Devi - Omi, Today i want to know about Buddha like What did Buddha discover in his journey ?
Omi - "Buddha discovered that suffering and greed are everywhere. The things that others could not see, Buddha saw. Greed was essential in people's thinking.
Devi - Okay, so is greed also the cause of human suffering?
Omi - People are greedy. The entire society is greedy. Sorry, but we were born and raised in a greedy world, not an enlightened one. Therefore, due to conditioning, we are all greedy individuals, and greed is the cause of suffering. Buddha said that 'suffering' is caused by 'craving.' Craving is nothing but greed.
Devi - I have never seen this perspective, but what is the actual root cause of grief?
Omi - Suffering arises from greed. Greed is a very subtle thing. Suffering occurs in the external world, while greed resides in the inner mind. The inner mind creates the external world. If there were no greed, there would be no suffering either.
Devi - I think I also need to understand, what is the difference between need & greed ?
Omi - Needs and greed are different. Human needs should be met and are always met. However, greed is never satisfied. Greed has no end. When your greed clashes with someone else's needs or someone else's greed, conflicts and struggles arise. Can't you see what is happening in the world… wars between Ukraine and Russia, Iran and Israel, and many more conflict zones emerging? We find similar effects in Hindu epics like the Ramayana and the Mahabharata.
Devi - You're absolutely right, Omi. It's like my eyes have just opened but now i am getting more curious - can you tell me where does this greed come from ?
Omi - This is due to a lack of attention. If you grow a plant in dirty soil, the plant will also be dirty, but if you grow it in high-quality soil, it will be strong and healthy. People around us are greedy due to their circumstances. Therefore, we should teach them mindfulness. They will naturally overcome their greed.
Devi - This is so deep Omi, I want to know what Greed does to a person ?
Omi - Greed drives you crazy, leading you to violate others' integrity because you doubt their integrity.
Devi - English ( Damm !! how can we make a greedy person understand others ? )
Omi - That's a very good question, Devi! Let me give you an example. Consider an organization with some employees. We have two entities here: the employer and the employees. The employer doubts the integrity of the employees, and the employees doubt the integrity of the employer. This relational misunderstanding always occurs between two greedy individuals. If one person is greedy and the other is not, the non-greedy person will easily understand the greedy one and adjust accordingly. However, the greedy person will never be able to understand the other person.
