Not sure if Dan will see this but my partner is going into 9 years sober, he had his license revoked like 18 years ago making it difficult to travel and find work, and through rehab and AA he's found a good track in life, good friends, and as of three days ago got his driver's license reinstated. It's strange to me how season 1 of the Mandalorian felt like this more grounded, prestige version of Star Wars we hadn't really seen before. To see it evolve into something this kid oriented because of Grogu's popularity is kinda strange to see. Still feels very much like a Disney+ special, not a movie for cinemas.
I get what you're saying, the tone was definitely a little different. Right now it feels, for lack of a better word, disneyfied. I think it used to be more Favreau and less Filoni, and now it seems more Filoni than Fabreau

The Star Wars prequel trilogy teasers were great trailers. The Phantom Menaces's slow build teaser with "Every generation has a legend...Every journey has a first step...Every saga has a beginning..." was great. The Attack of the Clones's silent teaser with Darth Vader breaths intercutting clips of the movie, going faster and faster, that was exciting. The Revenge of the Sith teaser with Obi Wan's voiceover from A New Hope was so good. I remember we were all dying for the movie at that point, the weaknesses of Jar Jar or the "sand" dialogues were forgotten in the hype of that teaser.
I agree! They should have made the title epic sounding instead of just “Mando and Grogu”! I mean this is a full length stand alone movie away from the tv show. 🤔😖😐

Predators Badlands did not do well too , but people say it was a mega hit?? It lost 80 million dollars, but we're still told it was a hit?? Director got fired, but still a blockbuster hit.??So Fantastic Four was a mega hit this summer under the new business hat model? Neither underperformed this year!!!! Both were loved greatly

It is my understanding that the equal time rule was geared towards debates. All things being equal, it seems that CBS' lawyers read the suggested guidance read as strictly as possible and IMO overreacted.

But boots on the ground and just walking around, this is not a thing. No one out here in the streets is asking for a Ben Solo movie. Strangely enough, these are things that have been critiqued about him for a while, but this was dismissed and he was defended for the longest time. I think you were one of those dismissing the same critiques that you are now giving. I appreciate you coming around to that, but I feel like this needs to change online. There are a bunch of people who push back against franchises and studios or other entertainment media--critiques about Kathleen Kennedy, about the MCU, Pedro Pascal, etc--and they are immediately villified as toxic or some sort of "ist" or "phobe", shunted off to the side. This is not defending everything. There are really ridiculous voices that are not in good faith, but way too often the people making smart, genuine critiques are lumped in as part of "the bad guys", the "toxic man-babies", the "incels." Thus, their on-the-nose takes are effectively ignored until their warnings come too late. I don't know what to do about this, but I feel like I've been seeing this cycle happening for close to a decade now. Thankfully, I've seen more acknowledgement of troubles from people like you, Grace, and others, but these are also kind of too late when the brands are nearly irreparably damaged, the studio or creative teams are deeply entrenched and swapped out from when they were good and successful, and there's nothing left to do but watch them burn down and flail ineffectively in the process.

I couldn’t be less interested in mando movie, the first season was outstanding!!!…my wife hates Star Wars , and she even liked it….but somehow they seemed to have ruined it. Season 3 was my breaking point on Mando. The franchise thing in Hollywood is killing it slowly but surely

I didn’t the Mandalorian and Grogu trailer wasn’t the worst thing but it did feel like Mandalorian season 4. I feel like a lot of people have franchise fatigue and Star Wars doesn’t feel like an event anymore. The sequel series the acolyte did real damage to the brand.

People are getting absolutely ridiculous with their casting requirements. Pretty soon we'll have to have to find an actor born in a certain city in a certain country at a certain time of the day in a certain year with exactly the right skin tone and eye color to play a role. Oh, but of course, only when the character is a person of color. When they're a white character, who the hell cares who they cast, right?

Grace, your critiques about Pedro Pascal seem correct to me. Strangely enough, these are things that have been critiqued about him for a while, but this was dismissed and he was defended for the longest time. I think you were one of those dismissing the same critiques that you are now giving. I appreciate you coming around to that, but I feel like this needs to change online. There are a bunch of people who push back against franchises and studios or other entertainment media--critiques about Kathleen Kennedy, about the MCU, Pedro Pascal, etc--and they are immediately villified as toxic or some sort of "ist" or "phobe", shunted off to the side. This is not defending everything. There are really ridiculous voices that are not in good faith, but way too often the people making smart, genuine critiques are lumped in as part of "the bad guys", the "toxic man-babies", the "incels." Thus, their on-the-nose takes are effectively ignored until their warnings come too late. I don't know what to do about this, but I feel like I've been seeing this cycle happening for close to a decade now. Thankfully, I've seen more acknowledgement of troubles from people like you, Grace, and others, but these are also kind of too late when the brands are nearly irreparably damaged, the studio or creative teams are deeply entrenched and swapped out from when they were good and successful, and there's nothing left to do but watch them burn down and flail ineffectively in the process.

She definitely reads as more educated than some random faceless account on the internet saying a woman in the industry isn’t allowed to have an opinion on something. I’m a fan and I agree Reed should have the potential to be a little evil. Hickman’s run is character defining IMO. And marvel is developing that run so I would have liked it to align.
@nicholasgamber1293 you don’t seem to understand what the phrase ‘an educated opinion’ means… it means you learned as much as possible about a specific topic from various sources to form an informed opinion on it. in the case of the op’s comment the specific topic is the character of reed richards and the op is saying that if someone hasn’t read all the comics where this character appears then it’s not a very informed/educated opinion. Grace says herself that she’s not a fan and hasn’t read all the comics about this character, so op contradicts what she states about a character as she doesn’t seem to know him very well. this has nothing to do with Grace’s education and work experience
