Simply phenomenal and flawless. Great singing coupled with fabulous and compelling acting. Mozart would be thrilled with this Elettra. BTW, this is the same production from years ago. Check the late Hildegard Behrens in the same role, on the same stage, same production and same thrill.
WHAT? I’ve been waiting for a successor that could match Hildegard Beheren’s presentation and I have finally found it. this woman is absolutely superb!!!!!!!!
@@Muttonchop_USA The Metropolitan has lost its status as the mecca of the opera world by having inferior performers perform music on its stages for the longest time. They don't even have a clue on what is good singer anymore, let alone producing good productions.
Good Lord, but this woman moves awkwardly! Behrens, in the same costume, was flowing and secure. Van den Heever just galumphs along like I don't know what.
Behrens worked with Jean Pierre Ponnelle on the original run. She had time to embody his vision and iron out any dramaturgical kinks with the auteur there to guide her. This performance, on the other hand, is the 73rd performance and last night of a 6 performance run, 35 years after it debuted and 29 years after Ponnelle's death. Cut the bitch some slack, she's doing a grand job
@@peteradaniel Don't insult my intelligence. Behrens moved beautifully before she ever worked with Ponnelle. She didn't need his considerable expertise to teach her how to look onstage. Body movement is Stagecraft 101. Audiences should not be paying exorbitant prices to watch someone learn her job in front of them.
@@jasonhurd4379 well clearly the audience didn’t mind judging from the ovation she got at the end of this aria. I guess you will just try to find fault in anything. Must be exhausting.
Demasiados movimientos escénicos exagerados para caracterizar la furia de elettra. La voz demasiado añiñada para este rol. Bravo jean Pierre ponelle x usar mismos vestuarios q n la clemenza di tito

Brilliant. Pride of South Africa. Love you Elza. You are so fantastic in this role. Beautiful dramatic coloratura voice. Brava.❤❤❤
The rest of the cast is good but I watched this production of Idomeneo several times just for Elza. She is stupendous.

Pendatchanska never got to the Met, yet was an Elettra waaaaaay above
☕️☕️☕️💅🏽💅🏽💅🏽
I did not know Ancient Greeks were all so portly ... but top notes are slender ... she moves like a drunken sailor too .. great pity
What a terrible excuse for a human being you make
Dark lyric without chestvoice.
At least she hasn’t got a wobble.
Classic sprinto soprano voice with slight agility. Elza is made for roles like this.
You should write to the MET. I'm sure they'll cancel her string of contracts once they hear your opinion.

Ignorance is bliss = Met nowadays

Half the size of for example Tebaldi who was a spinto.

Met nowadays is a joke and this singer just tries to do something without being close to succeed. The audience adore anything…
