Yeah ive heard people compare the HO to the 5.7 and 6.4 truck engines but it really was meant to replace the hellcat after they released that Ram 1500 RHO. Theres a reason they also aren't pushing 700hp out of this platform. Let that sink in idgaf about after-market they stopped at 540 because it was definitely going to have issues if they pushed it any harder.
@atg1338 No a leak from the design team said that the timing chain came apart when they advanced the cams too much to push over 630hp out of it. and the turbo started puking oil when they pushed 7100 rpm on a hard pull. This is really just rumor, but it would explain why it's not pumping 600+ hp because it can't without having issues.

Stellanis' (NYSE:STLA) Ram landed the Best Truck Brand award for the sixth year in a row due to what U.S. News & World Report called the models' combination of luxury and traditional trucking capabilities. Notably, the Ram 1500 is the sales volume leader of the brand’s lineup, as well as the current leader of the U.S. News full-size truck ranking.
Mind citing the ranking? I don't remember seeing any of the list breakdown into models but most had RAM pickup just above GMC sierra but below f-series and silverados
The Sound of the Raptor is a lot better this sounds like a vacuum cleaner sound or a go kart sound the Raptor has the better shocks suspension. If I were to choose between the Raptor and this I choose the Raptor. Still to me if i had the option I would get a first Gen Raptor.
I do not disagree...gen 3 raptor sounds better. I will be doing more sound of this on the throttle from outside to see how it compares. Gen 1...the best yet!
Even though we've got a bleepload of issues, all these comments continue to keep me a Mopar fan for life, way back to when the Mustang ll owner told me my Demon 340 was "junk" LOL.
NICE! For me, sound is not important...If you can, let me know what the difference is in MPG between the RHO and the TRX at 100mph. Dunno which one to buy 🙂.
Wow paying the same price I did for my TRX 3 years ago, except with less horsepower and a disgusting exhaust note, sounds very appealing to me! I can’t imagine this is an example of why the Stellantis CEO was let go.
@@CTECH-REVIEW yeah it’s ridiculous. They sent the price to the moon in a very short period so they could release this crap and say it’s a good deal by comparison. I can’t believe so many people just fell in line and are so easily tricked. Lol.
Great video review , but i wondering what is the benefits from changing the engine to SSL from Hellcat and end up with same fuel economy i.e same emissions !!! Still is considerable investment on the whole brand
I don’t disagree with you in a real world scenario. I’m not sure you’re going to get but one to 2 mile per gallon better than the hellcat. With that being said on the test protocol from the EPA it shows about a 4 mile per gallon improvement over the TRX. My guess is it was easier to get rid of the hellcat and just have one single engine family across the entire vehicle lineup from a financial perspective.
I have had several Rams over the years starting 2011, 2014 and the last was a 2019 everyone leaked at the third brake light and the pillar decal between the front and rear always peeled. Do the new Rams still have this issue?
Curious why do you think it’s a better daily than the TRX? It’s the same physical size, premium fuel as well.. MPG tbd but i believe the difference it will be negligible. Thanks for a great video
It drives lighter and feels more nimble...if you can in fact run 87 octane, and it gets 2-3mpg better than the TRX than I think it will be a better daily. I liked my regular raptor more than my Raptor R as a daily and for towing. The ecoboost held lower RPMs and had a much more manageable exhaust sound when towing on the highway for extended length towing sessions. I think the Hurricane will be just like this!
I have the same concerns. BMW's s58 (3.0 i-6 twin turbo) in the M3 competition x-drive, its highest factory output, is 523 hp, and here come Ram with 540...in a heavy truck. Sure the Hurricane engine has cross bolted main caps and fully forged rotating assembly but it gives me the same feeling as an old man at the gym doing heavy squats....like, way to go, but I don't want to watch.
I wish they would have used the analog gauges from the TRX cause I'm not a fan of digital gauges. But this truck looks absolutely sick. But for $90K, I'm gonna look for a TRX.
@@CTECH-REVIEW If I could get a fully loaded RHO for under $75K, I think that would be an amazing deal and would jump on it. Any more than that, it doesn't make sense to me.

Not sure how much data on reliability is out there on this yet! Time will tell. Most of hurricane engine related problems were in the wagoneer. Not the ram.
Very cool. Tow mirrors ruin it imo. You are not going to tow with an RHO baby Rex. The dash is a bit busy. Too much going on. But best looking exterior of 1/2 tons. MPG is not great even with the idle time.
Doesn't have a dipstick? So if the battery dies or you're working on the engine, you have to turn it on and pull up the display to check your oil level? SO EXTRA
Good point. Kind of like how Ford got rid of manual in truck and you have to use screen. Imagine if the screen went dead or a dead battery in truck and you can’t check fuses in manual since screen is out. Silly!
@@CTECH-REVIEW give or take this is about 500-600 lbs heavier then the Tungsten which comes with 22s. Where is the extra weight coming from you think ? Fenders and Bash plates?

Yes the hurricane engine only had an oil gauge on the dash! No dipstick. Thanks for watching! I love the Raptor. Curious how it compares
Does have seat massage - just need to click the circle next to the seat icon after pressing button.
Yes! So happy to know this now!
really appreciate the review. Ordered mine a couple weeks ago.
Congrats on the order! Hope you get it soon!
It does have massaging seats on the butt, you need to click the dot next to the button part of the seat picture on the screen.
I'll have to check that out next time I'm in the truck! Thanks for the heads up!
Thank you for the comment and for watching!
@CTECH-REVIEW can't wait for that video stay safe and your videos are always good to watch so keep up the good work
Even though we've got a bleepload of issues, all these comments continue to keep me a Mopar fan for life, way back to when the Mustang ll owner told me my Demon 340 was "junk" LOL.
haha love it, thanks for watching. Comments do crack me up, this truck rips and will shock some people!
NICE! For me, sound is not important...If you can, let me know what the difference is in MPG between the RHO and the TRX at 100mph. Dunno which one to buy 🙂.
haha100mph! why not 110?
@@CTECH-REVIEW Here in Europe, this truck drives slow 🙂...but cost 140k.
haha you guys got the good stuff there 911! Thanks for watching!
Wow paying the same price I did for my TRX 3 years ago, except with less horsepower and a disgusting exhaust note, sounds very appealing to me! I can’t imagine this is an example of why the Stellantis CEO was let go.
What’s wild was the $125k msrp of a 24 TRX final edition. I love TRX. always will.
@@CTECH-REVIEW yeah it’s ridiculous. They sent the price to the moon in a very short period so they could release this crap and say it’s a good deal by comparison. I can’t believe so many people just fell in line and are so easily tricked. Lol.
@@CTECH-REVIEWthe TRX is amazing. Maybe with the Stellantis CEO resigning it’s a good sign for a future iteration
I haven't seen anything on that yet! I'll keep an eye out and maybe I can address it in a future video!
Great video but ... "Long Live the TRX" lol
Haha, I love the TRX it will always hold a special place in everyone’s heart! I think once people warm up to this, they will really like this engine
@@CTECH-REVIEW Hahaha, I bet with all that horsepower and supercharger whining ... on a truck LOOL, love your comment :)
great vid thanks
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching
Nice truck, but sounds awful. 3.0TT screaming to make 500 hp for a truck this heavy will have it’s adverse effects sooner than later.
Thanks for watching and the comment!
I agree you shouldn’t buy until the bugs are out of it. I test drove one and the transmission was jerking real bad.
no kidding! what a bumer, trans on this felt good. Thankfully the 8HP75 trans has been out for 6 years now. Thank you for watching!
I wish they would have used the analog gauges from the TRX cause I'm not a fan of digital gauges. But this truck looks absolutely sick. But for $90K, I'm gonna look for a TRX.
Keep in mind they start at $72k and dealers going under msrp!
@@CTECH-REVIEW If I could get a fully loaded RHO for under $75K, I think that would be an amazing deal and would jump on it. Any more than that, it doesn't make sense to me.
Thats what I am getting mine for...darn close. I didnt do graphics or Beadlocks (will pick up rims after buying).
Nice truck .... i just traded in my rebel gt cause i finally realized wants are way more than needs ! How much over usable tech do ya need !
I'm with you, it's about the right amount of tech for a truck.
It looks good.
yes sir!
Lol I live on the street you recoded this. 😂
Nice area!! Thanks for watching this!
@ thank for the content. I just went and got a look at the truck. Looks great!
Hope they finally fixed the ucconect issues. nothing like a stereo that wont turn off and drains batteries.
I hope so too, was this an issue on 25s?
can you switch out the 35's for 37's without any suspension changes?
It depends on who you ask, take a look at the video I did of the 2025RHO from Sema on 37s!
Depends on the 37s. Lol mostly no. I'm actually gonna go to 34.5 snow tires.
Why can't Ram make the camera the entire screen like the Navigation? It's crazy.
Great question!
Quite sure 91+ only for the 540 hp version, 87 for 420 hp version
Thank you for the comment!
Who the hell still used 87 octane? Jesus.
haha many people! If I am not towing, off road or working the engine hard I run 87 on long road trips!
Does it allow full screen Android Auto?
I did not check that, but I will be circling back on this soon!
Nothing personal but I would not waste my money on this...but hey that's why we're all different.....🤷♂️
I get it! all these trucks are so overpriced that this thing looks like a bargain in 2025! scary!
The power is held back until after the breakin period
Great to hear! maybe we get 608hp!
I have one on order too. Hope it’s just how it sounds through your microphone and my phone. That cold start sound is horrible, it’s pretty bad.
It’s a putter
Cold start doesn't sound great..., but once warm and revving its acceptable (not great, but acceptable).
Price of this vehicle please
I will make sure to add the price in the description!
Dodge with the inception of the new hemi hellcat engines have been lying for quite some time about their horsepower ratings.
think its higher? would be awesome if so!
Buddy you didn't even look. You didn't turn on the butt message. It's the button right next to the seat cushin. Might want to update the video because you're incorrect there. Otherwise good video.
I know sometimes I am blind...I dont not know how I missed it, but I did. I will have a follow up video on this. Thanks for watching!
It’s faster than the ford eco boost. It’s super powerful, it’s just not proving to be reliable.
Not sure how much data on reliability is out there on this yet! Time will tell. Most of hurricane engine related problems were in the wagoneer. Not the ram.
Ram High Output
Yes!!
Very cool. Tow mirrors ruin it imo. You are not going to tow
with an RHO baby Rex. The dash is a bit busy. Too much going on. But best looking exterior of 1/2 tons. MPG is not great even with the idle time.
Yeah the tow mirrors are a bit much! I purposely did not order mine with those plus I don’t think they’re worth the $800 price tag for that option
Silly!
It’s crazy this thing weighs what 6400lbs ? If I’m not mistake.
GVWR is 7800...payload 1264...heavy truck! 6536lbs!
@@CTECH-REVIEW give or take this is about 500-600 lbs heavier then the Tungsten which comes with 22s. Where is the extra weight coming from you think ? Fenders and Bash plates?
@@9663muit’s the frame, which was reinforced from base 1500’s when they created the TRX. If you look back at some of the trx intro articles there are some good explanations.
different frame, different axles, different cooling, front skid, middle skid, rear skid. Bigger tank standard on RHO.
Imagine paying the same price for this as a TRX was a couple of years ago. Lol.
Those were the good old days!
i get 20 mpg in my 16 f150 5 liter 4 wheel drive 180 thousand miles still runs great
5.0 FTW!
Dope truck but i refuse to pay that much money for pick up trunk
I can understand that! Thanks for watching
Wait till it breaks down , anytime now the short harness will burn up .
That would not be good!
That self-driving mode is definitely not better than GM's self-driving mode.
Good to know!
I am wondering if the tire is snow rated😂
I will find out soon! I put same tires on my Gen 1 Raptor and they did awesome in snow a few days ago!
@@CTECH-REVIEWawesome man! Super excited about my incoming RHO!
No dip stick!! I'll stick with my 23 Nissan Titan Pro-4x!!
Thanks for watching!
@@CTECH-REVIEW
Your welcome man. You should do a last hooruh of the 2024 Nissan Titan Pro-4x and Titan XD!!
A 8500lb truck that's classified as a 1500, and we're still calling these "half ton trucks"?
These trucks are getting bigger, but they're still the same class as they have been for a long time! 6500lbs curb weight is no joke
3 zonks are no 2wd only, 11mpg, and the exhaust sounds bad
I can agree on both! I do hope the 11 creeps up to 13-14.
For the price ram is asking for it, heck no…😂 TRX forever
TRX is great! Thanks for watching.
RAM High Output = RHO
Yes!
one set of injectors? at least from what I heard, no port and direct injectors. sounds like they dont learn from the past.
Yes just DI fuel injection! Just like GM trucks!
Sounds like my 2010 Honda accord 2.4 with a clogged cat converter
Haha!!! 😂
The only people saying these trucks sound good are people with press accounts/review channels. Outside of that, real consumers aren’t blinded by how horrible it actually sounds💀
Also not a great start to the video when the giant television in the truck isn’t very touch responsive.
If I can afford a $70,000+ RHO I would personally just get a TRX with Sub 20k miles on it for the same price🤷♂️
Thanks for watching. I try to be as unbiased as possible with my channel. I do wish this sounded like a TRX or Raptor R! But i don’t think it sounds bad in person. It’s definitely better than Gen 2 F150 Raptor. I love idea of a used TRX. But $85k on a 2 year old TRX Vs a new RHO for $70k. Tough call. I would like either!
I’ve already seen a pov drive off road. Someone on muddy side roads just giving it the business. You have a business channel so producing content first is important….
Thanks for watching!
It does sound. Bad 🤷♀️, The truck design is nice but the sound doesn’t go with it. I’m just keeping 💯
Totally understandable! I am curious to hear your thoughts after a few more weeks of driving...
Good ole cl10
Heck ya! Those trucks are great
Love the "lieing" spelling...intentional or ding ding?
Intentional! haha
That first sound note sounded like crap
I need to do this again!
That exhaust sounds like a can vibrating against something in the car and I can't reach it
Haha!
Sounds like CTs v sport
I could see that!
Definitely not trading my Gen2 Raptor. I absolutely hate the screen and that gear shifter.
Thank you for the comment and for watching!
That is odd 608hp. Why wouldn’t it be 600.
I agree!
Every review I’ve seen they say .1 slower than the trx. That would make sense if it’s 600

haha! Thanks for watching!
My 2021 3.5 L Raptor sounds much more grumbly than this RHO..sounds mean at start up..but congrats to RAM on this RHO...it does look cool and I do love the side view mirrors...very stout!
Gen 3 raptor exhaust sounds better IMO!
