- Silent film from Pond 5. Many thanks to our friend Ryan Bomar / ryanbomar for use of his audio. Moving up to the mid '80s for this one, neat action at DCA; including lot's of 727s, Republic DC-9, Nord .262, Beechcraft Dukes & King Airs, etc. Be sure to check my channel for the best in VINTAGE & RARE airliner videos!

This is fantastic!!! So many fine airlines that are now gone but not forgotten. I miss my all-time favorite airplane too. The Boeing Heven-Twenty-Heaven - errr - 727.
All 727's a DC-9 and a couple of king airs. Makes me miss the good old 727 a lot right now!
This is one of the most awesome pieces of film that I've ever seen! Thank you for shining the light on it.
You did an amazing job syncing up the audio. This is true art, man!
Ryan Approved. :-)
727's always hit hard when they land just like the MD-11's.
Should have left the name "National"
The controversial ex-Pres name is just wrong.
I still call it National
Thumbs up. Loving all the vintage videos. . . . . . . . . . . . . .Keith in LoUiSiAna
Thanks Keith.
I love this. Now National is all 737s, A320s, and E190s. No soul. All sterile.
Really bad quality for 1985... perhaps an earlier video?
Loads of JT8D action. Love it!!
OMG!!!! You caught N900TX on the ramp. That blue trim Merlin III belonged to Textron Lycoming out of Williamsport, PA, where I flew from from 1986-88!!!
Wow, good catch Tom! Finding things like that in an errant film is always a thrill.

That one made my day! :-)
Wow, this really takes me back! I loved the Boeing 727. It had such a smooth ride & was so dependable, even in bad weather.
I also remember DCA back in the eighties, when there was a lot of action inside the terminal. Protesters, people wanting you to sign their petitions, Hare Krishnas . . . ah, those were some days!
This is great. Could you please check PM, I would like to get footage for the documentary, so I am looking for the origin of the video. Thanks, guys! Best. Leila
Back when airports were loud! Worked @ hobby for SWA back then! I hated the noise then. I miss it now!
I LOVE all of those BEAUTIFUL 727s
Thanks for the upload. Fond wonderful memories being a young person avgeek. The airline industry was so fun for a kid with regional and national product differentiations of branded airlines multiple types of mainline equipment used. So miss seeing the DC-9s and 727s. My heart still skips a beat when I see Piedmont Airlines and the original USAIr (usair) livery rebranded from Allegheny Airlines.
Love the 727! Best looking and sounding jet airliner ever imho. Eastern Airlines, Piedmont, Pan Am. 727's look great in any livery. I miss seeing and flying on the 'ol 72. Thanks for the great video clip!
The good old days, best looking aircraft, best liveries of airlines, more airlines before being swallowed by the competition or have closed up (went under).
My family and I fly here to and from Pearson every Christmas to celebrate said holiday and also new year most of the time and the summers less frequently.
I wish aviation could always be this way... thanks for posting the Piedmont Airlines plane.
so many liveries that don't exist any longer. I had flown on Piedmont and Eastern often as a kid.
Nice video.
Really Great !
The audio works well with this. Thank you Ryan.
Long live the 727 !
the DL 727 in the video had the tip of its radome painted black, and i've seen pics of delta's early dc-9s with a similar nose treatment. when did delta make the switch to an all black nose on their birds?
1988-1989
Glad to see a Piedmont 727-200
Miss those loud 727's!
