    Great content as always!
    I'm finding the Pitch bend editing very laggy on my system. Had no issues at all with other versions of Cubase - I knew I should have waited until their fist bug fix lol.

    Hello Sir, I have a problem with midi in cubase. every time I add the midi sound into the track using the pitchbend then it occur to be a wrong tune. What can you help?

    • @musictechtuition
      @musictechtuition  2 года назад

      I would guess that the pitch bend range on the synth that you are using is not set to 2 semitones, so it will produce unusual pitches when you sent pitch bend?

    Do you have any advice on pitch bend information bleeding onto the next event although it has been automated back to "0" before the event ends?

    • @musictechtuition
      @musictechtuition  2 месяца назад

      I remember having this be a problem years ago, and it was the synth that was the issue - it was (if I remember correctly) the release portion of the notest that were responding to pitch bend (as they should, I guess). The way I solved it was by duplicating the track and alternating notes between them, so the next note happened on another track and the pitch bend for it wasn't changing the note before (as then there was a gap between notes).

    I tried using the pitch-bend but it will only bend 1 semitone, even though I set the range to 12 semitones. Do you know if there any way to fix this? Thanks.

    Cheers for that. Can you show us how Note Expression works in Cubase 11. Used to be you double clicked on a note in the key editor, an action that now deletes the note, so how to bring up the note expression?

    Is it possible to do MIDI Expression with the Behringer BCF2000 for orchestral expressions in Cubase?

    Question: Is the actual range of pitch bend (+/- half a step or +/- an octave from the x-axis) set within Cubase or within an instrument/program/patch?

    • @musictechtuition
      @musictechtuition  11 месяцев назад

      The actual pitch bend range (in terms of what you hear) is set by the instrument/plugin/patch. Cubase is actually just sending MIDI messages which have no range per se, they just say where the control is (minimum to zero to maximum).

    So how do you do this with chords where you only want to pitch just one of multiple tones??? This used to be easy with Fruity Loops by giving the bars a different color.

    • @musictechtuition
      @musictechtuition  7 месяцев назад +1

      That would be something that Note Expression would be able to do - with MIDI it's more complex as pitch bend applies per channel, so all the notes would bend; you can change it by sending each note to its own channel (in a couple of different ways), but it's more complex when running that way.

    I don't know if I am doing something wrong or not but I have found that 2 semi tones appears to be the hard limit. Even if I set the + and - to 48, I can still only hear a 2 semi tone travel in pitch.

    • @musictechtuition
      @musictechtuition  3 года назад

      Hi. You need to change the pitch bend range in the synth you are using as well - that will depend on the synth. What one are you using?

    Hi there thanks for all your tutorials!
    I have a question for you, is it also possible to pitch band one note in a chord ?
    Thanks in advance!

    • @musictechtuition
      @musictechtuition  3 года назад +2

      "It depends" is my answer - certainly not for standard MIDI synths, but if you are using an MPE controller, you may be able to do that - because each note is effectively on its own channel.... which is how I've been doing this sort of thing for years; in my book there is a technique for recreating guitar techniques like this by creating two synth tracks, using the same sound. One has the bent notes on it, the other the 'static' notes, and you're away.

    If I buy the Native Komplete Kontrol S-88, would pitch ben work on one note of a chord? I have Cubase 10.5. I wish to retune a note or two on one scale - to create better than equal temperament for harmonising better major thirds etc. Or do middle eastern VSTi in Native Komplete have their own reassignment of pitch intervals? [I'm just wondering if I must pitch bend the notes to a new pitch.]

    • @musictechtuition
      @musictechtuition  3 года назад

      Individual note pitch bend will not work in standard MIDI instruments - you'd need NoteExpression (or another similar technology on another platform) to do this, or split the chord between two MIDI channels on an instrument, and apply bend solely to one channel.
      Not sure offhand about temperament on instruments - there is provision for it on some, but none spring to mind right now!

    • @alaindubois1505
      @alaindubois1505 3 года назад

      @@musictechtuition, thanks. I thought so. In a piece I'm writing in A [major or minor?] I want a flute-like VSTi to end with a long note a third[major or minor] above the A. However, neither C nor C# sounds right. When looking at how keyboards are pitched in equal temperament, I found that C# is actually 14 cents higher than a perfect/major third above A. I'm determined to repitch that note and see if it sounds right at 550Hz. [Most may just not end a phrase on this note because of equal temperament.]

    • @musictechtuition
      @musictechtuition  3 года назад

      @@alaindubois1505 As a test, then I'd suggest putting the flute on a separate MIDI channel on a VSTi so you can pitch bend to the exact frequency you're looking for - put a tuner on the output and you should be able to do it pretty easily.
