I may not have a popular opinion here, but I believe these guys do great without autotune. I have yet to be disappointed with the quality of their acoustic music. I actually want to see them do this live. I wish I could see these guys in concert.
Yep, most people don't know how incredibly difficult it is to quickly change between your chest voice and falsetto. Its understandable that he's a little pitchy because it's really hard!
Starset's music isn't necessarily about "how it sounds" but moreso "the content" of it. Everyone complaining that these guys don't want to explode their vocal chords are missing the point of the lyrics
Not sure why people are expecting the vocals from an acoustic version of a song to be the exact same as the original. When anything's acoustic, loud vocals don't fit all of the time. THIS WAS GREAT, BTW!
+ImSoLament because some bands actually sound amazing acoustic, Sick puppies, breaking benjamin and 30 seconds to mars all come to mind from recent concert memory. This sounds like poop compared to the radio version as much as i love the song.
Fuck the haters. Just seen these guys yesterday at Carolina Rebellion and put on an amazing show. I see a lot of shows and I can honestly admit that these guys put a lot of time and effort into their performance. I was skeptical at first but seeing these guys perform live really changed the way I feel about the band. Don't knock em guys. They're really good and deserve your support.
R. I. P. Yeah I like them and I think they provide great music. They pretty mediocre live. In their current state, they will never be a big name unless they improve. I was really disappointed when I heard them, because i love their music. Not too sure whom you were listening to or maybe you just don't have that keen ear for talent, whatever, but seriously I wish they would improve. Then maybe theyd be comprable to their record, or for christ sake use an effects vocal pedal live.
Lyrics All my life they let me know How far I would not go But inside the beast still grows Chewing through the ropes Who are you to change this world? Silly boy! No one needs to hear your words. Let it go. Carnivore! Carnivore! Won't you come digest me? Take away everything I am. Bring it to an end. Carnivore! Carnivore! Could you come and change me? Take away everything I am. Everything I am. I will hide myself below I'll be what you wanted Kept inside I won't let go 'Till I burn beyond control Who are you to change this world? Silly boy! No one needs to hear your words. Let it go. Carnivore! Carnivore! Won't you come digest me? Take away everything I am. Bring it to an end. Make me fall. Make me bleed. Go ahead and change me? Take away everything I am. I'm not sure how I feel about Starset doing acoustic yet. I love the acoustic recording of "Point of No Return" on the deluxe version of their album, and I love Dustin's voice when he sings more powerfully, like he does in the studio recording of "Carnivore," but he can also have a nasally quality to his voice when he sings more softly. I can't decide if I dislike it, or just like that side of his voice less than his more powerful side. I see that this video was uploaded back in 2014, so perhaps they got more polished in the interim. I like this acoustic performance of "Carnivore" better than the one 95 WIL ROCK uploaded for "Halo." Starset is a band that I immediately fell in love with for their overall sound and the mythology Dustin has built around the band. He seems like a really interesting person (engineer/musician/writer) and I look forward to seeing where Starset goes, but I am also aware that they aren't perfect. They have time to grow though. I saw them live with Breaking Benjamin last month, and I thought they put on a great live show.
Is it me, or did the beginning of the song remind of "Animal I have Become" by Three Days Grace? Also, I noticed these guys are bad live (stage fright? idk), but really amazing acoustic. Not hating, but just something I noticed~
They're good acoustic but bad live for a specific reason. The singer can't perfectly control his voice with screaming and high singing without autotune (used in the album) and in acoustic he can let himself either drop an octave or sing falsetto therefore having more control over his singing :)
Gaash Ninari He didn't used THAT much of utotune, is that in the studio he can be more low in his voice and auto-tune will help the voice sound louder, he's not Britney Spears
I didn't in the least say he uses such big amounts of autotune... simply helps him control the higher notes which are naturally harder to reach... No one said britney spears pop amounts of autotune here..
so I love starsets songs but oh my goodness bates sounds so nasally and he is driving crazy... so glad I didn't go see them live I'm so sad to have to say tat about a band I love tho :c
most of the acoustic versions of rock songs are usually awesome to hear. but somehow I'm disappointed on this version... singer's voice is deeper and full of emotion on the original version.. this one is ok but the emotion is basically gone, which is sad as the acoustic version should be more intimate and heart-felt... just my opinion.. overall this is my favorite songs now days.
Wait.. So the singer's voice is almost COMPLETELY digitalized? Cuz let's be honest, the breakdown and chorus to Carnivore sounds nothing like this guy. It is way more powerful, deeper, and explosive than this guy's voice is even capable of.
I mean it's sad but to be honest it makes me want to start a band again and just completely amp my voice to a level like this. We made great great music but no one could sing well enough to make it far....but shit like this makes me realize you can just digitalize the living shit out of it and get away with it. Really these guys sound half as exciting unplugged it's pretty embarrassing and I removed all their tunes from my playlists to not support them even though I did love a couple of their songs for my workouts..oh well.
Trace Horton What the heck are you talking about? He hits every pitch perfectly.....ever listened to a band like Linkin Park live? Horrendous. Do you even music bro?
Dustin's voice becomes so much better when he sings softly
SuyogThe Pun I agree
0:53 - Dude, pay attention!
***** Funny haha!
Jim Tennant he was tuning lol
Jim Tennant lol. This is late but who cares lol
I may not have a popular opinion here, but I believe these guys do great without autotune. I have yet to be disappointed with the quality of their acoustic music. I actually want to see them do this live. I wish I could see these guys in concert.
if you do get the chance go!!!! ive seen them three times at my local knitting factory, they blow me away everytime
Lo hacen para acompañar la orientación de su música

exactly i dont care if they arent the best band live but the write amazing songs and the meaning is great and very unique
They may not sound great live, but it doesn't mean that it doesn't get the point of the song across. I love Starset!
Not sure why people are expecting the vocals from an acoustic version of a song to be the exact same as the original. When anything's acoustic, loud vocals don't fit all of the time. THIS WAS GREAT, BTW!
+ImSoLament I dont know, but, the voice on a acoustic version are awesome.

Used to think the same, but My Demons acoustic was a blast.
Thank You
Their description of the album as being like a soundtrack for a sci-fi movie is exactly what I thought when I first heard it
can't wait for acoustic vessels
He sings with emotion you can see. Man I can't wait to see them live! Not to mention HELLYEAH, Volbeat, And Death Punch!!!
Ethan ...What.
Their acoustic is amazing
1:45 thank me later
Thx

He's not worrying as much I feel, he's calm and this makes him much better, at live large events it gets a bit stressful
They really can pull it off live
***** sure...
Holy flying Cthulhus... this sounds like a western... I am awfully pleased by it.
I need this version right now.
Amo demais essa banda!
These guys have potential
Idk if you will read this but there was another band called Downplay (their first band) It's very good too
I love how static dustins movement is, our nervous boy
When he taps Brock on the arm
The main riff sounds so good acoustic
Omg! They are so awesome! :D ;)

Really cool considering how dependant they are on effects and prerecorded stuff during their normal live performances.

...last month and thought they put on a great show.
Me too, their music is a breath of fresh air without bullshit formalities and whatnot
I love Dustin tapping his band mates to tell them to stop acting so bored 😂
Love this
These guys are awesome live you guys?
i love it!!!!
Questi ragazzi mi fanno andare fuori di melone! 😍
hee it's me goku Z ******* nice song (carnevoooor) love
pero si sus voces son tan❤😍😍hermosas
if you didn't tell me it was carnivore and only played the instrumental, I wouldn't be able to even tell.
Is it me, or did the beginning of the song remind of "Animal I have Become" by Three Days Grace?
Also, I noticed these guys are bad live (stage fright? idk), but really amazing acoustic. Not hating, but just something I noticed~
Probably bad equipment i think

Why did it feel akward in the beginning between the group?

Welcome to the world of modern music.
I agree with you, but we have to remember it is an acoustic version, the way he sing it is a little different
true.
AirCanada1J5 Welcome to music in the now...sad isn't it. Not all bands are like this, but yeah, it's pretty disappointing really.
I mean it's sad but to be honest it makes me want to start a band again and just completely amp my voice to a level like this. 🐖👈
This sounds like drunk people trying to be Starset
This version is excellent..... if your on the best drugs....Guitarist is nice other than that...ehhhh
They don't sound very good live );
Trace Horton What the heck are you talking about? He hits every pitch perfectly.....ever listened to a band like Linkin Park live? Horrendous. Do you even music bro?
***** What. Chester is good at singing the fuck you talking about?
***** OK wait hold wtf happened. Lol it's not what I remember it being.
+Jim Tennant Lmao. Linkin park sounds better live.
Linkin Park Live >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Starset Live
Disappointing voice. No such power no potential element. Whereas the recorded original is much better than this one.
He is clearly holding back so he does not overshadow the rest of the song. If you have ever actually watched them live you would know
