentality that” We’ll I’m already all the way out here soo I’ll just buy one more thing”
i don't care what tricks they play on me, i know what i need and that's it, i ignore it.
You are so right, my strategy for shopping is a list and a budget.plan and simple
They have a strategy and you have a counterstrategy. :)
Target is a great company. They care about their "guests" and employees more than their competitors and they show it. Even the ceo is a great guy. He came to my store last year and he was just a chill nice guy. You reap what you sow and I think all of this translates to happy customers and happy customers are willing to make purchases
Fun I don’t feel that way. Targets boring. Walmart’s better
Why because of watching all the assholes and wondering if someone is going to threaten you? I mean I shop at walmart too, but the atmosphere is way worse.
Marles The Meeper hay man watch the language, let’s keep it clean
John Lake target is boring? It’s all modern and decorated. Walmart is cracked white tile floors and boring shelves.
👩🌾
I worked as a cashier here, and honestly the number of times people told me, "I just came in for one thing." As an employee I didnt get sucked into that, so all I could do was smile and nod. But wider isles. That's a big plus for me.
I leave with less cuz I'm broke.
Bullseye’s Playground is what gets me.
This is just an advert for target, did you disclose this "Business Insider"?
Target feels good to walk in.. the color red brightens the mood
My dad he is not a big spender but when we go to target he will say yes to everything! And that's why we love going to target♥️♥️♥️
Anyone else watching suddenly want to go browse at Target? 😁💕
Their damn catchy commercials make me wanna go to target
I can relate; I love shopping at Target! It does suck you in to buy a lot of cool things!
This is laughable. Intended to come in for 2 things and leave with 50? Nah, you just don't have any self control. Period.
@@felibee6468 facts lol
I haven’t shopped there in over year and I’m very happy they have racked up over hundreds of dollars every time I’ve walked in that store!!
Is this really a thing? I rarely find myself buying more than I came in for.
It works!
I hate target. I bought 2 things there 4 years ago and have never returned. Cheaply made clothes, painful cheap shoes, overpriced household wares. Ack
As a Target "Team Member" (that's what the company calls its employees) I've been told by "Guest"( what the company calls shoppers), "I ONLY came in for a FEW things." and they have a VERY full cart.
Target isn't organized. It's always run down and dirty. The lights aren't aesthetically pleasing, either. I just don't get it. I hate target.
Have you been to a remodeled one? Its way better. The corners are the best, I get so many compliments on our store since the redo.
I always make a list beforehand and stick to it, no matter what, while shopping. It is hard but doable.
One time I went into target and bought one thing. Never happened again but I’m so proud.
I work in Targets asset protection, and it’s such a great job! Target is a great company to work for
