This car represents everything that Dodge should have done with the Charger in the first place. They did an outstanding job on this car, it looks awesome! I saw an all black and chrome driving the other day and it was almost to die for.
I don't have the challinger but am looking at getting this year with the 6.1L hemi but I do have the 300c srt8 6.1L hemi love the 6.1L hemi first of the SRT really is a fantastic engine a
For a 4K+ beast that Challenger is, the SRT goes pretty damn well. The R/T,s 5.7 is a dang good motor, but it is just not enough for the weight of the car and needs the 6.1 or bigger to be completive on the strip. I have a 2010, and it handles great for its size.
good point but i've read in some places that it will have cylinder deactivation which could help. i'm just surprised they weren't more careful about making this thing too chubby- which it seems to be (ie- it's Heavy).
I don't care about the tests, the ratings or any of that . I just have to get my hands on a Challenger. It is soo sexy. I went to the Dodge website and watched the short film about the Challenger. This one lady called it " a big, beautiful beast". That is very accurate.
Absolutely INSANE CAR. Oh my good god! Absolutely just tremendous and its styled better than any other car on the market. OMG! I want one sooo bad... SICK CAR!
I got to see this car up close in person for the first time a few days ago. It was colored black and my god it was fucking beautiful! Sadly, like everyone else, I was leaning on the new camaro, but when I saw the production model, It didn't look as good as the concept. I'm gonna be driving for the first time in a few weeks and I wonder if it would be okay to have this as a second car?
out of the three muscle cars this is the best looking one.Infact its probably the best car on the road hands down.If only dodge can get the charger to look like it did in 69.
Exterior is sick, they did an amazing job shaping it, however its still a boat that can't handle at all. Weight vs Power doesn't just apply to acceleration...
The main reason the Mustang has become the king of the muscle cars is because there was no one ther to fight it. Pontiac recreated the GTO, but it looked like just another Pontiac, but it had the power.
Swapped my '08 GT 500 in for the SRT8 with the six speed in hemi orange. Their is no comparison. Looks better, sound like a junk yard dog,and really turns heads. This is a real old school muscle car. Can't wait to drive it when the time arrives.......
Of the 3, that's my favorite looking retro U.S. muscle car. Kudos to Chrysler for not f'n this one up (like they did with the Charger's profile). Great looking cars.
I'm tempted by this a lot, and there is now way I would get a Mustang or a Camaro. Those are way too common and most are just junk versions. This one looks straight out the 70's and somehow appeals more because of it, plus you don't see them hardly ever. The 2011 must be arriving soon, definitely going to take one for a spin.
Better than the Camaro? Why is he doing youtube car reviews when he can predict the future? Bravo on reviewing the performance on a car that hasn't been released yet.
Wrong Lutz has already stated the new camaro will be at a "premium" over the mustang V6s and GTs pricing cause it will be a better overall car performance and trim wise.
The R/T is going to rule. 10 grand less and you still get a 375 HP 5.7 ltr!! (And stick baby!) Also love the fuel saving cylinder activation thing they got on that engine.
looks tough, sounds like an american muscle car, looks like an american muscle car and most importantly goes like an american muscle car... i love it, its styling hold form to the original and it isnt overbearing, the car itself is a subtle statment of masculinity that isnt over the top like the competition... if i could get one in australia, i would definately buy it... but only in manual....
if you compate the 41k price of todays srt with the high end models of the classic muscle car era with the perspective of inflation in mind, the price is right on target and not far fetched at all.
Its maybe not the fastest or best cornering car but damn is it good looking!!! Coming from a guy whos always being a hardcore fan of jdm cars(owns a rhd jdm z32 lol) but if it permits me, ill try to get my hands on one lol.
Beautiful car. I'm surprised they did not push more horsepower into the engine. It is hard to believe that a 2009 CTS-V will dust this car as a 4 door luxury sedan...
at the prices they r at now....yes they r the best for the prices they r selling for now! wht would u compare the US car to? and we even sell them many many of them internationally. i live in qatar and u see more american sports cars over here than u do at home in the us
@airsoftloverusp The Mustang was NEVER a Muscle car. Muscle Car. n/ Big, Heavy, Stylish Powerful Coupe with a 8 Cylinder engine. Pony Car. (See Mustang)
G5 Posey, if you can afford it. or you can get a v8 edition and customize it yourself. in my opinion the Challenger looks one hell of a lot better with a body kit and some good exaust compared to the camaro.
Keith was on the track at Willow Springs. Everyone driving there was required to wear a helmet--even Dan the video guy riding shotgun had to wear one. Plus, Keith was hauling ass.
I'm a long time lover of the 60's muscle cars and I'm really loving these new versions of my old favorites. That being said, why do American car makers have the worst timing? With gas at $4 a gallon now they should have brought these cars to life 10-15 years ago when everyone was going SUV crazy. I think they've missed their timing on this one because gas is only going up from here and people are going to have to get economical cars weather they want to or not.
The Camaro is supposed to weight in around 3500-3600 pounds. Even having less horsepower, it should still match/beat the performance of the Srt8. Actually in a recent Car and Driver the Bullit Mustang with 315 hp ran something like .3 seconds slower then the Srt8. Plus an auto tranny will lose more hp to the wheels then a manual. The new Camaro will also use a tried and true motor that will have TONS of aftermarket support.
I guess it didn't end in 2011,but sales aren't nearly as good as Mustangs & Camaros; so they say it will end with the return of the Barracuda possibly in 2015. I hope it makes it more attractive for us who own one now.
, one is just an updated version of the one before it of course.. Eseries is the newest version. I actually like it. It should sell very well over seas plus the US. they still need to work on making the production cost less like the bot made companies.
Hey trigga1uk, have you ever driven an American car let alone owned one for 5 years? I have a 1998 Ford f-150 and the only thing I have replaced: oil, filters, tires and spark plugs. 10 years old and still running strong. Just because that twit from Top Gear is a biased fuck against North American cars doesn't mean they are junk.
You can't compare that car to a Mercedes or other 60-90k cars. It is a completely different type of vehicle. It was inspired by American muscle cars of the late 1960s/early 1970s.
walidmvp, of course its heavy, it's a 300c with a bodykit... the charger, 300c, and the challenger are all the same chassis, it's called a "cookie cutter" design, that way its cheaper to make all three. all companies do it.
australia would have the biggest muscle car culture, the cars made in austrlia are becoming more and more powerful and muscular, like the new 7liter HSV
Heard the news? camaro will have a 415hp ls3. and will weigh 400 pounds less.and that 415 will be under rated just like ls1 cars were. that motor is rated at 430 in the vette and they put that out to the wheels with exhaust and a dyno tune bye bye challnger. hope you guys like the new rear end styling lol. and as for the4 r/t...i hope you like getting your doors literally BLOWN OFF of the HEMI!!! LOL haha
+Prince Mauhdi III Not offended at all. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, WRONG or right. First its 2 generations old. Second, in the German game you are stupid buying the newest thing just to say i have the newest thing and you loose the most money from the rapid deprecation of these German cars. That's why a real car enthusiast would wait a couple of years for the new car bugs to be worked out. As for posing, how I own a 545i and its faster and lighter than the RT like I said in my original comment. And curb appeal really the e60 bmw line blows most of your dodges out the water. And if I got an American muscle car it'd be the ctsv. Not a Dodge. The ctsv is by far a better car with its LS engine, better ride, and looks. As for the bad ass girls (this comment still makes me laugh) go ask a girl if she would like to go for a ride in your dodge. Hahaha sorry. then ask another if she would like to go for a ride in a BMW. You'd have better luck getting one in the dodge if you go to the bar around 1 a.m. and get the girl thats face down on the bar with her Marlboro red still lite. But don't be offended.
Mike Alban I take back everything I said, youre right, drive what you like, I was just being defensive about the Challenger. In fact Im looking at '08 Cayenne GTS 'cause I love it, don't care what's said about it, nor that it's from an older generation. I like it better than the new body. Ive been reluctant to go German, spoiled by Japanese luxury reliability, watching German owners spend thousands in repairs, they act like showoffs dumping money into a depreciating pit just to impress, but then again there are those enthusiasts who want that dynamic driving & engineering only the Germans offer, who cares what year. Something about Porsche & Audi Im most intrigued by.
+Prince Mauhdi III I know the feeling I came from a Honda background. A 2001 S2000, 2000 Jackson racing supercharged prelude, etc. But I also love the Cayenne. And I almost went with Audi but 3 years ago I found a mint 01 530 manual for 4300 dollars with 120k on it. It was as reliable as any honda I had ever owned. Then on impulse I saw the 545i at Sterling BMW and love that it had a 325 hp v8 with the adaptive headlight, dynamic drive, cold weather and premium package plus active steering and smg transmission. And traded it in with 175k on it and now regret the hell out of it. But your right like what you like and screw everyone else. Good luck on your search.
Who cares who's the best or who came out first! There all new gen. classics & there all fun to drive. I own a Mustang Cobra, a GTO, & a Charger RT, next is the Challenger SRT8 then the Camaro SS/RS or Z28, so long as I keep making the money I'm making now, whitch brings me to the point, invest your money wisley kids! I started in 2000 & now I have everything I want & need. When this collection is done I'll be passing them on to my kids when I get there. As of now I love driving my new gen's!
kno why I prefer the challenger, its everyday practicality plus you can actually carry people in the back seat ! thats better than back problems frm the other 2. just sayin not hatin. ;)
There are still some complain's about the Challenger and the Mustang GT500 !! Its all a bout the handling and styling for the inside !! I DO THINK THEY ARE WRONG !! Understeer & oversteer in peace my pro !!!!!!
A muscle car, by the strictest definition, is an intermediate sized, performance oriented model, powered by a large V8 engine, at an affordable price. i.e. an intermediate car with the biggest high performance engine available. $4100 in 1955 is not the definition of affordable.

I didn't think it was possible, but it's the first retrocar to really imrove on the original.
Congrats, Chrysler.
I don't have the challinger but am looking at getting this year with the 6.1L hemi but I do have the 300c srt8 6.1L hemi love the 6.1L hemi first of the SRT really is a fantastic engine a

the 440 has a larger bore of 4.32" but same stroke of 3.75" in fact, all of the RB blocks have the same stroke.. old 383, 413, 426 wedge & 440.
good point but i've read in some places that it will have cylinder deactivation which could help. i'm just surprised they weren't more careful about making this thing too chubby- which it seems to be (ie- it's Heavy).
this is my favourite !
i have a black 09 srt and i love it more and more everyday.
I don't care about the tests, the ratings or any of that . I just have to get my hands on a Challenger. It is soo sexy. I went to the Dodge website and watched the short film about the Challenger. This one lady called it " a big, beautiful beast". That is very accurate.
@airsoftmaniac51
Its just depends on the miles. A SRT8 will still hold its value even on a used one.
i`m not a big fan of american cars...but wow!! it looks great! im glad they kept the classic style look
Absolutely INSANE CAR. Oh my good god! Absolutely just tremendous and its styled better than any other car on the market. OMG! I want one sooo bad... SICK CAR!

that is a pretty neat remix of a song by Om...can someone name the artist and/or where to get this song?

@5dmc1 thats the easiest problem to fix on any car. just swap the mufflers
I love this car. Gotta get one. In black, please.
Of the 3, that's my favorite looking retro U.S. muscle car. Kudos to Chrysler for not f'n this one up (like they did with the Charger's profile).

hell yeah, we've got our groove back!
I love Dodge and that car!!

Actually the 1964 Pontiac GTO was :)
that 70's funk gag was hilarious.

Same, but the GT-R costs like 20-30K more.
The Challenger kicks ass.
Its maybe not the fastest or best cornering car but damn is it good looking!!! Coming from a guy whos always being a hardcore fan of jdm cars(owns a rhd jdm z32 lol) but if it permits me, ill try to get my hands on one lol.
how much it costs with shipping in europe ?
mustang gtr500, camaro 2009, this challenger... my god.. really hard picking just one isn´t it?
I have a 2008 SRT and I get stopped all the time its a real EYE CATCHER
"A Challenger has a better personality and personality goes a long way"
Beautiful car. I'm surprised they did not push more horsepower into the engine. It is hard to believe that a 2009 CTS-V will dust this car as a 4 door luxury sedan...

so you figure crank HP @ 425 - about 15% wheel loss and you really have about 360 to the wheels. Still a sick car.
Keith was on the track at Willow Springs. Everyone driving there was required to wear a helmet--even Dan the video guy riding shotgun had to wear one. Plus, Keith was hauling ass.

i fell in love with this car i wish i had the money to buy one
How do you get a job like that, test driving cars, I want the inside scoop
yeah lets see how many can it last
The Camaro is supposed to weight in around 3500-3600 pounds. Even having less horsepower, it should still match/beat the performance of the Srt8. The Challanger is the best - it was back in the 70s, it is in its reincarnation. . .
hopefully dodge will get alot of sells with the challenger so that ford and chevy will see that people like the older looks way more cause i know i do
The king of the muscle cars is the GTO. It was the first, the best, and will always be the king
this car acctualy looks muscle and it has that mean looking front i say out of all the new muscle cars i would probly get this one if i had the chance
it does have good breaks though and the grip isnt bad for a muscle car.but i would still rather have an sti.
awesome car, awesome video, awesome review
i want it how much is it
I still don't get how the Challenger and Camaro weigh so much.
What were they thinking??
, one is just an updated version of the one before it of course.. Eseries is the newest version. I actually like it. It should sell very well over seas plus the US. they still need to work on making the production cost less like the bot made companies.
that's just sick...i want one.
how far does it go on a $4.00 Gallon gas?
soooo far, so good!!!
first veiw, comment, and rating!!
I LOVE THE DODGE CHALLENGER!!!!!!!!!
the rims looking cool no need
@airsoftloverusp lol right. the Shelby GT 500 isn't a muscle car in the least.
Hey trigga1uk, have you ever driven an American car let alone owned one for 5 years? My dad has a charger and it is INSAAANE!! I would pay to ride in a challenger
You can't compare that car to a Mercedes or other 60-90k cars. It is a completely different type of vehicle. It was inspired by American muscle cars of the late 1960s/early 1970s.
its a pitty to say but the days of muscle cars are long gone.
They already have
joey, he basis that on the units sold.
the sliver one has nothin on the hemi orange challenger
Sweet car! Worth every penny! Trust me!
walidmvp, of course its heavy, it's a 300c with a bodykit... the charger, 300c, and the challenger are all the same chassis, it's called a "cookie cutter" design, that way its cheaper to make all three. all companies do it.
I WANT ONE OF THESE CARS!!!
Too bad I can't come up with that kind of money fast enough, or enough money for monthly payments.
are we watching the same video, its a first drive of the 2008 DODGE CHALLENGER SRT8
australia would have the biggest muscle car culture, the cars made in austrlia are becoming more and more powerful and muscular, like the new 7liter HSV
that's what I want for Christmas .
Anybody know what song is playing at around 6:05
Mustang started all of the retro look for all the new muscle cars
like the sound of that!
Heard the news? camaro will have a 415hp ls3. and will weigh 400 pounds less.and that 415 will be under rated just like ls1 cars were. that motor is rated at 430 in the vette and they put that out to the wheels with exhaust and a dyno tune
bye bye challnger. hope you guys like the new rear end styling lol. and as for the4 r/t...i hope you like getting your doors literally BLOWN OFF of the HEMI!!! LOL haha
Love the looks and engine but my 545i kills these heavy terds... Except srt8.
+Mike Alban @$20-$30K, Dodge muscle is the best alpha choice.

i think that the challenger will beat the mustang and cammaro but those cars arent slouches either they put out sum power also
never mind, a six speed manual will be available next year
@stealthcorvette yes but doesnt perform as well 2 bad its the worst of 3 but the best looking
This car looks the best out of the new muscle. From the front to the back. i will take one in white please.
There are still some complain's about the Challenger and the Mustang GT500 !! Its all a bout the handling and styling for the inside !! I DO THINK THEY ARE WRONG !! Understeer & oversteer in peace my pro !!!!!!
..and what do YOU drive?..
A muscle car, by the strictest definition, is an intermediate sized, performance oriented model, powered by a large V8 engine, at an affordable price. i.e. an intermediate car with the biggest high performance engine available. $4100 in 1955 is not the definition of affordable.

and designers creating bodies based on wind tunnel tests for better MPG. that's why all cars are starting to look very similar.
if only your words were as good as this car
that is just fantastic
what? u lost me with that comment. mustang, corevette, camaro, challenger, charger, trans am...
i cant help but laugh that there are training cones on the track, i only see those used with racing schools.
