You can adjust the volume BTW. I just got this unit. While her phone is connected via BT, call her from your phone... while it's ringing, use the volume knob to adjust the volume. Hope that helps
Here's a helpful tip for those reverse camera lines. You can get rid of the lines by making them as small as possible and from what I heard the lines will disappear. Thanks for making some great videos on this radio bro 😄👍🏻
I think those other holes on the microphone you originally had obscured in the headliner are for noise cancellation. At least that’s what it says in the installation for my headunit.

I have 6 in my apartment right now that I ordered from Amazon to try out before installing. 2 or 3 have the option of a flush mount or a base mount setup. You have to drill a hole for the flush mount, of course. I'm still trying to make up my mind on which to go with.
Do you get the glitch that if the music track changes during google maps voice guidance the volume for the music does not return to the normal music volume after the guidance has finished. If you then get a new instruction from google maps once this has finished the volume returns to the correct level?

You can play movies off the USB drive. I think it has to be an AVI file, tho. And you need to have the special relay installed to mimic the parking break.
It plays mp4's/avi's/wmv and mkv's. File size limitation due to no support for ntfs so large movie sizes over 4gb a no go. ie You won't be able to copy them to usb.
I have the same stereo in my car, and yo can turn off the reverse caera line in the stereo, and use the carmera lines, ned to read the manual. Tthat stereo is super user friendly
My default stereo can set up the system time (which is shown on a separate display) and a couple of system functions (for example, the follow-me-home lights). Do you know if this stereo can do the same? If I switch mine to this one will I need to temporarily install the old one once every 6 months to adjust the daylight saving time? I see that the stereo itself shows the time but as I'm going to have the built-in display anyway I'd like the clocks to be synchronised. The built-in display is somehow connected to the stereo, e.g. it shows the currently played music, but it also shows some car settings / messages like "top up engine oil level" that definitely don't come from the stereo, so I have no idea how this display is going to work with a custom stereo.
What brand of camera did you install? I bought one and took it to bestbuy because I bought this radio unit with free installation. They said the one I got you have to modify the vehicle which they won't do. JVC headunit here, but CarPlay sometimes causes the HU to soft reset (looks like it powers off a sec and then reboots). It’s intermittent and only happens when using CarPlay
The latest update from April (1.02.07) doesn't get rid of the CYA message, but it only shows up for a few seconds then goes away on it's own. No need to push the button any more. EDIT: I just watched your video on how to get rid of the screen, but the above update is not from a third part giving out beta versions (nothing wrong with those except the risk. I used one of those to get Waze early). This is the official release of the 1.02.07 version direct from Sony.
The advantage of this unit vs most others on the market is that this is in effect a single din unit with a double din screen/fascia, so fits vehicles which lack the extra space for a full size double din setup.

I have a Pioneer, X395BT, and I'd like to kill those engineers that designed the shit AppRadio. What's the point to have the screen of the smartphone doubled on the car stereo? I can't turn off the display of the smartphone, or turns off also the radio. Android Auto is the very advantage. And, product by product, Pioneer doesn't offer anything at this level. They are way more expensive. The NEX series is great, but offers so many features i dont use. Actually I'm interested on this stereo. It has no competitors at this price. Can go back to your cave and find someone else to troll. Thank you anyway.

the lines can be removed, you have to minimize their size all the way and they will dissapear.

Yes the wire is completely hidden. I removed the a-pillar trim to hide it. In my install video I think you can see the trim removed.

I believe you can not use a stand alone gps on this exact model. You need either android auto or Apple CarPlay. Newer models may have that ability.

Shouldnt need any special relays, simply earth the parking brake wire to any other earth. This should bypass that safety feature

Vladimir Moskva I doubt it would sync up. Your best bet would be to contact Sony directly.

When you are in Android Auto mode with your cellphone, is it like mirrorlink? You have to keep your cellphone open?
Sim Octane your cell phone will lock you out when in android auto. It's not mirror link.

You can get a jumper harness that will allow your steering wheel controls to work.

The knobs and trim are miles beyond Pioneer and Kenwood, Sony blows them out of the water.
I don't see no where you could hook up a aux cord on the front of the radio.
You can't plug in an aux cable to the unit itself. You just plug in your phone via the USB port.
The car itself has an AUX cord built in
Can you eliminate the "Caution" screen that comes on at startup? It's irritating to have to push a button to close the screen.

should have just gotten a pioneer flip out instead. The sound quality is still garbage on this sony XAV which has beyond garbage audio dac internals.
