From my view of the Boston Harbor anchorage off Nahant, Ma. I find it interesting while using the Marine Traffic App I can see that many LNG tankers in the cold months make a routine trip from Trinidad to Boston keeping New England warm and powered, Thank You!

WATCHING FROM TRINIDAD
Read something years ago about this,and how ancient people found and used crude oil seeps. My great grandfather said there was oil under our family farm,years before they found the Williston- Balkan field that stretches from southern Alberta,through Montana and North Dakota,then up to southeast Manitoba. See a bit from it each month,but not a lot these days.

The Venezuela region during the Cretaceous period, 145-66 MYA, was essentially a giant shallow bay something like the Chesapeake bay in the USA. Hence the hydrocarbons, it's where the plants were.
Venezuela and Trinidad and Tobago are wealthy due to oil. Look at their GDP per capita, despite the mismanagement it's nearly double that of Mexico, at nearly $20k USD/head. Black gold!
Would love to see the sequel to this clip and what the PNM have done to the Oil industry in Trinidad & Tobago. Those in power would have been wise to read an article by R. Potter in the Opinion on August 21st, 2021!

Venezuela did the same thing. They put all their eggs in one basket… not even in agriculture.
that's why the current government is trying to diversify with tourism , well all oil countries are doing this
i mean its the only thing on the island
tons of americans would visit if they feel safe and welcomed. and with us vacationing americans comes with us a lot of money and we are happy to spend it for a nice vacation in a new beautiful location. Also the rich ones are who will visit will also be much much more likely to invest their own money in the countries they visit. It seems like it would give more positives than negatives everytime .

My grandfather and my great grandfather were both oil men in Trinidad n Tobago. That's how they made the money to bring the entire family over here to the U.S and buy land in dutchess county NY .. the guy they keep flashing to who's telling the story sounds just like my grandfather's voice .

There´s a well known book about the discovery of the world by the Europeans, written by an Englishman. In the chapter about America, it is stressed the terrible diseases that the Spanish introduced, never mentioning the ones they picked up. Anyone knows where Siphilis comes from? the islands of the Caribbean sea , that´s right. And when this author tackles the exploration of Africa, time and again he tells us how the brave Englishmen were victims of the tropical diseases; not mentioning not even once the virus that they might have introduced in the so-called Black Continent.
The Spanish discovred the Islands before Walter Raleigh and named It Trinidad.
And then lost several wars.

The strange thing is ... because of 'personal interests' - most of Trinidad Crude is sold off and then product - Gasoil / Gasoline / Fuel Oil etc. is imported. Making profits for the few - while the majority then have to pay higher prices for fuel. I speak from experience of having looked after Imported Fuel to the area.

This documentary would do well to cover some of the ridiculous government corruption that hindered Trinidad's prosperity in the 90s and 00s.
