Winner of the TONY® “TRIPLE CROWN” for BEST MUSICAL, BEST SCORE and BEST BOOK, AVENUE Q is part flesh, part felt and packed with heart.
AVENUE Q is a laugh-out-loud musical that tells the timeless story of a recent college grad named PRINCETON who moves into a shabby New York apartment all the way out on Avenue Q. There, he meets KATE (the girl next door), ROD (the Republican), TREKKIE (the internet entrepreneur), LUCY THE SLUT (need we say more?), and other colorful types who help PRINCETON finally discover his purpose in life!

The fact that they got all the original puppeteers to reprise their roles and that they're still on top of their game shows that they need to play the characters in an Avenue Q movie.
If they did it as a film, they'd need more characters, I'd think. You also would not have one puppeteer doing two puppets.
There has to be a movie
@@sha11235 There's a pro-shot from 2003 that was never released.
@@sha11235 all of the Muppeteers play multiple characters. Frank Oz, alone, played half of the Muppet cast. In the Muppet Movie, two of Henson's characters sang a duet (Kermit the Frog and Rowlf the Dog). Considering all of the puppeteers from the original production are professionals who have done many films and television series in the world of puppetry, they know what playing multiple characters is like.. Also, I think the amount of characters is good for a film. You kinda just have to trust the source material, making only slight tweaks.
@@harleyludy6596 I know that Henson and Oz did multiple characters. What I meant was they would add characters and maybe have different puppeteers if they only had the same number of characters. Give more puppeteers more to do.
Okay but JOHN TARTAGLIA SOLO LINE IN THE END!
This last line actually made me tear up. All of actors are brilliant, but the original cast forever has a special place in my heart
So this has always been my go-to song since 2004. When I left my dorm in college and graduated, I played this song. When I left my first job, I played this song. When I was diagnosed with depression for the first time, I played this song. And now, during COVID, please understand how much this means. Stay safe,
I can relate. When I'm sad, I play this song while crying alone.
This has made my day,
Am I the only one who spent the whole time looking for the original Broadway cast? 😂
Me to. I'd the blessed pleasure of seeing the OBC 4 times, before they moved to New World. Ten times I saw Avenue Q. Such a happy place in my heart.
Same, did anyone see the og gary
ROD HAS A WEDDING RING I REPEAT ROD HAS A WEDDING RING
wait when!
Chelsea Cleope 0:52! :)
I missed that! Now I'm all teary again.
Yeah there's a video of Rod and Ricky getting married if you look it up on here.
Yeah he and Ricky got married
I’m so happy John was the one who sang the final line 😭❤️ everyone did such a great job!! ❤️
Yes yes yes! I was a bit dissapointed all of the video because I couldn't even see him propertly (it took like a whole minute for me to find him!) and then this ending!
I teared up so much when he sang the final line. I miss this musical. 😭🥰
THEY'RE COMING BACK! THEY'RE FRICKING COMING BACK? AHHHHHHHHHH YES! RECORD IT FOR DVD RELEASE OR SOMETHING THIS TIME!
This ended up never happening.
@@unorthodox4376 omg i wish im so sorry for your disappointment
@@unorthodox4376:(
Covid is only for now, but the message of this song is timeless. Thank you to the cast for reminding us about what truly matters.
Stumbled onto this on Christmas Eve, 2020. I guess the universe knew I needed to hear this,
Christmas Eve, XD!
you stumbled on christmas eve? geez is she ok?
This is one of my favorite Broadway songs. The first time I heard it, George Bush had a line in the song and the theater erupted. It still hold up. Thank you for this video.
The lyrics have been George bush, Enron, Fox News, prop 8, bp, nra, Ebola, Trump, and now covid
@@RiverRollOn Thank you for this factoid, it's a question that has plagued me so many times but I've never looked it up.
@@RiverRollOn My guess is it won't ever be changed to "Joe Biden! Is only for now" even if he is single handedly dragging us into nuclear war and a totalitarian government. Can anyone honestly say we are better off with Biden than the 4 years of peace and prosperity under Trump. The only reason y'all hated him was because that's what the media told you to think.
Thank you, Avenue Q, for reminding us that everything in life, especially right now, is only for now. This made my day, thank you so much. 🧡
This musical is got me into theatre and now television. I owe a lot to this show for getting me through some tough times as silly and wacky as it is. I remember sending an email to Rick Lyon when I was in grade 9 proclaiming myself as the 14 year old puppet kid from Toronto, Canada. To my surprise, he actually responded and gave me some book suggestions for building puppets. 13 years later, I am now an actor, and I do small puppet building workshops in schools in Toronto. I owe a lot to this show. Thank you for the journey you started me on. It has been nothing short of magical since. - The 27 year old puppet kid from Toronto, Canada.
I saw this show upon recommendation from a Broadway loving friend. I was surprised she recommended this show to me as she prefers Andrew Loyd Webber epics but she played me the soundtrack and I fell in love. I saw it a few months after that with my family and have been obsessed ever since! I listen to the soundtrack whenever I need a pick me up and this song is one of my favorites. I love the slight changes to reflect how unusual this year has been. The “only for now” message is something every needs to hear since it’s so true and means more now that ever. Amazing job from everyone!
Avenue Q will go on tour when COVID ends?! That's great! I'll get a chance to see it! XD
Where did you hear that?
@@Supasmartguy Literally at the end of the video.
Wait really!?!?!?!?!
A solid message from some brilliant folks. I miss seeing live shows, but only for now.
Love you, too, Rod. And thank you all. We all needed this.
I’m smiling and crying at the same time. This was much needed 🧡🖤
I'm doing the same...I think with has bad that 2020 has been it hit home
That made me cry. Seeing it originally didn't make me cry, but this did.
Not going to lie but after watching that, I'm in tears, well happy tears. For a number of reasons.
1. Seeing all the cast back together again.
2. My Fav show.
3. I MISS THEATRE. and tbh small theatre or show performances like this during the current global situation gives me some sort of mental peace in a time where my anxiety and depression is amplified drastically.
Dude idk why but the ending made me tear up so much! I love this musical and would love to see a movie or hopefully see it in person if they did a reunion when Covid is over. 🥺🥺🥰🥰
if they do a movie use the oringal people with a couple of added actors
I couldn’t get to the end without sobbing 🥲 I love this!!! Watching on repeat
Same! I cried.
of course, I just watched this 2 years later in 2023 and I cried so hard again. This reminds me that no matter how dark or gloomy the situation is, all the pain and sadness will eventually pass. It's bittersweet as I don't currently feel quite OK but I know I'm resilient and will eventually feel better.
Holy shit I wish I had seen this when it came out! I NEEDED this! You don't get it...Avenue Q is a big part of 2000's nostalgia. A beacon of a better time ( I know 00's actually were terrible but in some ways they were better than now). This seriously made me a blubbering wreck.
The minute Kate Monster appeared and starting singing the first line of the song I was like a pure sucker punch in the feels.
At my job for safety reason we aren’t allowed to listen to music. So when it’s really loud I sing a bunch of songs I know by heart this is one of them. It makes me really happy they performed this and seeing the actors smiles makes me so happy along with the puppets.
I would love for the show to start touring again.
The editing on this is so good! Well done!
Check out Welsh Of The West End's From Now On and This Is Me; two of the best covers. Trust me, you'll love t.🙂🙂🙂
I don't believe it. I haven't heard of these guys in years. I listened to their songs since High School and thought they were done. What a nostalgic trip and I hardly ever feel nostalgic.
I remember seeing AVENUE Q on Broadway, with the original cast, in 2002. It's held its own, and aged well. Remember everyone: everything, except death and taxes, is ONLY FOR NOW.
I can't believe this fucking musical is still going strong! It's insane how timeless it is and the nostalgia I got listening to this song again revamped. Icing on the cake when John Tartaglia got the last line in the song. So good!
im mad it never returned i wanted to see it live
I grew up having some sort of ptsd. Always worried, always want to gain control, always chasing.
Thinking, wanting and fearing things to last. But this song kinda made me realize.
Everything in life. Is only for now.
And I promise to smile more often..
Your songs cheer me up. Thank you so much, AVENUE Q! from Japan
The "love you" at the end was so cute 😭🥺💕
Trekkies background! XD.
Well that was really cool they all came together like this, including the instrumental cast. I saw Avenue Q 3 times before it ended. It wasn't enough lol.
Can't believe I just discovered this video today. I miss this show. It was one of my favorites.
I just found this and I’m blown away by how sweet and caring this is
When the shut down was so bad and scary I put down Hamilton and put on Avenue Q because I needed a laugh. Love this
This song has gotten me through this year as I’ve listened to it on repeat. This made my entire year!
I play it whenever I'm just so so sick of everything. It's happened a lot this years!
Late to the video but I love this so much!! Had only seen it once but the music and everything is embedded into my memor.. and whenever i get a chance to see one of the people from the show it makes me squee with delight. Have met Rob McClure and Jon Robyns (a week and a half ago as Phantom on the west end!!) but have also seen Ann Harada (OG Christmas Eve on Broadway and West End ) and Natalie Venetia Belcon (OG Gary Coleman) twice in St Louis. Love still being able to see these performances (Yeah, been a few years since but it's still going!)
this was how I was introduced to Avenue Q. my mom showed me this. I love it, even though it’s 3 years older than me, it’s aged well.
I am so happy I found this. Seeing Avenue Q on Broadway brought me joy at a dark period of my life. This show deserved every accolade it received.
Everything in life… can be learned from Avenue Q (the greatest musical of all-time). ❤️
Wow this made me so happy! Avenue Q is one of my favorite musicals and this was such a perfectly timed message
THANK YOU FOR DOING THIS!!! As a SM and Ave Q lover this warms my heart so much! We will be back... It may be tough times... But they are only for now (and guess what i have proudly been wearing my Trump is only for now shirt too!)
I did a socially distant, Covid safe acting camp last summer and instead of putting on a play we did a Broadway review. This was the final song and I loved it so much. (The camp directors obviously changed some of the words to be suitable for children)
I play this almost daily - still breaks me up…
This really needs to be brought back to Broadway. 🥰
I love this so much. I was in a regional theater production of Q.
And we're 1.5 years out and "everyone stay safe" already feels like an artifact from a time long passed.
People don't care about staying safe, sadly. It's more, "Ok, most people don't care. I guess stay safe. If you can. Ok? Shrug emoji."
I miss Avenue Q! thanks for this video during COVID!
I just keep rewatching this I love this so much
Just watched this, I’m in a production of Avenue Q super excited to bring this show to live post 2020 😭❤️
How did I go THIS long without seeing this?! Beyond incredible!
If the OG actors ever went on tour again I'd pay so fast my wallet would get whiplash
Omg seeing the original cast made me smile so big!
Embarrassed to admit this made me tear up 😭 I needed this!!!
Nice!
I'm personally hoping to do a little zoom meeting with John Tartaglia, Stephanie D'Abruzzo, Rick Lyon and Jennifer Barnhart to talk them into doing their Avenue Q performances at my high school reunion at Club Villain
wait you get to do that? YOU LUCKY MAN!
Unorthodoxly, no, but a guy can dream
@@matthewweikert20 Good luck. Now that's a dream.
I watched this show few years back in my first visit to New York, I never enjoyed this much in a play. Love them. Love from Lantin america
Thank you for putting this video together. I may have caught it months later, but it brings me so much joy to see this gem of a finale song resurface. I absolutely love this!
A sweet and much-needed message, loved to see the cast back together! More please!!
This made my whole month! I couldn’t help tearing up, I miss you guys so much! ❤️ Thank you for doing this. Please come back. 💜
This helped make this year feel like it's actually NOT the end of the world 😊 I hope after this is all over that you're able to tour again. I'd love to see you in Des Moines, since I missed out when I was a teen.
Thank you for this! One of my favorite shows and a message we need to remember.
I've no idea why this song makes me cry at the end everytime I listen to it!
So amazing to see everyone all singing together ❤️
Wow 11 months later this still made me bawl like a baby. Jesus this has gone on too long
Wow, 16 years, and they still got it!
I may or may not have gotten goosebumps watching this. Love this musical so much.
I missed this musical when it was in its prime, but I've seen this musical 3 times and I plan to see it whenever it comes back! I'll be around for the next reunion performance!
Not gonna even lie, this made me tear up so much, I had to stop singing along a couple times. ;-; It feels so good to see the cast members again. Hope you guys are staying safe, as well!
This is so relevant right now...love this musical!
What we didnt know we NEEDED. I CRIED. This was amazing. #nostalgia
Why did it made me tear up? Gosh. These cast and these puppets made me feel things 🥺
I have a deep love for this musical 💜
I love this so much! Avenue Q was the first Broadway show I ever saw in 2007. This made my day!
Thank-you so much for delivering this! This is a great closing number that always gives me some hope, and this rendition is just what I think we needed to end the year on!
An amazing video and beautiful rendition of the song by all these tremendous performers
Thank you for making this video. Two years ago, when I was depressed during Covid, this cheered me up. I really want you to do performance in Japan again.Thank you Avenue Q.
I’m crying. I needed this so much
This was pure gold
Oh my gosh!! This is beautiful!! Avenue Q holds such a special place in my heart. Thank you for this so much!! Great to see John, Jordan, Natalie, Jennifer, Stephanie and Ann. Thank God for Avenue Q!!! ♥️♥️♥️♥️

How the hell did I only today found this??????
This was everything I needed this morning! Thank you!!!! 💙❤️💚💜💛🖤🤍🤎❣️
Wonderful, and timeless! Tears of joy.
Thank you! This needs a Full Revival!!
This song put a lot of things in perspective for me at a time I really needed it
I LOVE this track, it still gives me a pick-me-up to the very day, way after COVID.
This song is what I needed to hear today. I'm gonna go back to work and be very busy, productive and most of all a really helpful employee. Thank you Avenue Q.
I didn't know how much I needed this. ❤️
Avenue Q is one of my favorite Broadway musicals! I love this!🤩😍
made me cry... thank you!!!
Well... that made my day and made me emotional over puppets. This was beautiful, I'm so glad you were able to make this.
I’ve wanted to see Avenue Q since ‘04. I’ll take what I can.
I needed this..
Thanks guys
I'm so happy I searched for Avenue Q again
I Always Tear Up At The End with Each Time You Smile IT Will Only Last Awhile Lifeay Be Scary, But It's Only Temporary So True In Life Thank You Avenue Q That Little Mantra Will Stick With Me For Life
Could the original cast just make a movie or a dvd of this beautiful musical? Please i beg you😭😊. Stephanie, a very big fan of your charecter in this particular piece of art♥️
Very cool and very special to see Ruthie Ann.
I’m pretty sure this just made my week. Thank you 🙏, I needed this.
