Absolutely amazing collection, I envy you. I've got a 1955 British made Lee Enfield No 4 Mk 2, and soon I'll have an Ishapore Lee Enfield 2A .308 if everything works out.
Nice video =] Just got myself a 1901 BSA L.E.* NZ Army issued, used in ww1, soldier took it home and turned it into a target rifle (Replaced barrel with a Heavy Lithgow one & put on a Parker 9G Aperture sight) My 1st Enfield, and hopefully the 1st of many =D Look forward to seeing more from you mate!
you should be proud of yourself Jollygreenslugg. I really feel the pride you have in our Australian military heritage and wish you luck with hunting down that kiwi carbine.
Very nice collection. I had to watch it twice more to take it all in. Makes me want to start a collection of my own. You can buy hacked up sporterized lee enfield's here for 100. bucks or less, and the ones with full wood on them go for 250 to 400.
I have one from 1918. Made in Britain, shipped to Russia, and was used to explode German heads for years before falling into my dad’s hands. 102 years old and still Turns cinder blocks into dust from hundreds of yards away.
My God thats a beautiful collection sir thats got to be worth alot of money i love all but i half to say my favorite is the SMLE NO.1 or the SMLE Mark.3
UK forces allow troops to keep their own rifles in the central armoury and to keep track of who owns what, a brass disc is inletted into the stock normally with the name and unit, but you might have one where its a register reference number. If you look at the video some rifles have discs but their position varies slightly
Damn, that is a nice collection! Maybe you could find a Canadian Ross in .303 to add to it? I have a 1917 BSA #1 mk 3 and it shoots great. definitely an underated weapon.
Sweet jesus, huh! And heres me with my lone, meager (deativated) Lee Enfield.....I feel so insignificant :-p Very nice collection, be interesting to see what its like one year on again!
very nice collection. other possible worthwhile additions for you could be: S-R K31 in 7.5x55mm, various Mosin-Nagants, and perhaps a french MAS 36? by the way, the lightly colored SMLEs, what wood & finish do those have?
What a beautiful collection, Enfields are just amazing rifles. It's a shame .303 is so rare here in the states or I would have snagged one of those beauties for my own collection by now. I might grab one of those new production M10 .308 models in the future but I lack the funding right now for such a rifle. I have to ask, how big is your collection now?
Hello sir. I would like to start by saying you have a FANTASTIC 303 collection. Today we purchased a Mk5, no1 jungle carbine for my wife. It is in fantastic condition, and she is looking forward to shooting it. I have 2 questions for a SMLE expert. I have heard that there was a 15 round smle magazine. But have never seen one. after seeing your lee metford, and the length difference in the mag, maybe the rumor stems from someone double stacking that lee met magazine. can you shed some light on this subject...
He almost has enough for a museum but this video is 1 year ago so I'm sure he has many more by now, where does he keep all of them I wonder? Kudos to you Jollygreenslugg
nice collection mate 13 rifles!!! btw you are missing the jungle carbine. and i have a lee enfield bayonet which seem very rare which i picked up in syria. if you would like to see my bayonet, i can email you the pic later on.
Dang.... that's alot of rifles. Splendid collection you have there. Here's a quick question: Do all Enfields HAVE to have the brass ring on the side of the buttstock? Again, great presentation. Cheerio! :)
Thanks for sharing! I bought a 1941 No. 1 MK III* about a year and a half ago and instantly fell in love with it. Do you know how to identify where a Lee was made? I know the symbols on the plate between the butt and the rest of the stock are what gives it away, but I don't know which symbols mean what!
Very nice, I like Lee-Enfields because they have the highest limit of rounds in Canada. If my dad buys one and I get my minor's license I will put up a video too.
Wow you really love your enfield rifles!! Nice collection, no enfield 2a?..the last version of that design in 7.62 nato!...oh which enfield is your favorite to shoot? And why ? I kick myself for not buying these when they were so inexpensive!!
Not a real big fan of military bolt action rifles, and I collect marlin leverguns. I have always liked the enfields though...you have a nice collection my friend.
well thats one of the beautys of living in Aus. but i think i speek on behalf of all australian shooters in that in the states you guys have a much cheaper and defenetly a larger selection of fire arms! but the .303 has been in australian history as long as ANZAC Day (if not longer). it means somthing to us, this is an opinion i am sure Jollygreenslugg shares as well.... By the way Jollygreenslugg i am extreamly envious of your No 4 Mk 2
Great video and great collection!!! I have come into a few old rifles and am trying to identify them. From your video, i believe that one is a Mark 3. Its stamp says "G.R.B.S.A. Co. 198" and there is a crown stamped over it. does that sound like a Mark 3 to yo? Thanks in advance for your help and now, I will see if you have other videos posted. Stay safe.
... I have just had my suspicion confirmed from watching your video, since it is identical to your P14. Does your's also have an extra elevation sight mounted on the left side of the rifle? Regards and congratulations with your impressive collection! Dennis Frederiksberg, Denmark
... It has been produced at the Eddystone Repeating Arms Company, made by Winchester and Remington to meet the demands of the British government. As far as I could tell from the production history, and since it ended up in the Danish Home Guard as a model M/53(17), but is ERAC-built and .303 chambered with an internal 5-round capacity, it almost had to be one of the P14's instead! - - cont. - ->
HELLO- THAT IS A WONDERFUL COLLECTION I HAVE A QUESTION FOR YOU I HAVE A ENFIELD NO5 JUNGLE CARBINE ROF(1945) AND ON THE BUTT STOCK LEFT SIDE IT HAS A PRESSED IN ROUND BUTTON THAT SAYS R 1773 WITH A SCREW IN THE MIDDLE OF IT DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA WHAT THAT REPRESENTS? ABOUT THE SIZE OF A NICKLE, THANKS FOR YOU HELP! THANKS AGAIN! BOBBYDEE
Hello JGS it's Anthony here, how's the winter going? I heard on the news there was a snowfall somewhere in Australia, could it have been the Sydney area? Best regards Anthony.
Obviously your a fan of the .303 round but have you considered getting a hold an Ishapore Enfield in 7.62 NATO? Great vid by the way, always liked Enfields.
Good luck. GunBroker has a few lots of Pakistani surplus 60's production .303, but it's expensive. The only really cost effective way to shoot .303 is to reload.
@naicam1 the numbers more or less are the rifle and the MK's are the varients of that type of rifle the higher the number the further down the wars they get the mk for instance 2 was just changes they made to the rifle to enhance its performance or issues they had that didnt warrent a total new design
That was a VERY nice walkthrough, and I think it just helped me correctly identify what is to be my new rifle. It is listed as a "Remington No.3 Mk1 1914", but it has been hard for the authorities to properly identify it. - - cont. - ->
i sooooooo want to fire a .303 1915 rifle. ever since i lernt to history of war i wanted to fire one. but i. cant find a place to fire it. can anyone help me? plz?
Yes of course you can go hunting, but it's quite expensive and difficult to get a license. Sure it's good that not everybody can get a gun easily but if I want to collect old bolt action rifles, which really can't be used for crimes today, I need a lot of money, a lot of time and a lot of luck. For details send me your questions. By the way I'm just fascinated by these old rifles:-).
Ahhh, It comes from a land down under Where beer does flow and men chunder Can't you hear, can't you hear the thunder? You better run, you better take cover. the greatest country on earth
Awsome collection. Well done preserving those beautys. :)
Happy New Year
Very nice collection!
Really awesome collection m8, you're really fortunate to have so many fine rifles of such quality and history.
Absolutely amazing collection, I envy you.
I've got a 1955 British made Lee Enfield No 4 Mk 2, and soon I'll have an Ishapore Lee Enfield 2A .308 if everything works out.
Sweet collection! Thanks for sharing.
Nice video =]
Just got myself a 1901 BSA L.E.*
NZ Army issued, used in ww1, soldier took it home and turned it into a target rifle (Replaced barrel with a Heavy Lithgow one & put on a Parker 9G Aperture sight)

Look forward to seeing more from you mate!
Excellent as always! Fantastic Video! Please keep them coming!
Danny
you should be proud of yourself Jollygreenslugg. I really feel the pride you have in our Australian military heritage and wish you luck with hunting down that kiwi carbine.
Awesome collection! Makes my sporterized No. 1 Mk III* look very insignificant.
Nice collection! Many excellent historical pieces there.

102 years old and still Turns cinder blocks into dust from hundreds of yards away.

i love all but i half to say my favorite is the SMLE NO.1 or the SMLE Mark.3
Jolly green is still around , he just some more important issues to deal with in the last couple of years and he does still have most of his Enfields
Fantastic! Great collection!
Wow!! Excellent collection. In India the police still use these .303 rifles. I have fired these rifles, excellent ones.

Wow! Nice collection!
As always, great video!
my goodness! you must have a lot of money to buy so many rifles. You are exceptionally lucky.
Would love to see an updated video of your Lee Enfield collection 16 years later
It would be something of a disappointment compared to then, but still some fascinating pieces.
My dad owns a 1941 Lithgow Aussie No. 1 Mk.III*
I own a 1943 Canadian issued No.4 Mk. 1
super collection, bonjour de France
very nice collection.

I noticed that the Aussie P1907 bayonets are blued, is that how they were manufactured? I was under the impression that the P07 had a polished blade?
nice collection mate 13 rifles!!! btw you are missing the jungle carbine. and i have a lee enfield bayonet which seem very rare which i picked up in syria. if you would like to see my bayonet, i can email you the pic later on.
