Mr. Kate I LOVED it I didn’t necessarily like the trim either because I felt like it didn’t match but I’m SUPER happy the besties won and I wish I could compete but I don’t have the money for travel....💗💗
yes same!! it was kinda unfair considering the besties said their style was minimalist/bohemian, so they got a style they were already pretty comfortable with in boho. I would have loved to see the sisters room if it was boho because i felt the minimalist vibe really limited them.
Same. It would have been nice to see what they could really do with their specific style. The twist should have been a "You MUST include this one super random thing* or whatever. That way they could still do their own thing.
@@missdawn9068 Yes!! in another episode both the designers were given a random colour they had to use, which I think was a much more fair and interesting twist 😃Both the rooms turned out beautiful none the less tho, so props to all four girls 💕
yes but whenever kate is decorating for others she doesn’t get to really incorporate too much of her own personal style in there, she has to strictly follow the theme of her client
True but part of being a designer is being up to par with any job you're given. You should know the other styles that exist even if it's not your taste.
My sister Jackie and I are incredibly thankful for this opportunity! It was a difficult challenge, and even with the horrendous trim choice on our part, we're so proud of ourselves and what we accomplished. Thank you Mr Kate Team for this incredible experience. Now, when its time for a rematch episode, you know where to find us! ♥️
Everyone keeps saying they want us to come back and do one where we stick to our preferred styles and I'm so down! Was great working with you and Jackie 🖤
This was an absolute fricken dream! Thank you so much for the experience. I’m so grateful for all that we learned about ourselves and design. I’m so incredibly proud of you girls, Sha’am and Danya!! You’re such beautiful souls with so much talent! And my beautiful sister, your talent and creativity continues to blow me away. I wouldn’t and couldn’t have done this with anyone but you.
I think your trim was fine, considering you didn't get to test swatch like you would IRL. I think it gave that wall more character without adding more decor which is what minimalist like. I personal loved your room and thought it was the best. The curtains were fine at their length for me as well, not everyone wants curtains to the floor, which can also be considered a minimalist thing. I think you room was amazing!
The minimalist room would have looked great with a richer and deeper emerald color with no colored trim. Also, a brown leather style couch would have really tied in all the colors. LOVED the bohemian room, literally beyond beautiful.
Being a 'hijabi' myself, I appreciate the supportive comments from non-hijabis. It feels good to know a lot of people do respect you for who you are and not for what you wear. Thank you and to Mr Kate for being so inclusive 🌸
i really love the judges opinions on everything! there’s not a single thing that i couldn’t agree with, based on what they said! constructive criticism is key!
That trim cost the minimalist team the win. Having a firm working knowledge of color theory is the foundation of good design. The rest of the room was on point. The boho team could have really used a bigger couch, but overall the space was more soothing. The wall color wouldn't be my first choice, but I loved the hand painted designs and it worked. So gald they won.
I think there were good choices made in the minimalist room, like the green walls, but just too much stuff. There was multiple layers of decorations on every possible surface and combined with the trim choice, it made the room feel like minimalism done by bohemian designers, which it was, rather than true minimalism. I think they could've won had they kept the trim monochromatic, but with a different finish or a more complementary green, and with less decorations.
SPOILER ALERT: the boho walls were literally so clever. Im def glad they won. I wasn't really feeling the minimalist room :( I did love the dark green tho. it had so much scope. could have been so so nice.
AND IT WASNT EVEN MINIMALIST AT ALL! they were still thinking boho cause i guess they couldnt come out of their comfort zone lol and their trim color they choose is completley horrendous (ps am not saying their room is bad cause their is actually really pretty, but they did not at all follow the theme they were given)
Always been a fan of you Mr.Kate, but today seeing a hijabi perform made me feel so happy and doubled the amount of respect and love I have for you. Oh and also congratulations for your baby moon he's so adorable. May the Almighty bless you. LOVE YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
OML I swear I thought the exact same thing! Lol I can't believe that was your thought too! I was like oh ooops they forgot to pull the tape around the doorway, and then I was like...wait..Oh..OHHHHHHH
I don’t Like that the whole preparing of the room was a montage. I wanted to hear more of their thoughts and intentions and how they were creating the space because I find that a lot more interesting than just hearing the judges opinions.
You should do a team one, maybe two couples, and the twist should be that one person from us team is switched. It’d be interesting to see how strangers work together.
This was really cool to watch but I also kind of felt the judges could have been a bit more objective in that they judged the rooms based on the themes rather than their own personal tastes. It seemed like they did not stay within the mindset of "minimalist theme" and "bohemian theme" and instead talked about their personal preferences which were unrelated overall to the room themes - if their opinions/preferences had been explained in relation to the attempted theme there would have been a clear reason as to why or why not the teams accomplished the challenge. Kate was really good at trying to keep the comments of the judges on topic in terms of discussing minimalism vs. bohemian but the judges were not being specific enough in their answers. As an example: 30:47 "I didn't find that room to be as functional as the minimalist room" - To me, this sounds like someone who does not understand that bohemian is not necessarily meant to be functional and minimalist is based on functionality so OBVIOUSLY the bohemian theme will not be as functional as it is intended to be laid-back, slightly nostalgic, and calming rather than structured, with purpose, and energizing. For it to not be as functional should not rate it lower than the other as this point should signify the more bohemian vibe. Now, don't get me wrong, there is a subsection of each of those overall themes (minimalist-bohemian, efficient bo-ho, etc.) but they all seemed to be caught up in aesthetics rather than what the room theme was meant to achieve.
That boho room was the most creative design ever! I love it so much. And your videos are really put together, how isn't this (and your other vids where you do makeovers) a TV series.
tubefan58 yea but it’s not everyday you see a muslim girl who wears the hijab on a show like this. It’s really exciting when you see someone like you and when you finally feel like you are getting representation in the media!
I loved how the minimalist room had plenty of color! Usually when people try minimalist styles they immediately go for all white, and it was refreshing to see a minimalist style room that was still bold, colorful, and fun.
The minimalist room was beautiful but that trim was horrendous, the color was not a compliment to the wall color at all and also painting the doorknob is tacky. Glad boho gals won
@@liliyalapik7434 I think that was why their lose was so sucky. I felt like that was the only major criticism they had compared to the other room. Like, they just missed the mark with 1 color, but the room was functional and they had no real critque on the furniture or decor, other than the curtains. But There was more critques in the boho room. SO, I don't think they should have lost bc of the trim, since it is so easy to change. I would have voted their room.
Trim on the green room is just off. The room is so comfy and colourful--a more complementary or analogous colour would have worked better for the framing--same for pillows on sofa... I would have gone with mushroom furniture instead of grey. Thought the bohemian room looked a bit messy; things seemed too randomly placed. Can't imagine loving it even though I loved the colours.

I am in love with both of these rooms!! That twist I think it exactly what made these rooms so unique. You could see the unique take the brought in from their personal tastes and it turned out to be AMAZING
Omg u should do an epic design vs design where 2 people do 2 actual houses of people in need! Like maybe a 3 part series or something where they do the whole house for a deserving family instead of doing the studios
Thank you Kate and Joey for a creative show and more education on creating beautiful homes. To the ladies....it was wonderful to see color in the minimalist room and to also see how we can use paint to change the visual of the architecture of a square room (boho room). Both teams provided GREAT ideas or solutions for renters, weekend projects make-overs, or low-cost design transformations!!! Loved the corner vignettes in the boho room.
I agree. I am increasingly attracted to minimalism but I hat that everything is always white or neutrals. I love that they put color into the room. That is my type of minimalism.
The ole switcheroo! During the intro of the contestants I felt the besties. Sha'am n' Danya were going to be the winners (my intuition hasn't failed me). I'd love to see an episode where the same four create living rooms to their strengths; sisters/Bohemian n' besties/Minimalism!
@@yaraa.5097 In our current social climate a hijabi sister is rarely placed in the spot light in a positive manor which is why this episode resonates with so many people who are part of a marginalized community. Show casing women of different ethnicities and religious backgrounds as Mr Kate has done is the definition of diversity. Hope that answers your question 😉
Much prefer the green room. In my opinion I love the colour scheme of the green walls with the grey couch. And love the lighter trims. Seems much more cosy too
the minimalist room wouldve won if they didnt choose that god awful color for the trim that reallyyy threw me off and i knew they'd lose because of that
I mean they didn’t have anything negative about the boho room. I think even if the trim was different the boho would have still won because even though the minimalist room was great it wasn’t really minimalist. I don’t think they truly tried to creat a minimal look. I feel like they already had an idea coming in and they altered it slightly.
I honestly loved both rooms - and the fact that you did the whole "switch-a-roo" thing made it soooo funnnn!!! It was great watching the duos jump into an entirely different aesthetic and they both really killed it!! Kudos to BOTH teams!! First, my thoughts on the minimalist room - I personally loved that they went bold with the color on the walls! The room was so warm & welcoming and the sectional made the seating so comfy - I could definitely see myself having dinner with the family in that room and crashing out watching movies. I agreed with a couple of the constructive criticism points the judges made: To me, the trim color was a bit off and detracted from the flow and overall vibe of the room. The curtains did seem a bit awkward because they didn't just come to the base of the window OR puddle onto the floor. I really like the puddle look myself! I loved the tarot DIY (they really made it their own!) and feel that the trim could have been better if it matched the frame OR a complimentary color from the tarot cards. As for the boho room - I absolutely LOVED it!! The arches over the windows changed the whole "boxiness" of the room and the accent paintings on the wall gave it such depth and personality. The colors were very soothing and yet - it wasn't too "matchy-matchy" with the mustard chairs and the green couch. I think my only constructive criticism of this room would be the couch - because while it is pretty, it doesn't scream "stretch out and get comfy" like the sectional in the minimalist room. The "poofs" however were great for additional seating and added to the overall bohemian vibe of the room. Both duos did a fantastic job, and I would have had a hard time choosing a winner! However, in the end, I agreed with the judges and would have selected the Boho room as the winner! So glad these rooms are going to an awesome charity! Thanks to Mr Kate & Joey for a fantastic video and would love to see more of this type of competition!
i am SO glad the boho room won, both rooms were great BUT the boho room definitely was the winner in my mind. both were so inspiring and they all did incredible work!
That green room 😍😍😍😍😍 I so would love that room but with black trim. The bohemian was pretty but the green room just seems so much more livable and cozy and I wish they would have won.

I actually like the trim, though I agree with Drew. And I really loved the minimalist style and colour scheme, but preferred the couches from the bohemian room 😊

The ole switcheroo! During the intro of the contestants I felt the besties. Sha'am n' Danya were going to be the winners (my intuition hasn't failed me). I'd love to see an episode where the same four create living rooms to their strengths; sisters/Bohemian n' besties/Minimalism!
Wow! The two friends were so beautiful!
Both rooms are amazing and beautiful it's hard to pick a winner .I love both.❤
When Kate said ‘Hands off the succulent’ I really felt that 😂❤️
The besties are so pretty and deserve their win!
"I'm not pregnant again!" lol I love you Mr. Kate! We don't mind belly flashbacks while you chill with Baby Moon!
♥️Love the diversity!! Amazing Mr Kate to choose a hijabi sister💕
SJ why when everyone sees a hijaby they take about diversity and stuff
@@yaraa.5097 In our current social climate a hijabi sister is rarely placed in the spot light in a positive manor which is why this episode resonates with so many people who are part of a marginalized community.
Show casing women of different ethnicities and religious backgrounds as Mr Kate has done is the definition of diversity.
Hope that answers your question 😉
SJ well one woman with a hijab is not diversity
Much prefer the green room. In my opinion I love the colour scheme of the green walls with the grey couch. And love the lighter trims. Seems much more cosy too
the minimalist room wouldve won if they didnt choose that god awful color for the trim that reallyyy threw me off and i knew they'd lose because of that
LemonGhoul should’ve chose from the same paint chip so that they’re the same color just different shade 🤧
Think it be better if they switched the colours around. So trim colour was main colour.
I mean they didn’t have anything negative about the boho room. I think even if the trim was different the boho would have still won because even though the minimalist room was great it wasn’t really minimalist. I don’t think they truly tried to creat a minimal look. I feel like they already had an idea coming in and they altered it slightly.
I agree 100%. They should have painted it black. Then it would tie it all together with the frame and the curtain rods.
It should have been gold like the rest of their accents
I really loved the bohemian window and paint designs
Loved the duos! And the boho room, omg! Not my style, but I was OBSESSED!!!🖤🖤🖤🖤
Thanks to Mr Kate & Joey for a fantastic video and would love to see more of this type of competition!
love the hijabi representation!!!! 🥰
LITERALLY WHY I CLICKED SO FAST
YASSS Dania is so gorgeous!! ❤️
i am SO glad the boho room won, both rooms were great BUT the boho room definitely was the winner in my mind. both were so inspiring and they all did incredible work!
I love how their interior style is definitely showing through their fashion style too
super cute! awwww! watching mr. kate brings back my love for designing my space and refurbishing my furnitures. so inspiring and getting a lot of tips
well done shaam and danya! loved the room💞xxx
For me the minimal room won. Love the wall color and the creative contrasting trim! Also love the masculine vibe
Loved both designs! But I feel like shaam and Danya took the design switch a lot better than the other team
That green room 😍😍😍😍😍 I so would love that room but with black trim. The bohemian was pretty but the green room just seems so much more livable and cozy and I wish they would have won.
You could tell who won just by the reaction of the judges!
Design vs design teacher editor who can design the best classroom
I seen this comment before I just wanted to post one too so that their's a bigger chance of them seeing it
I felt like the bohemian room should win ... and they did hehehe
Drew is seriously the best.
Damn I was just casually refreshing my RUclips and I saw this uploaded 30 seconds ago...
I love this series!!!
Such a great episode!! Sha'am and Danya were phenomenal! Both rooms were beautiful.
okay shaam and dania repping us middle eastern queens
I actually like the trim, though I agree with Drew. And I really loved the minimalist style and colour scheme, but preferred the couches from the bohemian room 😊
this diveristy really makes me feel so happy. THAT HIJABI WOAHH
I love boho but that green minimalist room is EVERYTHING! My perfect room!
