I would be SO MAD if I spent nearly 200 dollars on a cake, and I got plastic covered in fondant..... 1 star bakery wins this one for me. They ACTUALLY tried.
I do cakes here in the US and can tell you id be highly upset as a customer if i paid someone 200$ for a mannequin head and only the shoulders were edible. When the 1* bakery actually put in the work. So the details might not be spot on but for me they take the win in this.
Like seriously and the fact they never asked or called to make sure that was okay is kinda suspicious. I mean there’s obviously a reason we usually only make cartoon style fondant figures to decorate with, life size is so much harder than a caricature. I personally wouldn’t feel comfortable making this without consulting with the customer that this is a style none of us are trained in, and that I couldn’t promise that level of accuracy. I mean hell he gave them a caste of his face, there’s no reason they couldn’t put plastic wrap inside and mold Rice Krispies for a better face base model. We even have “gourmet” rice krispy treat flavors that are actually delicious exactly for modeling purposes. I know cake is incredibly difficult to sculpt, but at minimum it should of been some edible material. Plus if they’re literally just wrapping a mannequin I’d expect way more detail. The one star at least put in the effort for something extremely difficult, and I feel better captured his spirit, even if it was in a more “potato Jesus” kind of way.
I would just like to say, that these videos always cheer me up at like 2:00 am in the morning when I’m bored and can’t sleep. Just such a cheerful environment
I like the smaller one. It had more expression and was “tan”. A few more tweaks it would have been really,good. Usually the head is made with styrofoam , modeling chocolate of Rice Krispies treats. The fact they used cake is impressive!

Honestly prefer the 1 star cake because i feel like they put more work into it by using all cake and the nose isn't as wide and the skin color is MUCH more accurate and the hair seems better than the 5 star because the five star just painted it on and it didn't have dimension. The 1 star would be best if it slimmed your face down like how it really is and had ears that didn't look like they were melting... But i still vote for the 1 star.
Clearly the 1 Star is better. Both don't look like you, but the effort and work in the 1 Star is obviously greater and it even cost less than the poor, lazy attempt on the 5 Star (it isn't that hard to make Fondant smooth on a hard surface.) 1 Star wins.
The 1 star is more like a caricature, or like one of those political cartoons in the papers. It's an exaggeration of the physical features, which is probably why it's more recognizable and hilarious, but also appealing.
The 1 star cake is better, it actually has some personality and they shaped the cake themselves. The 5 star is basic and like you said looks like a cpr doll. They didnt even try to match your skin tone
I like the one star cake better. Not only did they make the head, which is kinda the important part for this sorta cake, but even before we knew that. Like obviously it wasn't as smooth, but they did the details, the skin tone is much closer to yours and the eyes and lips, though grossly plastered on the face look like yours. I'd conclude: The five star cake looks like A head, while the one star cake looks like a slightly distorted version of YOUR head.
Honestly the 1 star cake paid more close attention to details. It looked liked they atleast tried. The 1 star cake has details to its hair and ears while the 5 star cake just painted the hair on and the ears have no detail. The 1 star cake even tried making eyelashes.
The handiwork on the 1 star cake definitely isn’t the best... but it actually looks more like him than the 5 star cake! They at least got the skin tone and hair more accurate. I really appreciate the use of real cake throughout on the one star cake, I think that more effort was put into this one. I feel they cheated a bit using the pre molded head on the five star, that would have been a bummer to cut into for me. Also love your videos so much, they always make me smile.

they use them for props like sometimes they dont use cakes I'm not surprised that there was plastic in there some places use them but I did wish that they did use cake for it

I seriously believe that you let your knowledge of knowing have a factor in choosing which one you decide which one is better. Try it. Let it be a blind challenge. So that you won't know until AFTER which cake is which.

I actually think the 1 star cake looks like it had more effort put into trying to make it look like you. It wasn't executed very well, but the color, shading, eyes, mouth, hair all look like they were working hard with your photo. The 5 star one, not so much.

I like both, actually. I'd say they were going for a cartoon lookalike for the 1 star, and more of a mannequin look with the 5 star. I think if they worked together, maybe the hair of the 5 star, details of the 1 star, as well as a skin tone to match, it'll look exactly right! Or at least close to exact.

Flavor can be lost with artistry. Just like inner beauty vs. outer beauty what is pleasing to the eye may not always be good.
